Your PC should run CAD fine. Laptop... well it has only AMD integrated graphics chip. It should be able to start CAD app but working on it might be... uncomfortable. I would try downloading a demo of your preferred CAD software and just test it in situ.

do you really need to be doing cad while mobile though?
cad has existed for decades and has been ran on computers way slower than your laptop

it also depends what youre doing yk, im pretty sure ltt had a video at some point in which they where benchmarking laptops with cad fluid simulations

Hi guys an update from a few hours of testing I found 2 things to be the cause of my lack of performance and I would like to share my experience for others possibly having similar issues

1: set pl1 and pl2 to your max bios setting

2: download throttle stop and go tpl and make sure you select MMIO lock and not the sync MMIO

3: make sure you have core ratio down bin enabled in your bios.

    ENJOY!!!

3600-3800 or basically as fast as possible while staying in gear 1

Voltage wise id set a sanity limit at 1.7v so the imc dont degrade, rev e dont degrade with volt but at some point its just pointless to cram more volt for basically no gain, set vttddr ~700mv, at this freq problably just stick around 1.5v

The primaries can be ignored as theyre next to irrelevant to performance, primarily focus on trfc, trc, tfaw, and trrd-l/s along with set trefi to the highest value possible (66666, 111111, etc.) For most noticable performance gain, but you can tighten the rest of the secondaries and tertiaries if you want though thatll take awhile, def some extra performance doing that. Primaries dont affect performance much so you just wanna set them before they start gobbling dram/vccsa volt

Nope not at all as long as it’s smaller it works 99% of the time! I know for a fact the h510 has support for the 240mm and the 280mm both in the front intake!

It’s called v droop, in bios set it one from max then lower ur overall voltage so it maxed at 1.38 or whatever your stable at

R3dbullDrinker reacted to LionSpeck in What should i upgrade?
If you stream / record / (video, I presume) edit and it crashes, there's an underlying problem that isn't necessarily solved with upgrading. Could you describe a little bit better what kinds of crashes you're getting?
Regarding your upgrade it depends on what you're looking for, but I'd say your GPU first. Are you looking for better performance in games? If so, what's your monitor resolution? What games do you play? At what graphical settings? What kind of FPS do you want to achieve?
Honestly, with my 4th gen i5 I can stream / record / video edit without problems; I personally use QuickSync (or I could use NVENC), which takes a huge load off the CPU.

R3dbullDrinker reacted to AbydosOne in 3200mhz ram but it shows only 1064mhz in speccy?
I say that that combination of CPU, motherboard, and RAM are not capable of hitting 3200MHz without (at minimum) manual tweaking of timings or (likely) at all. The original Zen memory controller was notoriously poor, which only made the fact that the InfinityFabric clock (until Zen2) was tied directly to RAM speed much more annoying.

You can try pushing more voltage to the RAM (but don't overdo it). You can also select XMP, then select a slower frequency to see if you can find a point of stability. You'll probably need to get acquainted with memory stability testing.

Word of warning: unstable RAM can lead to all sorts of weird bugs (including: random, unrelated BSoDs; file corruption; bork Windows installs; random app crashes... ask me how I know...), so keep backups and don't push it too far.

Correct. Unless you enable PBO or use something like the CTR tool, that is normal operation for all core load on a 5900x.

Perfectly fine but it’s becoming kinda outdated.  Intel recently made a huge jump in performance per dollar but that only really applies to their 12th gen.

In the current market it’s currently bogged down as it only has 4c/8t which is kinda low for rn.  Really stressing it like in a battlefield game you would be looking at 40/60 fps ish. Maybe lower.  In a cpu shoot for a modern cpu with 6 cores 12t or higher atm.

Oh yeah definitely.  You can get medium/high 60 fps on 1080p. Just make sure to pair it with a decent gpu.

Yes but I’m gonna be honest for that price and for that gpu it’s a pretty sad deal.  If you can find a 1070/980/980ti or anything close for around 200-300go for it it’s a lot better of a deal. But if you want new only a 6500xt on low with a 12 gen intel i3/i5 or a 5600x will get you plenty fps.

Yes however the 240hz monitor you chose isnt that great If on a really tight budget go for a 144hz monitor thats really good I dont have the best recommendations but I personally love LG monitors and they are really good across the board.  I own the 240hz 27inch one but I have friends with the 144hz 1440p ones and they are amazing.  then pair it with a similar monitor but cheaper.  Now with more money saved try and get a 360 rad ek as it would look better in the 5000d and perform much better.  After that I think you are golden.  Also Id recommend you vesa mount your monitors, its adjustable and looks esthetically pleasing.

The budget is pretty good.  I would ditch the double 144hz monitors and get something like a good 240hz and maybe a 60hz for the second one as you would not use the second 144hz.  The aio isnt the best performing if you can get the ek 360 aios they perform wayyy better and look just as good.  Also for streaming id get 32 gb of ram just try and find a way to squeeze it in as streaming tanks your fps on 16gb.  The storage is also kinda overkill Id get a 1tb or even 500gb ssd to save money and get more storage for games on a hdd like the seagate barracuda 2tb.

R3dbullDrinker reacted to RONOTHAN## in Can you flip atx motherboard in a p400a
You mean like an inverted layout? No, you can't do that, the holes don't line up, the rear IO would be inaccessible, and the case just isn't designed for this. Besides, the P400a is already pretty good with GPU temps, if you want them lower just get an extra fan or two.

Play with the clocks and power target. Sometimes overclocking the memory has helped me. It scales noticeably with core clock as well though.

R3dbullDrinker reacted to tikker in 1080ti temps too low?
Pascal has a hardware problem (trying to dig up the reply by Nvidia explaining this on their forum). The issue is the so-called "translation lookaside buffer". Ethereum's DAG size now exceeds the TLB's capacity on Pascal, resulting in the performance degradation. IIRC this is the reason why underclocking memory sometimes seems to help.

My FE hits similar hashrates so I think you're good.
