Hi everyone,
There was a similar thread on this same topic from over a year ago, but a solution was never revealed. Was wondering if someone could help me solve an issue I'm having as I have just purchased an ultra wide monitor. Stretching 4:3 on a 21:9 is just too much for my old eyes. Ideally, I would like to force a 16:9 screen onto said ultrawide monitor (16:9 with side black bars). Then have a game (CSGO) run 1024x768 resolution inside the 16:9 screen and stretch it.
The image below was not mine but hopefully helps explain what I would like to achieve. The original person who posted this was also a csgo player but did not disclose how they achieved the solution.

Some more information that was revealed from the original thread or relevant to problem solving:
The game does allow changing of the original resolution.
Stretched views of the game are commonly used.
The monitor in being used is an LG 34GN850-B: 34" ultrawide 21:9; 3440x1440p
I'm using Nvidia control panel and can achieve a 4:3 stretched resolution across the 21:9 native; but the goal is to get 16:9 inside the 21:9, and then stretch the 4:3 resolution inside of there.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
