  1. Yeah is more of a porject it really isn't going to be used for a build.
  2. i wish him the best of luck with that.
  3. also make sure all the connections are plugged in well.
  4. what is everything you have done so far, also look on the boards manufacture page to see what CPU's it supports out of the box also try booting it up using the pins on the motherboard its self not the button.
  5. So this has been annoying me for the past 2-3 months, this ga-z87p-d3. so lets start with this it loves to be bipolar sometimes it works other times it doesn't. so it randomly shuts off after doing this for a few times it power cycles (this is when it isn't overclocked) it wont even really post because i power cycles so much. now completely unpluggingplgging it and clearing the cmos and then letting it sit for a day brings it back. question is why THE HELL IS IT DOING THIS. I'm starting to think that since this motherboard has 2 bios chips maybe one of them is corrupt or corrupts it self after a few hours of use then clearing cmos fixes it but at the same time I'm not sure I'm still new to working on pc (just started working on them last year) and i just don't really know what to do maybe I'm just missing something? specs: core I5 4670k 8gb 1600mhz adata XPG ddr3 a zseasonic 550watt psu (also tested it with a 500watt evga and it does the same thing) BIOS is on F8 and was on F7 and it did the same thing on F7
  6. As of right now i think i figured out the problem, the chipset had very very little thermal compound on it so i put some on it and its been up around 8-9 hours straight now with an 4ghz oc.
  7. So recently ive been building my friend a pc, it has a i5 4670k, gigabyte hd3 lga 1150 mobo, 16gb team group ram 1600mhz , seagate hdd 1.5tb , an evga bronze plus 500w psu and a gtx 960. There's a bit of a problem it shuts off randomly about every hour or a little more than that then proceeds to turn back on then shuts off within a couple of seconds the turns back on and goes into Windows. Originally windows was being a bitch and i thought it was that but it wasn't then i thought it was the hdd or the cpu cooler, but again it wasn't that now i have it over clocked as of right now at 3.8 ghz all core at 1.181 volts. A little high but this cpu kinda sucks ass. Now i have a feeling its a vrm issue because taking the glass side panel it stopped for a while until i put the side panel back on then it started but im still not sure because the vrm maxes out underload at about 57°C but that would be the other 3-4 vrm that don't have a heat sink that are next tho the vrm with one and they do get hot enough to the point that it kinda burned my finger. Im still not sure thats the problem and as of right now im not really sure what to do.
  8. Its what i call the power supply connecter the 24 pin one
  9. Yes i have tested everything tye power supply is working i think it might be the motherboard. Because now with the 24pin connected to the board the rgb doesn't even come on meaning the motherboard isnt getting power anymore but when i used my psw connecter my rgb will turn on and the fans spin up so... Either the motherboard completely bit the dust or the motherboard bit the dust and took my cpu or possibly even gpu with it and i hope that wasnt that case
  10. Yeah umm the setting i was messing with were minecraft Shader settings aswell i was monitoring the graphics card witch is a rtx 2060 it was at around 47C idk what the cpu was at but i had changed a shadow setting and then the pc froze for about a half a sec then shut off and then it started doing that i didnt overclock the cpu i did however overclock the gpu but just a little and it had been running with the overclocked gpu for over 8hrs so idk
