I have the GIGABYTE Z390 Aorus with a 500gb Samsung 970 Evo Plus NVME SSD in the third (bottom) of the three M.2 slots. I purchased and installed a 1tb Samsung 980 M.2 into the first (top) slot. Skipping the middle slot mainly because I was too lazy to remove the GPU to get to it. Since installing the 980, I have come to realise that the transfer speed between the two ssd's appears to be capped at 1.5gb/s (a far cry from their theoretical and advertised maximums) I am wondering if I have put them into the wrong slots and if so, what slots do they need to go in? Thanks in advance for any help.

High end computer lags on desktop or simple tasks
NZFlmkr replied to NZFlmkr's topic in Troubleshooting
@ShabbaHi, yes I am using a wireless microsoft designer keyboard. Noticed I had the same lag problem in my last compute too. I'll try using a cabled keyboard and see if that fixes the issue. Thanks! -
High end computer lags on desktop or simple tasks

@Bombastinator Thanks for your response. Idle temps are 36-39 for CPU and 44 for GPU. Celcius. I'm using a Kraken X liquid cooler for CPU. -
Hi everyone, having a little problem with my new pc: Specs: 970 Evo Plus 500gb M.2 i9 9900k RTX 2080 Super 32Gbs ddr4 3200mhz CL16 RAM I am pretty sure the lag is not due to old or sub-par hardware given the above specs. The problem occurs when hitting "open" on a game in steam and then moving my mouse, it glitches across the screen and then works fine. It can also occur sometimes when dragging a window around or using my keyboard after a period of innactivity. Please let me know if this is a common problem or something I shouldn't worry about + fixes if it is an issue.

Ok thanks, good to know. It is really hard to find used zen 2 ryzen in New Zealand though but I guess Ebay is trust worthy enough.

Just heard it was a good cpu for video editing with Adobe without switching to ryzen which would be slightly more expensive and not so good for Adobe.

Hi all, been a bit out of the pc parts loop for a while so would appreciate some knowledgeable MB recommendations. I'm upgrading my pc and moving to an i7 8700k from my 6700. I am wondering what a decent priced motherboard would be for the following components: GTX 1080 FE, I7 8700k, 32GB DDR4 RAM and a 1tb M.2 SSD 970 Evo. I would like to casually overclock the CPU to around 4.5ghz. Happy to buy second hand as I have done with all other parts, looking at around $110 USD. Cheers

Is now a good time to buy the Ryzen 9 3900x?
NZFlmkr replied to NZFlmkr's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I do a lot of video editing using most of the adobe suite. -
Hi everybody, looking for some advice. I was not paying attention to Ryzen when they released 3rd gen so I don't know how much the 2nd Gen prices dropped. I am considering upgrading my cpu and motherboard from I7 6700/Gygabyte H110m-S2H to Ryzen 9 3900x/x570. I do a lot of professional video editing with 4k files. I use the most of the Adobe suit including After effects, Premiere Pro and Photoshop. I know the Ryzen 9 3950x is significantly more powerful but I just can't justify the extra $300 over the 3900x. Should I wait until the Ryzen Gen 4 comes in and hopefully brings the price of the 3950x down or just buy the 3900x now? Thanks for your advice!

Connecting GTX 1080 using two six pin adapters?
NZFlmkr replied to NZFlmkr's topic in Graphics Cards
I was using the two six pin cables plus one of the added 2 pins. The second 2 pin was not connected. -

Yeah, not sure if the 1080 will require more power to run though? Your probably right. I can't really damage it by not giving it enough power anyway. -

Connecting GTX 1080 using two six pin adapters?
NZFlmkr replied to NZFlmkr's topic in Graphics Cards
Yeah that's what I'm not sure about. And attempting to use 2x 6 pin into the adapter for 8 pin -
Hi, I have recently purchased a GTX 1080. This adapter was in the box. Photo 1 My last video card was a GTX 970 which requires 14 pins. Photo 2 I have these two cables which connect to my power supply and have 8 pins. Six pins and an extra 2 attached to the block of six. The problem is there is only 6 wires that connect at the power supply so the extra two must not be connected. Photo 3 + 4 This is what I have set up in order to get power to 8 pins. Photo 5 I need to know if this is right or if I will be giving it too much power due to there being two lots of 6 pins going into the adapter? Thanks for your help!
