*Edit* yes this is normal behavior and not a concern, but you can make adjustments to run cooler and with less power draw.*

Undervolt your CPU. Better yet, overclock it at lower voltage.

My board runs stock voltage insanely high. 1.45 idle and 1.35 under heavy stress tests. I can run prime95 stable 4.3ghz all core OC at 1.3 vcore. 4.2ghz all core at 1.25 vcore. I run medium LLC as well.

You can set a negative voltage offset, but have heard some people suffer from instability.

Try 42 multiplier and 1.25Vcore and see if you are stable.

Build is for my daughters. Got a 580 only because of price to performance. I got it after rebate for $135 I can't beat that. But down the line all I gotta upgrade is the gpu. Just under $700 USD.

ChamFamDad reacted to Mateyyy in Can someone enlighten me on processor compatibility, motherboards, etc?
As @gloop suggested, it's probably easier to just use PCPartPicker, as they've got a pretty good compatibility filter, so when you pick a particular CPU, it should only show you boards that are supported. Also, particularly in the case of motherboards, if you go to said motherboard's webpage, it should say there what CPUs it is compatible with.

I could give you a quick rundown though of compatible processor generations and chipsets for AMD (particularly AM4 since Ryzen):
X570 - Ryzen 4000 (Zen 3, upcoming) Ryzen 3000 (Zen 2) CPUs, Ryzen 2000 (Zen+) CPUs, Ryzen 3000 (Zen+) APUs; on that note, APUs are always one generation behind the CPUs (3200G and 3400G are Zen+ SKUs, and the 2200G and 2400G are Zen 1) B550 - Ryzen 4000 (Zen 3), Ryzen 3000 (Zen 2) CPUs X470 & B450 - Ryzen 4000 (on some boards with a beta BIOS), Ryzen 3000 (on most boards with a BIOS update), Ryzen 2000 and Ryzen 1000 X370 & B350 - Ryzen 3000 (on some boards with a beta BIOS), Ryzen 2000 (with a BIOS update) and Ryzen 1000 A320 - trash Now hopefully this is pretty readable and understandable, but if it isn't, I just realised I could've just posted a compatibility chart directly from AMD which would've been easier for everyone:
