FF is what most people use as a short way of saying Firefox.

Yes, Ublock Origin is a lot better than adblock plus.  Adblock plus allows companies to buy their way onto a whitelist so that your ads still show up.
I think you would be better off using brave turning the shields up to "Aggressive" mode and then disabling all of the brave rewards / crypto stuff.

I'm not quite sure why you are so focused on "bad" sites.  Yes, there are malicious websites out there, but no search engine is going to protect you from that.
The difference between duckduckgo and google is google likes to track you and use the information it gets for advertising and stuff.  Duckduckgo doesn't do this or at least they claim not to.  Using either of them isn't going to stop bad websites as you put it from showing up in the results.

If you have a good anti-virus, such as bitdefender or kaspersky or something of the sort they will usually stop you if they detect a known phishing website or something tries to do a driveby download.

https everywhere isn't really needed anymore the functionality is built into FF.
You should absolutely be using ublock origin.

Brave is a different animal.  It's basically a degoogled chromium with its own adblock built in and a bunch of crypto junk.
The idea behind brave is they block ads and show their own privacy respecting ads instead and pay you in crypto called BAT.  Then you take the BAT and tip the content creators, so they don't lose money and you don't lose privacy.  So, with brave you don't need ublock or https everywhere.

Also, I wouldn't say Firefox is any safer than any of the others at this point.

pretty much in my opinion this is how it goes.  Use brave if you want a pretty good setup without messing with anything, you can opt out of the advertising and crypto parts if you want to.  Firefox is good if you want to sit there and set it up with things like Ublock Origin, Arkenfox's userjs etc.

I myself personally just use Edge with Ublock Origin, Sponsor block, and my Password Manager.

Opera is terrible because it's not the Opera everyone knew and loved back in the 2000's.  Opera was sold to a Chinese company who doesn't have the best reputation.  If you search the company, you find out they are allegedly involved in some horrible things, not really going to dive down that rabbit hole so if you want to find anything out just do a bit of looking and you'll see.

The bottom line is using any of the modern browers, firefox, brave, edge, vivaldi, chrome whatever are all about the same when it comes to overall security.
The most important thing is to keep all of your software and your operating system up to date.  Privacy on the other hand is where the browsers are different.
Chrome probably is the worst for that.  Brave is probably the best followed by a fully hardened firefox being next.  I'm sure edge isn't the greatest for privacy but when microsoft has the keys locking the door isn't gonna do much good eh?

I wouldn't personally worry about the LTE radios or anything like that.  I would be more worried about the battery that could potentially fail and set you / your bed on fire.  Rare occurrence yes but more worrisome than some tiny bit of non-ionizing radiation.

Edit:  Your body is constantly bombarded by radiation every day it's in the air all around you.  LTE, Television Signals, Public FM Radio, Wifi, not to mention the bloody sun.

It's bloatware junk that HP gets paid to put on their PCs.  Or it's a return.  Where did you purchase the computer?  Big box stores such as Walmart are known to take returns and then just chuck them on the shelf as a new item.  A brand-new windows 11 install straight from the ISO off Microsoft's servers have no such bookmarks.  If you are worried about it just download the windows media creation tool off the Microsoft website, make a USB and re-install windows yourself.

But most likely it's just trash that HP loads on for a payday.

Slight update to an old thread, but I'm in the same situation with a 2060 Super getting too hot unless I keep the side panel off the machine. I'm looking to buy the Raijintek Morpheus 8057, which should fit.

I'll remove the GPU to check if the cooling mounts fit tomorrow, and if the do I'll order one and report back with the results.

Because Microsoft decided Windows 11 requires TPM 2.0 support.  It will not install without it.  And from what I've seen at least on my own computers they don't have it enabled by default.

I agree, but there is also the problem of Windows 11 requiring either a layman to go into the uefi and turn on TPM if they have a supported platform.  I can't imagine them being able to handle doing that either.  And that isn't something you can do remotely for people either.

I agree there have been some significant improvements for Linux gaming over the last 5 years. But I definitely believe the layman is just going to get windows 11 because it will be far less effort than having to learn to use Linux.

As much as I love Linux and have used it as my main OS for years.  its just not an option for me anymore because of anti-cheat software.  The only way I could go back to using Linux as my main OS would be to give up gaming with my friends and I'm just not willing to do that.

I've been using the windows 11 dev preview all day since it came out and I think its great.  However I won't be doing anything "important" on it.  Anything important I keep a USB stick with linux on it boot to that, take care of the important things I need to do and then boot back to windows.

Guys, the OP said they would be buying parts used.  Not paying $600 for a first gen ryzen that would be crazy.
From my quick search around evilbay, I found the average price for a R7 1800 would be about $155 (USD)

Anyway I digress, I would say no way unless you can get the entire rig for like $500 - $600.

Something more like this would be better:  (for the GPU all you can do is sign up for evga's notify me and try to get one.)

I recommend the 3700X over a 5600X because the price difference is minimal and I think the extra cores are worth it over the small increase in IPC.
Also the 3060Ti is within about 5% of the 1080Ti from a quick google search.

Steve from Gamers Nexus has a video on the Fara R1 and its temps.

Exactly.  But the bullshit the big ISP's are trying to push to get people to agree to caps is "If George down the street uses 3TB of data and Sally uses 15GB why should Sally pay the same amount as George?"  So they're trying to get people to agree to caps under the fake guise that they will save money by agreeing to this shit.  And then they shovel the drivel to the government that people want caps and it allows innovation and all that shit...  Its all a crock of shit and its all in pursuit of greed.

Screw this bullshit, no sane customer would want data caps.  Data caps aren't gonna save anyone any money.  Charter just raises the price $10 every year anyway. People have been brainwashed with this trash that customers that use more should pay more.  Whats next people who watch more hours of TV should pay more too?  Guess what people that use less aren't gonna pay any less. Charter has been total garbage for as long as I've had them over 15 years now...  The only reason I have service from them at all is they don't have caps.  I don't give a flying fuck.  If they have caps like they used to have I will drop them so fucking fast and get 24 mbps DSL from the phone company.  I don't give a shit if its slower There is ZERO reason to have data caps other than to milk the poor customers who have no other choice dry.  They're just pissed off that the streaming services have driven away customers from their shitty ass cable TV rip off.  Fuck Charter, they're a bunch of greedy assholes.
