  1. You mean check it after clearing the cmos without changing any settings? I'll check one stick at a time later this week when my new thermal paste gets here. I have to take things apart to get to the ram.
  2. Unmolded, if you're referring to that clear resin type stuff that they started putting over the die on the later cards? It's a completely bare die. So is there nothing to worry about with it or??
  3. Hi all, so I noticed my spare vega 56 getting SUUUUUUUPER hot. So i replaced the thermal compound with some NT-H1. The temps on the card seem about what they used to be when I first got it with the exception of the hotspot... The hotspot reaches 100C.... This is a reference model card from Powercolor with the blower cooler. Is there any way to fix the 100+ hotspot temps?
  4. @TofuHaroto I ran memtest86 on it settings for 2666 for about a hour while I was away from the computer I came back and it didn't have any errors after an hour. I know it can take many hours for an issue to show up. However my system is still randomly locking up on me. Most of the time I'll have a twitch stream playing on my second monitor and then all of a sudden the stream stops playing. Most of the time I can still hear sound task manager is the only thing that responds, I can usually open it VERY VERY slowly. But I noticed that when it opens it will say something like 47% CPU usage but ALL of the tasks say 0% and it stops updating. The only way to do anything is hit the reset button on the case. Its so damn strange!! I ran prime95 large FFTs for over 30 minutes and no lockups or anything. Its not always at idle but it seems to happen more often when I've just got a video playing and I'm not actively doing anything on the computer. I've had it happen ONE time so far while playing world of warships. I'm running out of ideas on how to narrow it down, is the motherboard junk, is the memory controller on the CPU toast? Is the ram junk? I don't want to go RMAing every part in the PC. I'd like to be able to narrow it down. The other problem is I no longer have a warranty on the motherboard, so if that is junk i'm toast. Also SoC voltage in the bios does NOT match what I see in HWiNFO64. The bios when its set to auto puts it at 1.04v, in HWiNFO it shows 1.019v. 1.12v in bios is what XMP sets the SoC voltage to. This shows 1.087v in HWiNFO64. I've already tried updating to the latest bios on MSI's website as well. This is a couple of snippets from HWiNFO64 while idle on the desktop with XMP Profile applied: The ONLY things I have done in the bios after resetting it is apply XMP and switch my CPU fan(s) to DC mode instead of PWM. Bios says 1.12v for SoC. EDIT: Still getting errors...
  5. So set CPU NB/SoC voltage to Override mode and type in 1.10? (MSI's new Bios is crappy its hard to find anything.) Its currently at 1.04V
  6. Its a Mini ITX board it only has two ram slots. Fabric is set 1:1, ram voltage is already 1.35V and I was using XMP. The settings it passed with is 2666MHz 17-19-19-39
  7. @TofuHaroto @MartinKwehSystem is in my sig. Yes the errors was with XMP enabled. Voltage was set to like 1.35v already 3700X MSI B450I TeamGroup T-Force Vulcan Z kit is rated at 3200MHz 16-18-18 38
  8. Hi, I've been having freezing issues with my PC, I ran window's memory diagnostic test and it failed. This is with the ram set to 3200MHz with the timings on the box. For shits and giggles I decided to change the memory settings in the bios to 2666 and loosen all the timings by 1 value. I re-ran the memory test that windows includes and it passes at 2666 with the looser timings. Is it bad ram or something else??
  9. 3700x on a MSI b450i, If I'm running cinebench r20, my all core turbo seems to be 3.9GHz, but I will randomly see cores drop to 2.8GHz I thought the base clock is 3.6? Is there something strange going on here? I don't seem to be running into any thermal throttling issues the most i hit is about 70C. It will be running the test and then boom 2.8ghz on a couple cores then they clock back up and more cores drop to 2.8... I've changed nothing in the BIOS besides enabling 3200 on my ram. Edit: If i'm just idle on the desktop with nothing running voltage drops to between 0.9 and 1.0V but it stays at 3.6GHz
  10. @Moonzy I'm running two monitors most of the time, a 60Hz 2560x1440 and a 144Hz 1920x1080, but sometimes I even add my 4K 60Hz TV to the mix to play some controller friendly steam games on.
  11. UMMMM... I get that kind of latency on my cable internet I don't know what you're talking about. I've NEVER seen latency below about 35 - 40 ms even to a server that is like 20 miles from me. Gaming on that kind of latency would be perfectly fine...
  12. Seems about right, I have a 2060 Super and it idles at 1065MHz, 30 or 40C is fine. Could also be ambient temps, dust etc. Mine idles around 40 - 45... Don't worry about it. Idle temps like that will have no effect on the card. Besides idle temps aren't what one should worry about its load temps that matter.
  13. The XBOX is the only console I can think of that you can activate digital games from other sources. I don't think I have EVER seen a digital code for a PS4 game or Nintendo game on a 3rd party store. There are a TON of other devices that only allow you to buy from the included store. Amazon tablets, Roku, etc. These devices only let you use the included stores and there aren't codes elsewhere for them. This is nothing new or unique to Apple.
  14. I did not read the whole thread to see if it has been mentioned but Google has removed it from the play store now as well for the same reason Apple has. I know its the cool thing to do to hate on Apple. But I agree with Apple on this, Epic agreed to a set of terms when they put the app on the store and they chose to violate the agreement. I for one am glad that Apple moderates what goes on the app store. It gets rid of all the scams and malware trash that runs rampant on the play store. The google play store is a wild west full of trash, malware and scams. If I am looking for an app for something at least I know if its on the iOS app store its reasonably likely its going to be safe to use and to do what it says its going to do.
