  1. Thank you all for your recommendations and insights! This is where I'm at right now: PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 3.8 GHz 12-Core Processor €415.00 @ Amazon Deutschland CPU Cooler Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black 55 CFM CPU Cooler €76.89 @ ARLT Motherboard MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard Memory G.Skill Ripjaws V 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory €171.50 @ Mindfactory Storage Sabrent Rocket 512 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive €79.98 @ Amazon Deutschland Video Card XFX Radeon VII 16 GB Video Card Case Phanteks Eclipse P600S ATX Mid Tower Case €149.90 @ Amazon Deutschland Power Supply Corsair RMx White (2018) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply €136.89 @ Alternate Operating System Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit €111.50 @ Mindfactory Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total €1141.66 Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-06-18 14:06 CEST+0200 (=> actually about 1,950 €) I decided to stick with the case because I like the airflow/silence flexibility and a few other mentioned advantages. If the 10-20 € price difference for the power supply become a deciding factor I now have a good option to go a bit lower. When it comes to the motherboard the MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk looks to me like the best option, if it's available anywhere. I'll buy the parts over the next three months (realistically), so we'll see ...
  2. Oh, good catch! Thanks! Since I don't think I'll use NVIDIA SLI in the future I'll stick with -P. @marmour Thanks, I will look into that!
  3. Budget (including currency): 1,500-2,000 € Country: Germany Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 4K editing with DaVinci Resolve Other details: I don't need WLAN or Bluetooth. I'd love the PC to be quiet when used for day to day stuff like browsing. It can be loud when it's rendering. I already have enough monitors and peripherals. What I came up with: PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 3.8 GHz 12-Core Processor €417.99 @ Mindfactory Motherboard Asus PRIME X570-P ATX AM4 Motherboard €199.00 @ Amazon Deutschland Memory Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory €134.90 @ Amazon Deutschland Storage Samsung 970 Evo 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive €106.80 @ Alza Video Card XFX Radeon VII 16 GB Video Card Case Phanteks Eclipse P600S ATX Mid Tower Case €149.90 @ Amazon Deutschland Power Supply Corsair RMx White (2018) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply €136.89 @ Alternate Operating System Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit €126.89 @ Alternate Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total €1272.37 Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-06-17 13:43 CEST+0200 (When manually calculating the parts I found online the total is 1,865 € due to some price differences and the included 590 € for the Radeon VII.) My rationales for this parts are: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X Seems like the price/performance sweet spot. Asus Prime X570-P Also price/performance and it looks cool. Eclipse P600S, Tempered Glass - white So I could enjoy relatively quiet performance but can take the front off when it renders. XFX Radeon VII Seems to be nearly as good or sometimes even better than a NVIDIA GeForce 2080 Ti for DaVinci Resolve tasks but only costs half. 32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX black DDR4-3200 DIMM CL16 Dual Kit Leaves the option to upgrade to 64 GB. Later I might replace them all to get up to 128 GB. 500GB Samsung 970 Evo Plus M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe 1.3 3D-NAND TLC (MZ-V7S500BW) Just for the start. When the heavy editing begins I can add another 1 TB SSD. CORSAIR RM750X Should be enough and is modular. Windows 10 Home Remember when Windows 10 used to be free? Sigh ... Might upgrade to Pro later but I'm not sure if I need it. What do you experienced folks think? Thank you!
