  1. Linus's response was at best a rant, he didn't mention any reflection on the issues raised. The errors in the videos have been getting worse and worse for best part of a year now and the Labs was advertised as being the answer to everything but so far, the info from the Labs seems even more error prone and "we're still developing our testing methodology" isn't an excuse, if you've not locked down the testing don't put the information out there. Short circuit channel shouldn't exist, they can claim it isn't a review but if you're saying giving you a buy or not to buy opinion then it's a review. If it's unboxing then unbox it and give facts about the product, the instant you give your opinions or preferences you're reviewing it.
  2. Does anyone know of a simple way of stopping Windows 11 downloading driver updates during a fresh install and then also stopping them going forward? I've been having issues with the AMD Radeon 22.11.2 driver and want to roll back to an older version but Windows keeps pushing an update to 22.11.2. More annoyingly when trying to do a fresh install of Windows 11 I often run into setup issues as the OS is installing device drivers in the background.
  3. Hi, I've just got my first HDR monitor and I'm wondering what's the best way to calibrate it using DisplayCal? I have a Spyder X and previously it's been easy to calibrate SDR displays but not sure about the best approach with HDR. Do I just calibrate it in SDR mode?
  4. My AOC CU34G2X has developed a cluster of dead pixels over the last week, luckily it's just inside it's 2 year warranty, so Amazon UK are accepting a return and giving me a refund. I was hoping for a replacement but they are out of stock. So I need to find a replacement, I will have around £550 to spend and I'm not sure what to go for. I love the 34" ultrawide monitor but would like to have some HDR support. I mainly play RPGs, horror games and WoW, with the occasional shooter thrown in. The best option I've seen so far in my price bracket is the Dell S3422DWG, it seems to be very close in performance to my outgoing CU34G2X but with much better brightness and HDR400 support (or HDRn't as Linus says). Anything better though seems to double the price point. My other thought was to grab a 48" OLED like the OLED48A16LA. Yes it's only the entry level A1 so lacks VRR and is only 60hz and the brightness isn't fantastic but it should still offer a good HDR gaming experience? It's currently £585 on Amazon.co.uk. I'm open to other ideas but 34" ultrawide is what I'd like or a OLED panel.
  5. So my printer appears to be having coordinate issues and starts printing off axis for no apparent reason. Anyone had this issue before and have an idea on how to fix it?
  6. Given that here in the UK energy bills are predicted to increase by 150% by next year and our Government doesn't see this as an issue I'm wondering if swapping my current PSU to a Titanium rated one would be a good investment and hopefully reduce my energy usage. Current PSU is a Corsair RM1000X which is 80+ Gold with a 3800XT CPU and 6800XT GPU
  7. Has Clarence left LMG? He's not on the team list on the site any more
  8. Please involve Clarence in some more videos. Maybe as a non gamer you could use him for some "can you tell the difference between" type videos
  9. I left my previous career in retail a few years ago due to some mental health issues and have been unemployed since. I did a 3 week coding course (HTML, CCS, JavaScript) in 2020 just before the pandemic hit and the company I did it with was struggling to find apprenticeships for those who completed the course. Fast forward and now things seem to be more stable and I'm feeling better in myself I want to pursue coding further, hopefully as a career but also as a hobby. My only problem is where do I start? What languages are useful/in demand? Where are some good resources for a beginner? Are there free courses online/YouTube that I can follow along with? Any direction or help would be gratefully received.
  10. Unfortunately they opened the ticket before I had a chance to do anything. eBay live support isn't available at the moment but will try them in the morning. All the messages theyve sent through eBay so have evidence of them admitting they changed the BIOS
  11. Recently sold my watercooled Vega 64 on ebay.co.uk, never had any issues with it and was working perfectly when sold. Buyer has contacted me today alleging that the memory is running too hot at 100c which is affecting performance and asking if I has installed the waterblock correctly, obviously its been running fine for me even when overclocked so it can't be installed incorrectly. Additionally the memory on the Vega series sits right next to the die so there would be other issues if incorrectly installed. Anyway, asked them what tests they've done to show its not working correctly and asked for proof of the issues which has not been supplied. Turns out the test they were running was a mining stress test on the memory and that they've already flashed a mining BIOS to the card. They've asked if they can take the block off and repaste but any damage is my responsibility or want to return it. Normally I'd just accept the return relist it but given they've flashed a BIOS I've so far refused to accept the return as I have no idea if there's something wrong with that BIOS that might have damaged the card. Not sure I should be expected to deal with a return and costs when they've altered the BIOS and using it for mining which isn't its intended purpose What would other people do? Would you accept the return or fight it?
  12. Mostly playing RPG's and WoW with some Forza. Currently on an Assassin's Creed marathon. Monitor is 144hz but not getting that kind of FPS in those games and probably never will.
  13. Currently running a 3800XT and debating if its worth upgrading to a 5600X or 5800X? I mostly game and re-encode Blu Rays using Handbrake. GPU is a 6800XT and I game at 3440x1440 so not sure if I'll see much of an improvement
  14. Got a 6800xt on the way to replace my Vega 64, do I need to uninstall the drivers and reinstall when the new card is in or should it all just work?
  15. Budget (including currency): £300-400 Country: United Kingdom Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: WoW, Horror Games, RTS (Stellaris and Civ5), Shooters (CoD, Battlefield) lots of RPG's. Basically a good mix of games. PC also used for processing Blu Rays through Handbrake. Current Build 3800XT 32GB DDR4 3600mhz CL16 RAM 4X8GB Asus B550-E Vega 64 2x Samsung PM981 1TB NVMe SSD in Raid 0 ( 5000MB/s Read and 47090MB/s write) 3x 500g WD Black in Raid 0 - used for game recording and project storage Corsair RM100X PSU Phanteks Evolv X case Creative Sound Blaster X7 with matching E-MU XM7 Bookshelf Speakers DT 990 Pro and DT 770 Pro Headphones AOC CU34G2X 3440x1440 monitor Razer Huntsman TE Keyboard (Linear Optical Switches) Razer Naga Wireless Mouse Razer Tartarus Pro Keypad Xbox Elite Controller Full custom loop, CPU, RAM, GPU and NVMe drives all cooled (RAM and NVMe done because why not, it looks cool) So basically its coming up to Crimbo and tradition is I pool the money I normally get together and buy something for my gaming setup. Last years plan was to upgrade the GPU but I refuse to pay triple MSRP for a card and really can't afford to be dropping £1200-£1400 for a 6800XT or RTX 3080 anyway. This years availability as you're probably aware is pretty much the same so looks like my poor old Vega 64 is with me for a while longer yet (and to be fair it's still doing a cracking job). So I'm looking for suggestions of what else I could upgrade? Thought about ditching the Sound Blaster X7 for a Sound Blaster AE-9 or something from Schiit audio but I'm happy with the current sound and not sure how much better something else would be. Could upgrade the SSD's but they're fairly quick anyway and only one m.2 is PCIe Gen 4 so I doubt there's much mileage in it. So any suggestions welcome, if not then it'll probably go towards my Unraid Server or add to the never ending pile of money I throw at my 3D Printer (God I wish they would stop randomly working)
