My best guess - Windows10 updates. Had many surprises throughout the years on my previous setups with surprises like booting into recovery screens all of sudden.

I don't know about the smooth part but the cherry mx brown are well known to be "tactile" where you have to really work hard to find the tactility there.   I had a keyboard with those and they really felt like linear switches.  The kalh brown feel a bit more tactile and are way more satisfying to type on.

I haven't tried any of those keyboard so I can't help you with those.  The thing I know is that those two keyboards have linear switches, they are not tactile that feels almost linear.  Also the mx speed have a really short actuation distance and the spring is quite light so you might press some keys by mistake compared to some other switches.

Maybe you could look at ducky or durgod keyboard as they usually have good reviews.

You could get a switch tester to try some ... but it's usually not really representative of the real feeling when typing or gaming.   IMO, the best way to try different type of switches without buying a complete keyboard every time is to buy a hot swapable keyboard or barebone like the gmmk.  From that point you can just buy switches to fill the board and test them out.  I have the gmmk in tkl and for now I have 3 set of switches ... gateron yellow for smooth linear, kailh speed copper for really tactile feeling and kailh box white for clicky ... actually I just got the kailh box white and I haven't tried them yet.  I'm not planning on stopping there and my next buy might be the kailh silent box pink or brown.

Whit that you can also try different set of keycaps, different material and profile.

Don't pick EVO. It's too old at this point, and even CoolerMaster has made new versions of it. Something like Arctic Freezer eSports 33/34 is easily better pick.

Evo has good recommendations because it's been on markets so long, but it's dropped from top position years ago.

I have a 5700xt and went from a 27 inch 1080p monitor to a 27inch 1440p monitor and the difference in resolution to me was huge. I can’t go back to using 1080p now

Get a monitor that is double the price of GPU? Naah ignore that saying. Also yes definitely you'll notice 144Hz over 60Hz. So get a 144Hz monitor and decide if you want 1080p or 1440p which is solid and can be good for your machine.

dsong98 reacted to SolarNova in How expensive should my monitor be?
Ideally, u want to have the option to at least spend 2x the cost of your GPU. Ofc the more expensive your GPU the low the multiplier should become. I wouldn't suggest u need to spend $2000 on a Monitor if you  buy a 2080ti for example.

However, cheaping out on a monitor effectively gimps ur PC.

Spending $500 on a GPU then only $200 on a Monitor is a bad decision as monitors in that price range will have some serious flaws.

Do take the time to read through my Pinned thread.

As expensive as you can afford. Remember, if you buy a good monitor now, you don't need to upgrade it anytime soon.

you're right to be hesitant, that's weird advice.

with a 5700xt, though, a 1440p 144hz would work well. bear in mind that most 1440p monitors come in 27 or 32 in (I would recommend 27). if you want to stick to 24, go for the 1080p.

also look for a VA or IPS screen from a decent company that has response time below 4ms.

another option is to look at ultrawide screens

this is a good option, but there are many others like it:

The double price thing sounds like BS, monitors aren't that expensive anymore.

I think I got my main gaming monitor (Samsung 144hz quantum dot curved 24") used without a stand for about £100 ($120), and I paired it with a VESA arm (£30-ish). Looking at your GPU, I'd go for a 1080p 144hz like mine.

And with a slight change in soc and dram voltage you can always try going for 3600 with the 3200 kit

Just flipping it from 3200 to 3600 is only a ~2% difference in certain games, mainly shooters, ubisoft titles and mhw.

it's noticeable with further fine tuning, no matter which one u buy the stock timings are just ridiculously loose, up to you if you wanna go down that rabbit hole though. I personally would not buy anything thats 3200/16 3600/18 etc since for awhile 3600/16 was only 20dollars more.

JayzTwoCents actually posted a video about this today. In games i actially mattered. Not much, but it did. I'd recommend to watch it before making any decisions. LTT has videos on this topic too. But 3200MHz is fine for the most part.
TLDW of the videos is: Don't buy 2133 or 2666 because 3000 or 3200 is pretty much the same price and make sure to enable XMP.

1.) B550 seems to be very beneficial. They support PCIe gen 4, permit higher speed memory (one I saw went to 5000mhz I think), and will support Zen 3 processors (Ryzen 4000 series and likely more). Their official release date is in 2 days
2.) The 5700xt is a very valuable card for the price. If you plan on playing those games at 144Hz or 1440p it's probably a fair pick up, but if you have a 1080p 60-75Hz monitor you could get away with a cheaper card.
3.) The difference is very minimal. Pretty much all 3200Mhz 8x2 16 Ram is the same. I go for the cheaper options. If you get a b550 it could be worth it to get some high speed ram (or get that ram until a later upgrade).
4.) As far as game performance and SSDs, the impact is very small. SSDs will speed up loading times, but can also affect how fast models are loaded into some open world games (I don't think the games you have listed are affected.) I have the 250mb version of wd blue for my OS and a few games, and a 2tb drive for everything else. NVME SSDs are dropping in price so that is something to consider.
5.) Honestly too lazy rn to look up
6.) This one is cheaper with a higher max power (as far as I see)
    https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Power-Supply-Units/cxm-series-2015-config/p/CP-9020103-NA?utm_source=PCPartPicker_79301&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=497986_CORSAIR US Product Catalog Ad&utm_content=Content&clickid=31jWV03Qa3UqSzPSo6QYkTgTUki3Z9yfP1WlW00&irgwc=1
7.) To put it simply, if your monitor is 60FPS, you could get the same effective frame rate with an rx580. The RX5700 XT would be nice for future proofing and if you want to update the monitor later.
8.) There are some cheap packs of rgb fans that you can buy for $35-$50. Might not be worth the upgrade if the case already comes with many fans, but if you need them added they are a good pickup.

Edit: 7.) A rx580 is a little bit of an exaggeration here. It can't run all AAA games at 60fps + high, but most can. A better comparison may have been an rx5600xt

    1. B450 will be fine, you'll have enough compatibility to last you long enough. Worst comes to worst you have to buy a new board
    2. Depends on the resolution and refresh rate you're playing on
    3. Either or is fine.
    4. It's up to you. I'd opt for the bigger SSD initially and get another 2TB HDD if you need it. They're around 50 bucks.
    5. Are you overclocking? You can drop it if not. The 3600 isn't very warm
    6. In list below
    7. Probably nothing thats over 1080p 60hz then. I'd put some budget into a better display. Or if you want to save money, you can get a much cheaper gpu
    8. Get an RGB strip. They're 10 bucks.
