  1. That’s good to hear, my old rig wasn’t bad or anything, but I want to try and game in 1140p is that possible? And what do you mean by a “shit” board? Is this not a good choice? Unfortunately I’m committed as I made my purchase. But I guess returns are possible.
  2. I’m realizing I didn’t post specs in og post
  3. Budget (including currency): $1860 Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Forza Horizon 4, Assasins Creed Odyssey, Far Cry 5, Dark Souls What can can I expect performance wise from this machine I’m upgrading from a GTX 970/Intel i7 2600k/8gb DDR3 machine. This is my first AMD build and my first PC build in nearly a decade. I over spent on the case but I fell in love with it, and that was best price currently available to me. I’m pretty sure my components all are compatible and fit within the case. What can I expect to aim for performance wise in terms of gaming and light streaming via twitch and OBS? I have a 4K tv can I comfortably play triple a single player games at 30fps and above? 4. Thanks again for humouring my questions. It’s just my main concern is with the next gen consoles pitching ray tracing as the new sexy feature in games. Will I end up left out with my 5700xt that can’t keep up with the way things are moving. Am I reading into this a bit too much?
  5. Can the 5700xt do ray tracing?
  6. Ooo I really like the fractal design case!! Ty for the recommendations!! I’ve heard of some issues with the 5700xt is that something I should concern myself with?
  7. Ok ty for the suggestion, and that’s certainly something that is an issue with my home. It’s hot here. Do you have a case recommendation that has tempered glass and good airflow?
  8. Will this case work with the components you mention? https://www.newegg.com/black-darkflash-dlm-22-micro-atx-mini-itx/p/2AM-008X-00008?&quicklink=true
  9. Ty so much for the suggestions guys. I guess I should mention a few more things about myself and how I game. I intend to use this PC with my 4k TCL 50” as the display output. So the refresh rates and all that stuff are probably terrible. And quite frankly I don’t care at all about it. I only need and want a clean/noise free/cool temp machine that can run games at min 60fps. Also the games I play are in no way competitive, as I rarely ever play online competitively. Games like CS GO, Overwatch, etc, are not my bag. Also no way someone could suggest a Intel/Nvidia equivalent? I only ask because this is the platform I’ve been with for 10+ years, so I’m more familiar. Finally I’m in absolutely no hurry, and I constantly am seeing many people suggest waiting for the new hardware on the horizon. Should I consider this (will I get better value waiting)? Or is what I’m after achievable rn for within my budget?
  10. Nice ty for the suggestion. The 2070 would be the Nvidia counterpart in terms of GPU?
  11. Budget (including currency): $1200 CDN Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Forza Horizon 4, Assasins Creed Odyssey, Dark Souls Series, Triple A games Other details: At the moment my rig is a dated i7 2600k, GTX 970, 8gb ddr3, 500w psu. I’d like a machine that doesn’t break the bank, because I intend to move most my gaming to the next gen consoles in the near future. However I do enjoy the flexibility and open structure afforded to pc gamers. My current rig is adequately running most the games I currently play. But it runs hot, loud, and generally unstable if I try to push it past medium settings. I’m not a competitive gamer and I play on a TCL 50” 4k display so refresh rate isn’t really a concern either. 60 FPS is the goal (especially for FH4) and ideally I’d like a system that can pull that off at 1440p or higher.
  12. Update so blowing out the gpu fixed the overheating issue!
  13. Budget (including currency): $1600 CDN Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Forza Horizon 4, Dark Souls Series, Red Dead Redemption, GTA V, Various other racing games. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I’m starting fresh and an completely open to ideas, my current PC is an Intel i7 3.4 Sandy Bridge CPU, GTX 970, 650 PSU, 2 SSDs (180gb/500gb). So ideally something that outperforms my dated machine that’s not gonna break the bank. It is however ideal for me personally to stay with an Intel based system, as I’m more familiar with the platform. Also I’d like for the case to be subtle and have good airflow/cable management.
  14. Thanks for the suggestion, if i cant figure it out tonight, my next step is buying the thermal paste and trying that fix!!
  15. I have the MSI GeForce GTX 970 4gb card
  16. Hello I’ve just recently started having issues when gaming using my GTX 970, after about ten minutes the screen crashes goes black and reads as no display device connected. The only fix is to restart the PC. This instability only occurs when the GPU is being used, if I’m browsing web, using other apps (non gpu intensive) no issues. I just recently updated to the lastest Nvidia driver so that’s updated. I did this after I started having issues, so that’s not cause of it, but has not fixed it. I've run a temp test on the gpu when not under load it stays at around 42-48 celsius and when under heavy load (running forza horizon 4) the temps on the gpu climb all the way to over 90 celsius until ultimately crashing. Any ideas what might be happening here??
