  1. Hi all, So after years of pestering Openreach to install Fibre in my area, it was finally installed by a company called BeFibre. However as of today, all devices on my network are gettin access to the full 900mbps. On the other hand, my PC wont go past 60mbps download and 2mbps upload, which is abismal. Ive tried fioddling with network adapter properties, tried a new ethernet cable, i disabled something in cmd but after that didnt work, i re enabled it. The weird part is that when i connect via wifi im getting speeds upwards of 400mbps, but to be fair i am far away from my router so im not surprised im not getting the full bandwidth via wifi. I have a cable which runs directly from the back of my router, into my room, and into a switch, which is currently what is only giving me the 60mbps down and 2mbps up. Im just a bit lost and was wondering if anybody could help? Thank you to anybody who can help PC Spec :- Amd Ryzen 3700x 16gb 3400mhz Ram RTX 3070 MSI B550 Gaming Edge Wifi
  2. hmm okay, i may have to do a little more digging, but this does help, thank you
  3. Hi, im looking at buying an NZXT H1 V1, as i want my PC to be smaller for when i go to UNI. However im sturggling to find out of my MSI RTX 3070 Ventus 2X will fit in this case. Ive seen that the Ventus 3X may be too liong, but nothing about the height of the card. I think NZXT says that cards with a max of 50mm high will fit, but ive seen cards taller than that be put into the case. COuld anybody help with this please, because i want to buy ASAP. Thanks, George
  4. Hi all, so I was wondering if there is a way to access my Jellyfin server from outside my house without having to use HTTPs, because I don't want to have to open my ports. I've seen some things like the website https://www.remote.it/ , but I have no clue if I would be able to access my Jellyfin server outside of my house with this piece of software. I have already read through a few forums about the best ways to protect your server, when opening up ports on your router to it, but I don't know if it is worth the time and effort to do all of that. If anybody knows a way I can port forward, to my Jellyfin server, whilst still having good protection to my Server and other devices on my Network, that would also be good. If the solution which anyone recommends is a mostly secure solution, I'm all ears, and will happily take the time out of my day in order to go through the process of it. For context, my Jellyfin server is currently hosted on a windows machine. I haven't switch to Linux, because I don't know how to convert all my hard disks with all my data on onto the file system Linux uses, without losing all my data on my hard disks. If anyone could give a solution to that issue also, that would be great. If anybody has any solutions, that may work that would be great Thanks, George
  5. Budget (including currency): £100 - £200 Country: United Kingdom Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Jellyfin, NAS, Family Pictures/Videos. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Hi all, So I am looking at buying a machine to act as a small home server to store family pictures and videos, Run a Jellyfin server and act as a NAS. This will be primarily used for the Jellyfin server, but other things aswell. Now I have seen many solutions online to buying/building a machine to run this off of, however i dont want something high power or big that iwll get in the way. People have mentioned laptops too me, which is currently the solution i have atm but it is not really an effective solution in my opinion. Ive seen and looked at Intel NUC's but i wouldnt know how much power i really need to be able to run this Jellyfin server, with multiple users active at once, max of 3 at once maybe. I thought about a Rasberry PI but they seem like they wouldnt be able to handle transcoding very well, or at least that whats ive heard from people. Im just not sure at this point, what would be best for my needs. I am also planning on running a few other things of of this machine in the future, but they are not high usage. I would also like a high speed USB port of some sort so i can attach an external Hard-drive bay, and maybe a 2.5 gigabit ethernet, although not a priority. For the Software side of things, i really do not want to use windows as the OS because i have that on my laptop atm and its not the best(Its Crap). I would also like to be able to run an incremental backup of my data and it would be usefull if i can access it from my main PC remotely, so I can manage it. Apart from that i cannot really think of anything else. Thankyou to anybody who can help me Thanks, George
  6. Thank you for all the help, its been a real use
  7. Actually alos, are there any other DACs/AMPs u recommend, i have had a look at the Schiit Asgard 3 and it seems quite expensive in comparison to the headphone, also would i need the AMP and DAC or one or the other? These would 99% of the time be used on my PC
  8. Thank you Very much Marcgii, i will take a look into the amp you recomended.
  9. Erm no, tbh im just sorta doing my own research now. Into headphones etc. So to answer ur question, no i do still need a DAC, but i will choose the one that will go best in my opinion with the headphones i choose. Im currently looking at Sennheiser HD 6XX and HiFiMAN Sundara's .
  10. Thank you for that information, its been really useful to know. Whats a pair of headphones that you recommend then? Based off the information above.
  11. Hello all, So I recently made a post about headphones that were a good substitute for an actual surround sound system. However i realised its all in the software in the end. And obviously to an extent the quality of the headphones. Now what i want to know is out of THX spatial audio software, Dolby Atomos, DTS software etc, do any of these convert 2 channel audio into multi channel surround sound audio. And if not what other ways can i do this, because ik that Atmos for instance requires support from whatever your doing, e.g playing a game or watching a film. I was wondering if any of the softwares above or any others convert the stereo audio into multi channel? This is because i want to be sure before i pay for one of them. Ive used up my trials on atmos and THX before i actually realised i needed to research this. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help George
  12. So they need to work with my PC and my TV, both have aux output, and both have optical out aswell. My TV has hdmi arc aswell. And its not too important for the headphones to be wireless. Im more concerned about the dolby atmos support dts etc. I have used dolby atmos in cases and it has improved immersion with headphones for me at least. I also saw the dolby headphones. Cant remember the exact name though.
  13. Hello all, so recently ive been looking around at buying surround sound system, however due to problems with the neighbours i cannot do this. However, I discovered online that there are some brands that do home theatre headphones. The 2 best ones ive seen so far are the Sony WH-L600, and the JVC xp-ext1. I am struggling to find places online that recommend headphones for this purpose. So I was hoping if anybody on here could help me out. It would be convienient if they would work with my PC and if they have an external transmitter or DAC sorta thing like with the JVC headphones. I am very interested in virtual surround sound, ive used it before and ive liked it in some situations as a substitute. I noticed weith the JVC headphones that the Dac thing is able to convert stero or 5.1 audio into some sort of 3d audio, but i wasnt sure if that would work on my pc if i used them on there, and with the sony ones aswell if any of the Dolby Atmos or DTS modes would work on my pc aswell. I am not necessarily fussed about price, but im not going to be paying extra-ordinate prices. Around what the JVC ones cost and maybe less. If anybody can help it would be much appriciated. Thanks, George
  14. okie dokie ty, i just wanted re assuring, sorry if t was a dumb question
  15. okie dokie and i assume from that point, if i want to update the bios, i will just have to download a new bios version onto a usb, and put it into the motherboard for it to update?
  16. Ah okay i see thats good to know, Ive just never done anything like this before and wanted to be sure about things before i purchase
  17. Sorry forgot to mention that part, its an EVGA Z170 Stinger Mini ITX, and i was eithet gonna go for one of these 4, Intel i5-6600k, i5-7600, i5-7600k, i7-6700k.
  18. So, im about to purchase a second hand Z170 motherboard, and the guy has said that he has updated the BIOS to the latest version. Ive asked him whether that version will support 6th or 7th Intel, however i thought id come on here and ask aswell. If i buy a CPU that doesnt fit the BIOS version, how will i know and how do iknow which bios version to change to, because the EVGA website is poo and doesnt say what gen intel CPU it supports. This might sound like a dumb few questions, however ive never done this and its part of a project im currently working on. Thanks in advance George
  19. well u see, i dont rlly have the space for another system, and it might seem completely overkill or however you would want to put it, but i have a Phanteks P500A with support for dual systems. Aside form the dual system power supply from phanteks costing around £200, I was hoping to try and utilise this dual system option, because it would be something cool and a good project for me, but also just something different. Ik it sounds mad spending alot of money on something that isnt going to do alot but i will evenetualy find other uses for this system. So aside form the PSU, id like to spend up to £250, and have something with a little bit of horsepower, but not loads.
  20. Its to run my Jellyfin server and a few other smaller programs on across my home netwrok, Its also going to kind of Act as a NAS.
  21. What CPU and motherboard would you recommend, for price to performence? Bearing in mind the Motherboard has to be ITX. I also dont really want to spend more than £200-£250.
  22. Hi, so i was wondering if i could get some help, im struggling to find an ITX motherboard for the lga1151 socket. I dont want to be spending lots of money of this board as i will be either putting an intel 6600k or an intel 7600k in this board. I have so far only found 1 or 2. Maybe im looking in the wrong plcaes, idk. but i cant really find anywhere online that shows me a list of itx boards for that socket. Anyway if anybody could help, that would be appreciated. Thanks in advance George
  23. Hi all, so im looking at buying a mechanical keybaord. The only preferences for this keybaord would that it have brown switches, and no rgb. Maybe some white backlit keys, but thats the mmost lighting id like. I have no clue where t look or start, what companies are good, whether or not i should make a custom one or get a prebuilt one. I dont really want to spend more that £160, because im not too fussy. Either an 80% or a 100% keybaord would be great if anybody has any great suggestions. If anybody could help that would be great. Thanks in advance
  24. Hi, so ive been using a basic microsoft keybaord for ages now and although its great, i just feel that i want to upgrade to somethng a bit more clean. I liked the idea of having a retro themed keybaord, but most of the ones i have seen either have very little to no reviews, so it makes me wonder whether or not i should buy it and whether or not it will be any good. And by retro i mean like a 1980s themed keybaord with the off white colour and the weird tinted coloured keys. Like a commodore 64 or a VIC-20 sort of thing. I would preferably like brown switches to. Im also not that fussy about different noises that the keys make. I also dont really want to spend any more than £100. If anyone has any recommendations that would be great. Thanks in advance to anyone that has any ideas. P.S UK iso, because im from the UK
  25. Hi all, so i thought id tell you all a story about one of my friend who has one of the worst internet connections known to man. So he had internet issues for a very very very long time until he finally decided to get a new router and switch to the so called "super fast fibre optic broadband" from sky, which in our area is not true, because it is only fiber to the green box, and then copper cable to the premesis. Now, before he got his new router and upgraded to the so called "super fast fiber optic broadband", he had an average speed of around 1.2mbps, which is completely awful compared to the max i can get which is 33.3mbps and i only live up the road from him. But since he got his new router his speeds now average 1.9mbps even though sky advertise a 30mbps download speed. I have tried to help him but he can be very incompitent and it can be very difficult to explain things to him. The more pressing issue is that he cannot play any online mode in fifa without having to have more than 300ms, which is atrocious. I have given my own ideas as to what could be the issue, as Sky did not seem to report on any connection issues. Im not to sure if he has his house connected to the internet via telephone line or through cable underground. Also networking is not my strongest point, however i can follow on with what people say and understand. If anyone could comment with any usefull tips or any ideas as to what might be the issue it would be great. Thank you to anyone that can help
