  1. Alright, thanks for the help. I'm probably just going to upgrade to a 640M, but would you say its a good dual-core?
  2. I have an old Dell XPS L701X that has a Core i5 480m and a GT 435M. I'm very interested on working on this laptop because you can swap CPU's. I have done quite a bit of research and know for sure that I can upgrade to a Core i7 640M, but is there any way that I can upgrade to a Clarksfield chip? I know that anything beyond the 640M doesn't have integrated graphics, which in theory, shouldn't work because the laptop uses Nvidia Optimus. If I wanted to upgrade to a Clarksfield chip, would I be able to disable Optimus and easily upgrade, or am I limited to only Arrandale chips. TL;DR, Is it possible for a laptop that uses Optimus with an Arrandale CPU to be upgraded to a Clarksfield CPU?
  3. Alright, would I be able to find a cooling assembly for the model on Asus's website, or is that something i would have to find on say, Ebay? Also, are you sure it would be a heatpipe?
  4. Would it be a good idea to open the laptop up and check if anything is damaged?
  5. I also forgot to specify, this is my CPU that is running hot
  6. A few years back, I bought an ASUS GL503VMF with no issues at all, it ran at about 80-85 degrees Celsius idle (about 90ish when gaming), which to me, wasn't a big deal. Over the years, it has become even worse. It usually idles at around 90-93 degrees Celsius and when gaming or under load, it hits around 97-100 degrees. It's a bit uncomfortable to use because its thin and gets really hot. I have re-pasted earlier this year, but that hast fixed anything whatsoever. Ivve been starting to wonder if its an issue with the fans not working properly, but the laptop is noticeably loud when under a heavy load and the fans seem to be working fine (when re-pasting, the fans had little to no dust in them.) I'd really love to fix this because it worries me that its running so hot. Thank you.
