  1. All right, I created my recovery key and i will try that first tonight... If it doesn't work, I'll go with the clean install. The Windows Media Creation Tool is used to do a clean install, am I correct?
  2. For now, It seems impossible to boot straight from my ssd (C drive)... But I guess once I do what Mariushm has recommended, it should be available (I hope)
  3. Oh yeah, i was planning to go with an install on a usb drive. So once I'm in there (and have the HDD unpluggeg), I guess it's the "Startup repair" option? - Or "startup Settings"... Hmmm (Thanks a lot!)
  4. Hi there, I'm really a noob and after a research on other website, I don't think I understood much. I bought a prebuilt with only a HDD. When I transfered the system to another case and Mobo, I bought an SSD and installed Windows on the new Drive. Now, I just bought a pcie SSD to entirely replace the HDD. My problem is that I can't boot straight to the first SSD. I need to boot on the HDD (even though windows is installed on SSD). From my research, my problem seams to be with the Master Boot Record (MBR), which seems to be on the HDD. I'm at work RN, but I was thinking about formating all my drives, unplugging the HDD and then reinstall Windows. - Will this work? - Is there a better, easier way to deal with this? Thanks a lot!
  5. Another thing, I've seen on some calculator that PCiE SSD are taking a lot of power... I don't know if these are gen 3 or gen 4, or if both are the same on the power draw level... Could that max my 650W 80+ gold PSU ?
  6. Allright so that seems to settle the first part of my upgrades : First step : upgrade GPU to 3080 Second Step : Wait for a deal on 3900x (or 3900XT) and shop a Decent Mobo If I can, I would use the money I have now on a VR then and wait for my next bonus check around the end of the year for the CPU. So, if i,m not getting an Oculus, is there anything else decent at max 1000$ canadian?
  7. That's the first step for sure! I guess I won't know until I try it if I wanna upgrade my CPU... It might bottleneck a little bit, but if I have a good improvement I'll probably be able to wait... Do you recommend it? Are you talking about the original Vive or the Cosmos? From what I've read, there seems to be little value in other VR than the Rift S... Except being not linked with Facebook
  8. You're probably right on that... Don't have the number close by, probably more 150... But i remember it being way higher than TDP. Thing is, I'm far from a Golden chip, with a 4.5Ghz Overclock at 1.386V... The CPU was in a DELL Premade, wich was my first computer. The cooling was so bad in the case for the first year, might be why overclocking is so limited. :s
  9. And to add to that, I feel like there is a lot of frame drops, which some forum poster said elsewhere could be corrected with the easy solution of "HAVING MOAR COAR"...
  10. Ok so the reason for the upgrade would be to have better frame, since modern games and AAA seems to be hungry for more core. I get really low frames when playing the new CoD in 2k (around 60-70 fps at medium/high), and i want the best experience for the couple new titles incoming (Cyberpunk, Squadron). For the PSU, I've read that the 3080 could draw in more than 300W. My 6700k is closer to 200-250, so yeah, I guess going Intel would mean a new PSU... Although the 300W 3080 is far from confirmed!
  11. Budget (including currency): 2500 Canadian $ Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 1440p 140hz online shooters, AAA games (Cyberpunk), Maybe VR? Other details Here is my existing build : CPU : I7 6700K @ 4.5Ghz Cooler : Dark Rock Pro 4 GPU : DELL GTX 1070 MOBO : MSI z270 M3 Ram : 2x8 Gb Ripjaws V 3600Mhz (16 Cas) Sorage : Samsung Evo 860 (250G), Toshiba HD (2Tb) PSU : EVGA GQ 650W 80+ gold Case : Corsair 270R With Ampere coming out, and a some cash coming in, I'm getting ready to upgrade the heart of my build. With this budget, my first idea was to get a 3080 (or whatever card around 1200$ Canadian), and an Oculus Rift S. Many things makes me question this choice. - First I really don't like giving everything to Facebook so easily... - Second, I feel like I could use many other upgrades So my CPU could use an upgrade to 8c16t, I probably need a new PSU (850w +), m2 Drive would be nice too. Should I still wait for Ryzen 3 or Intel 11th gen? In some sense, I would like my CPU to stay relevant a little longer than my 6700k (if this is even possible) Looking forward for your replies
  12. Allright, just wanted to let you guys know that I received it yesterday and I installed it today : everything fits! Temps have gone down 10 degrees and noise went down a lot too... Thanks for the help!
  13. Didn't even know those fans existed! I think my airflow will be A one with well placed 120mmx25, I don't think I even have the space to put 38s... But good to know that it's a possibility, ty!
  14. Exact that my setup right now (not good hahah) except that I don't have (yet) a top exhaust fan... I realized that I should have look more at my build when I bought it, I only figured out 1 month ago that I had a single stick of RAM... I'm still a newb but i will try to do my hardware changes myself from now on, seeing that I paid a local PC shop for that weird configuration...
  15. I tried taking of the front pannel, and this case doesnt have a filter... I think that the front panel of this case act as the filter... The case only have a filter in the bottom, the front and top are open with grills (I'm not sure if it's the right english word for it :o). I removed the front pannel lately, and that when I realized that my configuration made no sense at all with the radiator fans being in between the case and the radiator, acting as an exhaust in the front of the case... For now it doesn't make any difference, maybe once i'll have the air cooler and set the front panel as an intake, things will be different (I hope!)
