  1. Thanks. I'll have a look at these options. And I know people are scared about connecting w7 or older to the internet. I'm not bothered if the computer gets infected I'm more bothered if my other machines on the network get infected with something that was able to be inserted though the older operating system. May just be me being paranoid but I would rather not have mine or my wife's computers infected.

  2. Hello this may be a odd question as I can't find a answer anywhere for what I'm wanting to do.

So what I'm looking at is if it is safe to connect a Windows 7 machine to my home network. So this machine is for playing older games that I can't install on Windows 10 or 11. The computer would only be used to access my server for game installers and I would not be using it to access the Internet but would it be safe to do so or is there a way you can disable the computer from accessing the Internet.

  3. Hey all. Just looking for a helping hand. I'm working on a project at home to out eatherney though the house but also have mine and my wife's pcs in a separate room. I dont have allot of money and know there are options that are quite expensive but I'm looking for peripherals to use a USB hub via ethernet. But for display I don't know what to do. My pc display is 1440 at 144hz so that's the most I need. What distances can you use DP at compared to HDMI not measured the route yet. But it may be between 10 to 20 meters. Just looking for what sort of cable would be best for this.

  4. Thanks for the replies. They really help. At the moment cat 5 would suit my needs but I want to future proof the cables in the house.  I dont have a NAS or anything yet I'm in my early stages of any of this lol. Atm I am just wanting to be able to connect my devices like xbox PlayStation computers and thing though cable rather than WiFi. I was thinking of going cat 6 and saw some cable reels on amazon but was unsure what to look for as they seem a bit cheap and as they say too good ro be true.

  5. Hey. Semi new to the forum. But I thought I would ask here for help. I'm looking at setting up mt house with ethernet to each room. I was just wondering what sort of cable I should be looking out for? Not sure what I should be looking for.
