MagnumSkyWolf got a reaction from OddOod in C5 and C6 now gone??
So they used to be plugged into my NAS until it detected the issue with them. Since then I just used them holding random files and it plugged into my PC. Since being plugged in it's always had C5 and a C6 issue. We'll see what happens at the end of the surface test

in my area its about 150ish for a decent 2.5gb 8 port switch vs 40ish for a decent 1gb 8 port switch thats quite a bit higher

Really depends on your expected use. If you are planning to upgrade your ISP plan to the full 2Gbit and would likely benefit from/saturate the connection then I'd lean towards the 2.5 option. The DS920+ from what I'm aware of doesn't natively support 2.5gbe but can be made to with a USB dongle.

In terms of the switch, do you have a home network ecosystem? (e.g. Ubiquiti, TPlink, etc.)

My personal preference is spend now and save later but the affordable option is usually the best option.

The synology NAS you listed has 2 1GB lan ports that you can aggregate (use both the lans ports for double linking rate) to 2gb so theres not real purpose for you to get 2.5. if I were you id get a gigabit switch with more ports

Generally, you only need one of the 8pin CPU power cables to actually run the system, the second is for extra power/stability when overclocking.

Some of the cables may work and some won't. I'm not 100% on the differences between them, but it's most likely just a different pin-out on some of the cables. It doesn't make sense for Corsair to make different connectors for each PSU, so while cables from different PSUs will fit, they aren't necessarily compatible.

They fit because they're the same connectors. It's the same on the GPU side electrically. It's different on the power supply. Corsair Type 3 vs Type 4. Luckily type 3 and 4 are the same except the 24 pin motherboard connector. Try using the 24 pin that came with your PSU for the motherboard.

Don't mix and match PSU cables. As you've seen they can fit, but not work.

Easiest to just try without the GPU at all.

I'm asking about the actual PSU, which model is it? You've only said Corsair 850w platinum.

Can you post a picture of the inside of the PC, showing as many of the cables connections as possible, and of the back of the PC?

Is the CableMod cable kit new? Which specific PSU do you have and is the cable kit the Yellow or Black label set?
