  1. I mean... It should be. The S8 is 7 years old. It will also feel faster because of the high refresh rate screen.
  2. Its not ideal, but you can use the second input of the Edifiers as an output for the subwoofer. I used to do this when i had them. You'll need RCA to RCA (from edifier input, which will act as output, to sub line in.)
  3. LGR did a video on one.. 6 years ago already
  4. I'm not sure if I'm correct on this but according to this picture: You might be in luck because if I'm right it's a VCC pin which there are enough of. But I don't know for sure!
  5. I had to rma my ASRock card due to high temps. 100c (and climbing) memory and 110c on the hotspot. So you might want to keep an eye on your temps. I don't think it's a bad card and I hope I just had a bad example. Replacement will be arriving soon.
  6. This is what I could find... Don't know if it's correct... https://www.codemicro.com/store/product/compaq-746509001-refurbished
  7. Both 1151 yes. But 100 and 200 series chipsets only support v1 (6000 and 7000) while you would need 300 or 400 series chipsets to be able to use v2 (8000 and 9000). Great invention from intel Crap i made a mistake... 400 is lga1200... but i think 300 is still 1151 and needed for 8000 and 9000... I found this on wikipedia: (maybe not the best source) The LGA 1151 socket was revised for the Coffee Lake generation CPUs and comes along with the Intel 300-series chipsets.[8] While physical dimensions remain unchanged, the updated socket re-assigns some reserved pins, adding power and ground lines to support the requirements of 6-core CPUs. The new socket also relocates the processor detection pin, breaking compatibility with earlier processors and motherboards. As a result, desktop Coffee Lake CPUs are not compatible with the 100 (original Skylake) and 200 (Kaby Lake) series chipsets.[9] Similarly, 300 series chipsets only support Coffee Lake and are not compatible with Skylake and Kaby Lake CPUs.
  8. I don't think it's possible to fix because it is the power part of the connector. I think there is (way) more damage to the card than what you see. Probably defective chips aswell.
  9. I use it on my Asus laptop cause their software thing sucks. And it works for the integrated keyboard and for the Asus mouse aswell.. Havent used it on any other devices though. Only thing i miss is that it doesnt auto apply on startup.
  10. In my experience its the cpu that has trouble with ram. I have an MSI b350m mortar that would not play nice with a 1600 and 2400g (both first gen) but it has been running a 2600 without any issues on 3000mhz dual channel ram. What motherboard does your friend have exactly? It might be more expensive, but maybe it's better to get a 2000 or 3000 series cpu. 1000 series has tons of ram issues.
  11. As asked before, what are the specs? Older pc's need (alot) more power on the 5v rail so in order for us to give a good recommendation we need to know what platform you'll be powering.
  12. If you want to go 4k60 then the 3600 should be great. When pushing that many pixels the gpu will have the most work do so i dont think your cpu will be any problem. If you want higher fps (say 120) then you might consider upgrading to something else, though driving 4k120 is not really possible with any gpu.
  13. And theres a problem... Not everyone is, like me... I have an Asus laptop which was completely unusable with the Windows installation it came with... Had to reinstall it and make sure Windows update wouldnt install any Asus software or else it would bluescreen...
  14. Well... Seeing that picture of the underside of the cpu cooler... It doesn't look like a great psu... But i dont think that would cause a cpu tot reach that temp though....
  15. Something is not right. An Asus prime a520m is am4. Yet you have an ancient am3+ cpu. And what @rollinlower said is correct aswell.. 250 watt is not alot and deffinately not with that hungry cpu.
