Thermal paste on resistors on gpu dye
ComicalBlast replied to ComicalBlast's topic in Graphics Cards
I noticed that the gpu fan is not pushing air out properly. I think I should replace it and see whether it works or not- 21 replies

No its not normal. The clock speeds have an abnormal trend like hitting the boost clock at one instant and hitting the idle clock speed the next instant- 21 replies

Thermal paste on resistors on gpu dye

Its a 1070 but whenever I launch a game it doesnt boost. It stays at 139MHz or even it does boost, the clock speeds are really unstable like it hits 1500MHz but drops to 300MHz the next sec even under temps not high enough to cause thermal throttling.- 21 replies

So basically, a few weeks ago I changed my thermal paste on my rog strix scar 2 but after that my gpu started to behave abnormally like it stayed on 139MHz when it should at 1443MHz on idle. I opened it up again and saw that the film covering the transistors the gpu dye was not in the proper place. The thermal paste was in between the transistors on the dye. I used isopropyl alcohol with a tissue to remove it as much as I could but it didnt work. I have a question that am I correct that the thermal paste is the reason my gpu is not working properly and how can I remove the thermal paste like should I use a toothbrush or something?

GPU not responding to any games

Yeah tried it using nvidia control panel. It doesnt work -
I have an ASUS rog strix scar 2 laptop i7-8750H and a GTX 1070. I changed the thermal paste of my laptop recently but now as soon as I launch any game gpu doesnt respond to it and stays idle. I opened it up again and I couldnt see any missing screw. I have reinstalled the drivers, its not working. Any suggestions
