    Thanks for the reply. My mobo is a MSI z170a M3. The 9600 and 6600 both have a LGA1151 socket. Why do you say i'd need a new board?

    Currently I have a gtx 1070 a 6600K CPU, and thinking of upgrading my GPU only. On CoD MW Warzone, I want to get 144fps on my 144hz monitor, on 1080p. Currently my game seems to crash pretty often if I don't cap my FPS at 60 and i think it's due to my 1070. Would the 6600k bottleneck the 2080s? Not sure if it's worth getting upgrading the 6600k to a 9600 or something, since i'm already dropping a lot on the 2080s.
