  1. I know this is an old thread, but I found it while doing some research. I own both an AZ (SMR) and RZ (CMR) WD Blue 4TB. In my testing the AZ is a good deal faster, which I think is because its buffer is 4x larger. The AZ has a 256MB buffer and the RZ only has 64MB. Also, the AZ is much newer being released in 2021 and the RZ in 2015. You can see the results here - the top is the AZ and the bottom is the RZ.
  2. AMD cards are cheaper for a reason. Because they offer a lesser experience, especially once you get into the surrounding tech.
  3. You have an 8 year old quad core CPU "trying" to power a GPU that nears 3090 performance. You need a new mobo and CPU. Minimum current gen 6 core.
  4. Together they total 275 watt TDP. So as long as your CPU is 125-140 watts max or lower you will be fine.
  5. That's the one I'm using which comes with Afterburner.
  6. Yes, the 12400F system is capable of a higher max framerate. I'm wondering why the same FPS like say when locked to the refresh rate of your display. It's not a massive difference, but frame timings at the same FPS are more stable with higher single core performance in my experience.
  7. Everyone says 60FPS is 60FPS, but if that's so then why does it often feel smoother on a better CPU? I've used the same RTX 3060 on a 10400F system as well as a 12400F system, and both have 32GB DDR4 @ 3200. Some have said I'm delusional, but the same games feel smoother at the same FPS on the 12400F system. I've only been gaming on PC since 2019, so I just don't understand why it feels better at the same FPS, and how to explain this to others.
  8. The Blue 2.5" are actually higher quality than their NVMe counterparts. The 2.5" have DRAM and the NVMe don't. The Blue 2.5" are actually in the B tier with the Evo.
  9. My WD Blue, Crucial MX500 and Samsung Evo all give proper temps.
  10. The MX500's are actually very good quality SSD's. Well above the quality of the ones I'm talking about.
  11. Because games don't really benefit from NVMe speeds vs SATA SSD's, and this solution is cheaper overall. Plus I also like keeping the OS separate from everything else.
  12. So I have built a couple budget rigs for friends, and used a small 250GB NVMe for the system drive and then a cheap 1TB 2.5" SSD as a game drive. Both have locked temp readings. One is a Silicon Power A58 which always reads as 40c and the other is a Patriot P210 which always reads 35c. They work perfectly otherwise, so I never felt the need to return them, but it's very odd. I also have a cheap Kingston A400 in my spare gaming rig, and it gives proper temps. Thoughts? Anyone else?
  13. The Cooler Master white units are also B tier. Based on this much more updated list: https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/
  14. How on earth does a thread about a crappy peripheral set turn into one about backpacks and screwdrivers?
  15. we certainly are reaching a point where 8GB won't be enough sometimes. even AC Odyssey (an almost 5 year old game) can hit 7GB at 1200p ultra on my 3060.
  16. No, I like it at 4GHz. I was just pointing that out because you claimed yours never went above 3.9GHz.
  17. My 12400F is always at 4GHz minimum. No matter what I do.
