  1. Okay well thank you for the advice, I'll definitely take that into consideration in my search from here on out.
  2. I guess it just makes sense to me to be able to take advantage of the portability of a laptop because I want to be able to take my computer with me anywhere and also be able to retain its power. Especially since I'm likely not going to go to a college near where I live so if I want to bring my computer back over a long break especially for the summer, having that functionality is worth it for me. Also, at my high school we use our laptops pretty much every class, so if I'm going to constantly be using it, I want to have something that I feel comfortable using.
  3. I have considered getting a desktop but I specifically want a laptop for the portability for school.
  4. My 2015 Macbook Air is dying, slowly but surely. It still works but I'm looking to upgrade to something more practical. I'm a rising high school senior and I want a laptop that will last me hopefully at least through college. I'm looking for something that can handle gaming at a decent level (at least around 1080p 60 fps) as well as drawing/editing CAD (we've had a 3D printer for years and I want to finally be able to put it to use - it's also very likely that I'm going into some sort of engineering major for college, so I'll probably be handling CAD quite a bit next year and especially in college); in order to handle those two factors I've been primarily looking for two things: good enough graphics (for gaming) and 16 GB of RAM (to handle CAD well - though based off of what I've found 12 GB might suffice, but I've found 16 GB to be much more common anyway). Also I'd like to note that screen size isn't a big deal for mean; obviously a bigger screen is better, but for me really anything 13"+ is enough. I have been aiming at a price point of around $1,000 USD and have found what I believe to be a few good prospects and listed them below in order of what I think is the best deal for what I want: I just wanted to get some input from the community. Are these good deals for the money? Is there something else within a comparable price range that you would recommend over these options? Is the HP Pavilion Gaming 15z my best option of these for the price? Any feedback is much appreciated! *Also what do they mean when they list a certain clock speed as well as say "up to" a certain higher clock speed? 1.) $1030 - HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop - 15z Specs: Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 3750H 2.3 GHz up to 4 GHz*, 4 cores, 6 MB cache Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 (4 GB) Memory: 16 GB DDR4 2400 MHz SDRAM (2x8 GB) Storage: 512 GB SSD 2.) $1015 - Lenovo IdeaPad L340 15" Gaming Specs: Processor: Intel Core i5-9300H 2.40GHz up to 4.10 GHz with Turbo Boost*, 4 cores, 8 MB Cache Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 (4GB) Memory: 16 GB DDR4 2400 MHz Storage: 256 GB SSD, 1 TB HDD 3.) $920 - HP Pavilion Laptop - 15t Specs: Processor: Intel Core i7-1065G7 1.3 GHz up to 3.9 GHz*, 4 cores, 8 MB cache Graphics: Intel Iris Plus Graphics Memory: 16 GB DDR4 2666 MHz SDRAM (2x8 GB) Storage: 512 GB Intel SSD, 32 GB Intel Optane memory Also would it be worth the extra $300 to upgrade to the Razer Blade Stealth 13? $1300 - Razer Blade Stealth 13 Specs: Processor: Intel Core i7-1065G7 Graphics: Intel Iris Plus Graphics Memory: 16 GB (2x8 GB) Storage: 256 GB SSD
