TastyMidget reacted to AMICLG in Are these IE80s real?
From the pics it looks like the sennheiser logo is laser etched and the cables aren't overly thick like the fakes which leads me to believe that these are real.

TastyMidget reacted to Ferrera in Not sure what headset to buy, please help.
Uhh, a Teemo...
I live in Portugal, and "we" are very strict when it comes to customs legislations coming from outside the EU. Thanks for the input though, I might go for headphone and desk mic and stretch my budget to 130$ in total.
I'll search on amazonUK and see what I can find, also, if anyone knows a good desk mic, do tell.
Thanks

TastyMidget reacted to ShearMe in Choosing right earphones
For rock and it's derivatives, I personally enjoy more treble-friendly or at least somewhat neutral headphones. My $60 recommendation would be the Pioneer SE-A1000, or for IEMs the JBL J33 if you can find it at the right price.
1) Bigger drivers makes it easier to produce bass, but bigger drivers does not directly correlate to more bass than a smaller driver headphone. It's all about how the manufacturer/designer tunes the driver, and there are MANY variables.
2) I'm pretty sure all headphones/earbuds/speakers will have a neodymium magnet, but if not, it doesn't really matter.
3) Depends on the headphone. Some EQ nicely, some do not.

TastyMidget reacted to Hikaru12 in Best in ear headphones for $100 to $250
That's exactly what I'm looking for because I'm always searching for new beats/beatmakers on YouTube! I'll buy these over the holiday and update this thread with my findings.

TastyMidget reacted to KaareKanin in How does "burning in the drivers" work?
The idea is that when speakers are factory fresh, they'll be in a slightly different state than intended. Think of a new shoe, it might be stiffer than it's supposed to be when completely new, but use it for a little while, and you'll have softened it up a little and it'll be much better to use.
So a burn in is supposed to exercise the headphone into its intended design parameters. A burn in is nothing special seen from the eyes of the headphone. A burn in will occur either way over time as you use them, but some prefer to just leave the headphones alone while they burn in. There's no reason why you couldn't just use them as you normally would. The burn in would still happen ;-)
Edit: regarding OP, blasting for a few hours won't burn in. Too high volume could apparently damage the headphones, and a few hours isn't enough time to do a burn in, but all of that is described in your link ;-)

TastyMidget reacted to mr moose in Tek Syndicate Audio Myths with @MayflowerElectronics
This type of thing has been hotly debated since the 70's, if it wasn't tube versus transistor it was vinyl v tape, then tape v cd then eq v processor then dac v tape the dac v vinyl and so on until we are debating which implementation of the DAC/AMP is better.
The funny thing about all this is that there is no reason why sound cards have to be shit, they only need to improve the headphone amp and de-clutter the software/driver package and bam, we have a product with a purpose. But companies like Asus and Creative have gone down a different path, one of capitalizing on market trends.
In all reality we will still be debating it in a year or two years time because there are some people that always fall victim to marketing and that's where reviews and advice comes from.
