    This is what i did

I took out the side fans, cut out the HDD cage, used Velcro on the bottom of a 140mm fan and foam to make another intake, and moved the HDD into a 5.25 bay. I dont have a modular psu so i stuffed the extra cables under the 120mm rad.

actually, adding a proper reservoir virtually eliminates the pump/air issues that
has been plaguing the Swiftech H-series. @Tony N has gone through a couple
of RMA on the H220 and finally on his dime, installed a remote reservoir and
seemed to have fixed the issue. but with the case choice, i find it will be a very
testing challenge to get the build successful. a lot of large scale components in
    an expensive small case factor.

If you asked before expanding the H220 I would have recommended not doing it. Now that you have your only choice is to add a radiator.

In terms of other things you can add, you may want to add a reservoir to your loop. There is a flaw in the H220 that causes the pump to become loud because air remains in the loop. Adding a reservoir can fix it. Even if you don't have it now you may get it in the future and a reservoir isn't the most expensive thing in the world. Plus it can look good in a loop too. In this case the reservoir doesn't have to be above the pump as the radiator reservoir will still be feeding the pump directly. The second reservoir will only be used for bleeding. (You will have to fill your loop through the radiator reservoir though.)

I had the same problem with the two units i have have gotten. The first one i RMAed and then the second one i ended up adding a res to it which solved my problem. These pumps are almost impossible to prime with the stock configuration IMO, and with a res it was an instant difference in noise. Keep in mind, this is a whole new thing to the PC world so expect there to be kinks with the 1st gen.

I say personal preference, chose what you like more and sell the other. A few degrees isn't going to kill you either way unless your trying to achieve some ridiculous overclock.

Ya i had the same problem and i added a res to my loop and it really helped. That's what i would recommend if you can't RMA or refund it. Priming the pump for the H220 is horrible but once you get all the air bubbles out its really quiet. Even with a res i was having a problem with bubbles but after a while it got quieter and quieter. I think the main problem is that the whole built in res thing kind of sucks and doesn't do its job at all, that along with impossible priming makes for a loud H220.

That is my plan for my 7950 if the drivers turn out alright and if they do another NS so I don't have to get 2 of the same ones. I wonder how close the performance would be to a 7990 considering 7970-7950 are so similar in performance. It would be cool to have that kind of power for 500$ :)

If you want price to performance look at air coolers like the NH-D14, they are at a really good price point for the kind of performance they deliver.

    Hi all,

Having a bit of a thought here and can't make my mind up.

I currently have a 1GB HD6850 from XFX (The thing is stupidly loud, however, I did OC it.) so any of these graphics cards will be a notable improvement.

I have been looking at the GTX770, but the price is putting me off, about £330. I have been looking at the 7970 GHz edition for about the same price.

However, I have been looking at the 7950 as that's about £230, so it's a lot cheaper. I am thinking of OC'ing it so maybe I can get near a 7970 performance?

The only problem is I'm building a computer with a Red/Black colour scheme, and the only card that matches it is the XFX 7950, and I'm worried about the noise from the card, as I want to get a quieter system than what I currently have.

So basically, do you think I should save for the 7970GHz/770? - Will still OC them, but GPU Boost 2.0 is tempting me, Or get the 7950 and OC it? Which if I can get close to 7970 performance, then it would save me a lot of money. As stated above, I think any of these cards will be better than my current HD6850.

    Thanks,

    Kieran.

The usually recommendation is to not get a kit because there is really no benefit. Your better off taking the time finding the parts and choosing what is perfect for you. If you haven't already, take a minute to read the water cooling stickies at the top of the section, it answers almost any little questions you may have.

To me you have a few options.

    1) Upgrade now to something like a 7950 and be able to play all those games no problem + get a few extra free games.
    2) Get the games you want now and see how the 650 handles it, then decide if you want to upgrade.
    3) Wait out until towards the end of the year and see what comes out.

If I were in this situation i would wait and see what the future holds, your 650 ti is going to be able to play all those games, just might not be on the highest settings.

Yes because higher resolution textures that need to be stored in VRAM is obviously sloppy coding. I wish that nvidia that you would so much, would make a 1gb titan and test it at 1440p. According to all the posts I've read from you, it should perform on par with the 6gb one, if not better!
