  1. Unfortunately, Cox only offers static IP address to businesses. I have a residential address. It's worth mentioning that my Nintendo Switch was working with online play when I first moved in. However, something has changed and now it's not working. That's why I'm thinking it could be something with my setup.
  2. Hello, all! I'm a networking newbie in need of some assistance. Please let me know if this one belongs more on the gaming subcategory. I figured it's more of an internet issue than a game issue. Here's what's happening: My Nintendo Switch cannot connect with other players online. I believe this is due to my NAT type being in the 'D' category. Here's my setup: I'm running an HP T620 Plus with OPNSense as my router (my ISP-provided by Cox is in bridge mode). I'm running that to a Ubiquiti Switch which is connected to a U6-Pro AP and a small Intel computer running Ubuntu that houses the Unifi controller software. Attached is a picture laying out my whole network setup. Other problems I've been having that might(?) be contributing: I haven't been able to properly get my OPNSense router and my Unifi setup to communicate with one another properly. Sure, my internet works fine and is pretty fast, but I can't seem to do more advanced(?) things like VLANs and such. I'm a total newbie at this stuff, so I think I'm way out of my depth here. Would anyone be able to help me diagnose my issue or contribute some ideas for solutions? Has anyone seen NAT D problems on Unifi setups before? Thanks a ton!
  3. Hello, My PGP key for one of my accounts stopped working while I was trying to draft a message. At first, the message said that my PGP key couldn't be located and thus my draft could not be saved (I believe I have all my drafts mandated to save as encrypted). I decided to delete the key from Thunderbird and try re-importing it. At first, it said the key had been imported successfully. However, when trying to select the key from my account page, nothing comes up. It's just blank. I quit Thunderbird several times and re-opened, only to get the same result. Now, after my most recent app restart, Thunderbird simply won't import my PGP key at all. Other accounts still have their PGP keys active, but not this one. I'm at a loss. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Is this a new bug? I'm running the latest version of Thunderbird (91.8.1 (64-bit)) on macOS. I've attached images. Please help! Thanks!!
  4. What the shit?!? I've never had internet speeds this fast in my life.
  5. Nothing comes up in the crash reports except for when Company of Heroes 2 crashed late last month (yep, I can't afford a PC right now, so I play games on my Mac ). Nothing that would necessarily indicate a startup problem. However!... When I checked the general "Log Reports," they seemed to correspond with my startups. I'm pasting just one of the reports here if it makes any sense: SessionID=876fdd92-01e5-49a3-8605-53f4aa46ae30.1638890566009 Timestamp=2021-12-07T10:22:46:167-0500 ThreadID=7156 Component=ngl-lib_NglAppLib ErrorID=403 Description="GetCachedNglProfile Status: NGL Profile Unavailable" SessionID=876fdd92-01e5-49a3-8605-53f4aa46ae30.1638890566009 Timestamp=2021-12-07T10:22:46:222-0500 ThreadID=7156 Component=ngl-lib_NUSecureProfileDao Description="GetPrefetchedSecureProfile : Prefetched ASNP not found" SessionID=876fdd92-01e5-49a3-8605-53f4aa46ae30.1638890566009 Timestamp=2021-12-07T10:22:46:222-0500 ThreadID=7156 Component=ngl-lib_NUSecureProfileFetcher ErrorID=SPDaoLevelStatus:11 Description="ValidateAndGetPrefetchedSP : Failed to fetch prefetched ASNP" SessionID=876fdd92-01e5-49a3-8605-53f4aa46ae30.1638890566009 Timestamp=2021-12-07T10:22:46:222-0500 ThreadID=7156 Component=ngl-lib_NglAppLib ErrorID=228 Description="GetPrefetchedNglProfile Status: Data Not Found : Cached NGL Profile" SessionID=876fdd92-01e5-49a3-8605-53f4aa46ae30.1638890566009 Timestamp=2021-12-07T10:22:46:425-0500 ThreadID=7159 Component=ngl-lib_HttpRequestDelegate Description="Received Response with status 200" SessionID=876fdd92-01e5-49a3-8605-53f4aa46ae30.1638890566009 Timestamp=2021-12-07T10:22:46:805-0500 ThreadID=7161 Component=ngl-lib_HttpRequestDelegate Description="Received Response with status 204" SessionID=876fdd92-01e5-49a3-8605-53f4aa46ae30.1638890566009 Timestamp=2021-12-07T10:22:46:805-0500 ThreadID=7161 Component=ngl-lib_HttpRequestDelegate Description="Got empty response" SessionID=876fdd92-01e5-49a3-8605-53f4aa46ae30.1638890566009 Timestamp=2021-12-07T10:22:46:837-0500 ThreadID=7166 Component=ngl-lib_NUSecureProfileFetcher ErrorID=COPRetrieverStatus:13 Description="GetDeviceTokenAndProfile : We have a valid access token but could not reach COPS, fill in userprofile from IMS" SessionID=876fdd92-01e5-49a3-8605-53f4aa46ae30.1638890566009 Timestamp=2021-12-07T10:22:46:837-0500 ThreadID=7166 Component=ngl-lib_NglAppLib ErrorID=110 Description="GetLatestNglProfile Status: Unhandled Error"
  6. Good suggestion! Unfortunately, I tried that and received that same prompt.
  7. Yup! Everything seems normal to me. Yeah, I figure there must be some kind of problem I can't see, but everything looks normal except that message. Maybe I'm just not being vigilant enough
  8. Hey, all, I recently upgraded my Macbook Pro that I bought in 2019 to macos 12.0.1 "Monterey." Ever since upgrading, every time I power on my laptop, I get the error message "Your computer was shut down because of a problem" or something of the like (forgetting the exact phrasing). This has happened to my every time I've powered on my device, but at no point did my laptop actually shut down due to a noticeable problem. I shut the computer off regularly via the shutdown button in the toolbar. Has anyone else been having this issue? Anyone find a good fix? Here's more specific info about my Macbook: MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports) 2.9 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5 16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3 Intel Iris Graphics 550 1536 MB Thanks!
  9. Hi all, Apologies for a question that might seem dumb, but I'm not well-versed with system security and would like to start encrypting my files. Main question: Will VeraCrypt's full-disk encryption option delete my existing files on my external HDD partition? I have a lot of personal files I want to secure, and full-disk encryption seems like a good idea. However, VeraCrypt doesn't make it very clear if encrypting my disk partition will delete the files already there. Will it do this? Thanks! --- UPDATE: It does.
  10. Hi all, I brought a relative's old laptop back to life with a copy of Xubuntu, and I recently installed ClamAV (although I'm not quite sure I did everything right). Whenever I initiate a scan in the terminal, a lot of areas seem to have an "Access Denied" error. 11. Hey all, What are some PGP keyservers you think are essential? I have an email address that I share publicly, and want to submit my public key to as many places as possible. Thanks!
  12. Hi all, I'm using Thunderbird 68.10.0 (64-bit) on macOS Catalina 10.15.5 I have multiple inboxes used on my client, mostly Google accounts but my primary one is non-Google and syncs via CalDav. Unfortunately, my tasks won't sync. In fact, adding a new task is a completely grayed-out option. Anyone else run into this issue? Attached is a screenshot of what I see, as well as the add-ons I'm running (minus Enigmail... I use that, too, but only had so much room in the screenshot ¯\_(ツ)_/¯). Happy to supply more details if needed. Thanks! ----- UPDATE: Welp, I figured this out myself. My service has a different CalDav address between calendars and tasks. Whoops!
  13. Hi all, I primarily use Thunderbird as my desktop email client. I have configured Enigmail to handle my encrypted emails, but it has a default feature that isn't available to other users of PGP: it encrypts the subject line. While I would normally be elated by this, no other program is able to do that. Thus, my subject lines sent from Thunderbird always read "..." in any other email client. Does anyone know how to disable subject line encryption on Enigmail? Once other programs start doing this, I'll turn it back on immediately. But for now, I gotta turn this off. Thanks!
  14. Thank you both! I think that puts my question to rest. I appreciate the help!
