  1. So, it works! I tried restarting and didn't fix it. However, following exactly what was in the link you provided (but treating the 'capture card' as the TV instead) and it worked flawlessly. I think it was the difference in aspect ratio between the two sets of instructions. Thank you!
  2. Thats not the same article, but the instructions are similar, though slightly different. I.... do not think I restarted. I will try that and get back to you this evening! Cheers, - Rover
  3. Hello everyone, I have an RTX2070 super, on a windows 10 machine. I am able to run my ASUS VG248 (The 2013-2015) version at 144hz by itself. I also have a 40" TV on the wall for my partner to watch me play games on. Whenever I use Windows to duplicate the screens on each other, it locks my gaming screen (the VG248) to 60hz. Through the wonders of google, I was able to determine a potential fix by using the nvidea control panel, and setting it up to clone to the TV while manually setting the frequency. However, after doing this, I still seem to only be getting 60hz. The website testufo.com shows only 60hz, and windows display adaptor shows 60hz, while the nvidea control panel shows 144hz for my monitor, and 60hz for the TV. I don't know if that is normal, or if I'm doing something wrong. Based on just a VISUAL look, I don't /see/ a difference between running it at 60, and running it at '144'. Which, you know, may be kinda telling about how important it is, but when I have a toy that should be doing the thing, I want to get it to do the thing! Has anyone else experienced this or has a firm way to test and see if I'm getting 144 or 60? Thanks!
  4. I would also like to confirm that this worked for me. Thank you so much!
  5. Read through my adventure here... Very similar story. CPU worked fine for the first few days. Then it started rebooting. In shorter and shorter increments. Swapping CPU's fixed it, and I've been smooth sailing this. I don't know if thats what your problem is, but I see parallels and we both had a Ryzen 3600.
  6. I have been having somewhat similar issues, I found this trying to search for a solution. However my PC doesn't black screen and shut down, firefox just locks up and refuses to do anything, and cant be ctrl+alt+deleted. I don't want to derail this thread or anything, but figured I'd chime in. I'm following in the hopes when I get home and try some of these things that the OP has been recommended it works for me. I have an ASUS X570-TUF GAMING w/wifi. Most recent BIOS.
  7. When you say that it turns on then goes off, what do you mean? Does it POST? Does the motherboard have an error code, or indicator lights showing you at what stage it is 'failing' to get to POST?
  8. DEAD CPU. My tenant, bless his heart, just so happens to have the same processor as I. We swapped processors and my computer worked fine, where his wouldn't even POST, let alone boot to windows. Changed them back, his worked fine, mine was back to the same problem. RMA'ing the CPU. Will mark this as closed once I've gotten a new one in hand and confirmed the PC survived. I would still appreciate anyone advising if I should be concerned another component of the system killed my CPU after two days of use, or what. Thanks for reading.
  9. I took it to a repairshop this morning as I'd given up on it. Gentleman was very helpful, but given where we live and the rarity of gaming boutiques, he couldn't replace the MOBO/CPU to test those. He tried the setup with a new DDR4 that he knows was working. He tried the setup with a new GPU that he knows was working. He tried the setup with his own SSD. He tried the setup with his own PSU (Something I hadn't done.) This narrows it down to the MOBO and the CPU. I bought a new MOBO at a local store, which I was frankly amazed was even available in my city given where I live. It is a B450M-A Prime. I get home, treat it like the worlds finest spun glass, and hook up my equipment. Same. Exact. Problem. On boot, it shows and goes to bios no issues. When you try to boot to windows, it just restarts the computer and repeats this cycle. I attempted to reinstall windows, same thing. What are the odds my CPU is broken? Can anyone following along this story offer suggestions? My RMA periods are drawing close, what should I even try to get exchanged? If my CPU is dead, why did it burn out after two days? What are the odds another piece of equipment killed it?
  10. I can't access the command prompt. Unfortunately, the only user is 'defaultuser0' which I don't know the password too. I hadn't thought to swap mouse and keyboard. I've got a fairly generic budget version and a ps/2 keyboard I'll try. I was using logitech mouse + steelseries keyboard.
  11. This is the same issue I'm currently having in the thread found here: I was attributing it to hardware... Maybe its a windows issue.
  12. Yeah. When I tried booting to safe mode it was the same result. I'd use the advanced recovery options to get the ability to load into safe mode. I restart the PC, and press F4 on the MOBO load screen for safe mode, and it just started to load then restarted into the boot loop like before.
  13. I did attempt to boot from onboard graphics. Could not, as its not supported. No bent pins on the CPU, no damage I could see on the MOBO. I've tried booting on one ram stick, then the other. Memtest86 determined no issues with either. I've tried a normal SSD, didn't work. Same issue, fresh install of windows.
  14. Like, clearing the CMOS battery and jumpers? Yes, I did 'clear' the BIOS back to defaults. Temps from everything I can see have been fine. When I'm in BIOS, the temps are 35C or less. I just removed the CPU and reseated it. Error persists.
  15. I am having troubles finding a USB that'll let me launch linux. However, I have now removed the 2070super and replaced it with a 970TI from another computer. It works fine in BIOS, and when I tried to boot to windows it actually let me reach the point I could begin to make my account, before it crashed again.
