  1. I'm having this very annoying problem where at a random point while gaming (both VR and flat-screen), my PC does what I've described in the title. I don't think it's a thermal issue as the fans spinning up would suggest, as my CPU (R5 3600) maxes at around 60-65 and my GPU (Asus 2070 Super Evo) goes no higher than about 72 (usually lower, however). What's more odd is its inconsistency - sometimes I can game for an hour with no problems, while at other times it crashes after five minutes. I've done a lot of Googling and can't seem to find a fix. Here's what I've tried to solve it to no avail: Changed USB port my Rift S was plugged into (initially thought it was just a VR problem) Replaced the thermal paste on my CPU Re-seated my graphics card Plugged my PC directly into the wall rather than an extension Checked Windows and my drivers were updated (which they were) If anyone has any ideas for further troubleshooting steps or solutions it would be much appreciated (I want to play HL: Alyx and Control so badly!)
  2. Alright, gonna try this now. Fingers crossed.
  3. At this point I'm willing to try anything lol. Will I need to buy a key since my Windows 10 came from a Windows 7 key that got updated?
  4. Ok, thanks for the recommendation. It's the only thing I've not tried (other than getting a new cooler) so will give it a shot and let you know how it goes. Will choosing the 'Reset My PC' option and keeping files count as a fresh install?
  5. Ryzen Master is reporting the same temps after an undervolt in the BIOS. Sorry for my ignorance, but how could a fresh install help?
  6. I'll give this undervolting a try, thanks for the suggestions
  7. No, I was just upgrading so it's not a fresh install. I'm using MSI Afterburner to just check, but OCCT for stress tests
  8. I reinstalled the cooler today, so I'm confident that's all ok. My BIOS is up to date
  9. I've been running a Ryzen 5 3600 with the stock cooler for about a month and noticed stutters in some CPU-intensive parts of games, most notably Borderlands 3 (though I know that game has issues). I checked my temps for the first time the other day and saw that, while idle, I was getting between 65-70C. I ran stress tests and it seems to be thermal throttling under load (temp reaches 90 and clock decreases). I tried re-installing my cooler with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut paste (I was using the stock paste before) but it hasn't made a difference. I even tried disabling PBO in the BIOS but no change. My BIOS, Chipset Driver and Windows are all up to date. From what I can tell these temps aren't normal, even for the stock cooler, and it's hurting my PC's performance. I'm waiting for the Arctic Freezer ii 280 to come back into stock, but until then has anyone got ideas to lower my temps?
