  1. Hi, I just bought the BenQ EX2780Q monitor which supports HDR and connected to gtx 970 via a miniDP to DP cable, but when i go into Windows in Display Settings, HD colour Settings it says it does not support it. Also checked in dxdiag. Also lowered in Windows the refresh rate from 144hz to 120hz, but still nothing. Any ideeas?
  2. Awesome ideas! I am looking into them as we speak, but i have two concerns: 1. Is the Synergy app trusted? Installing it could give them access to personal information 2. The Macbook is from work so i can not install third party apps to do this because it is against policies 3. Also i understand i need internet to reach the Synergy servers otherwise the software would not work Thank you all for helping me on this, i appreciate it! EDIT: Ok so the Hub would be a bad ideea because of the possible conflicts so the best solution would be the KVM. Thank you all, i really appreciated all your help on this!
  3. Thanks for the speedy answer! Can you please give me more details on both topics? PS, the monitor is BenQ EX2780q and i can switch the input easily and have more signals at the same time through USB C and DP in this case.
  4. Hi, So i have a monitor with USB C, a Macbook Pro a PC and a keyboard and a mouse that i want to always be connected. The scenario is that the monitor is plugged into the PC with DP and in a USB C hub through the USB C cable. In the Hub there is also the laptop plugged in and the two peripherals. Also the Hub will connect to the PC through USB C directly to the motherboard. Will that allow me to use the kb and mouse on both macbook and pc? Is there a more simpler way to achieve this? The monitor can switch display output to what cable input i want so that is sorted out. Goal is to have all of them connected all the time so i do not have to unpluc and plug different peripherals when i want to use the laptop or the pc. When i use the laptop the PC would sleep, when the laptop is asleep to use the PC. Thanks
  5. It depends on what you are expecting from these GPUs. None of them would be able to play 4k 60hz+ and it's a bad example, but you get it. Check benchmarks for them and see which one ticks your expectations. On a side note in September the new generation cards will arrive so you could/should wait for that.
  6. Hi, I tested 4k and i came to conclusion that 1440p with a bit of scaling on text is the sweet spot since i stay pretty close to it anyway. Sadly, that BenQ monitor only comes with Usb C and HDMI cables, no DP. Thank you for answering. Also found this one: https://www.delock.com/produkt/85910/technische_details.html
  7. Hi everyone, Please help me in this situation. I currently have a GTX 970 gpu with 2 ( or 3 ) minidisplays ports, 1 mini hdmi, 1 DVI and 1 VGA ports. I am planning to upgrade to an Ampere or Big Navi solution when they are released this year, but until then i need to upgrade my monitors because i have bad vision. Going from two 1080p 24inch to two 27inch 1440p 144hz ( BenQ EX2780Q ). Now the situation is this: - Should i buy mini-dp to dp cables or should i buy a DP cable and a mini-dp to DP adapter? Reasoning is that the DP cable will still be used when i upgrade the GPU, but i don't know which one is more efficient ( adapter vs cable ) - I understand that several GTX 970 cards have issues with the mini-dp and dp ports, but since i can not test mine yet, should i also get a dvi or hdmi adapter? - I've found several adaptors and cables that say 8k 60hz or 4k 60hz, but will these provide me 144hz over 1440p? Not sure how they translate to lower resolutions - Should i get a cable that is less than 2m or it doesn't matter? ( was thinking between 2-3 meters ) - Does the version of the DP cable/adapte matter? I understand it's backward compatible, but i would like a confirmation This is one of the DP cables i was thinking of: https://conectica.ro/fisiere/articole/pdf/Specificatii tehnice/Lindy/product_36482.pdf Any information on this is gladly appreciated!
