  1. Hi, my understanding is all Ryzen 3rd gen love fast ram up to 3733mhz after that point the infinity fabric (cpu internal + interconnect bus) can no longer keep and and to clock ratio changes and can give a performance problem. So if your board will take 3466mhz then maybe stretch to 3200mhz ram. I'm still learning on this and watching reading loads because audio presents a second issue as the cas numbers also matter, ideally you need cl16 or lower. My understanding is the issue comes if latency gets to high crackles and artifacts appear, particularly at lower buffer levels (below 256). Also worth noting that there are fairly strong rumours that AMD are about to drop XT versions of 3600, 3800, 3900 CPUs with higher clock and turbo speeds. So if you can hang on you might be able to pick up the 3600X cheaper and spend the difference on quicker ram.
  2. I've been looking at building a rig for Ableton/ DAW workload and have found that audio latency can be an issue with Ryzen if components are not matched well. It might be worth looking at 3600 ram with low cas values to ensure you don't get any issues, costs more but better than having to find out later and buy again.
  3. Budget (including currency): GBP 1500-1700 (not including peripherals or monitor) Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Ableton live, Cubase, FL studio, gaming (1440p), light office work. Win10 Other details: Hi all, I'm looking to build a new rig so I can get into home music production (EDM). I currently have an ancient laptop so starting from a completely clean slate. I would also like the rig to be a fairly ok gaming setup to enable good to best graphics settings at 1440p on most top titles. The best value CPUs look to be AMD at the moment and I've been looking at 3700-3900, however there seems to be some reports of issues with Ryzen and latency for music production so many have stayed with Intel. I've seen reports that this can be negated by getting low cas (14,15,15,35 samsung B-die) 3600 ram and OCing to match infinity fabric at 3773mhz. Can anybody advise if they've had experience with this. Also looking for a mainboard that works well with DAW workload and has lots of external I/O to except external DACs controllers etc. As a non essential, also thinking white case and white and black build, however hardware suitability comes first. All help and suggestions gratefully recieved.
