  1. Thanks -- by analog you mean VGA, right (out of the options that I listed)? Are the adapters because your graphics card doesn't have DVI-D?
  2. Ok, thanks! The wake issues I read about were the PC not detecting the second monitor at first and pushing all the windows to the first monitor every time it resumed from sleep. But don't have an article or anything about it
  3. I've heard of pc wake issues with having two monitors with different connections to the PC. Which of these combos would be the best/have the least issues? - 1x VGA, 1x DP - 1x VGA, 1x HDMI - 1x DVI-D, 1 x HDMI - 1x DVI-D, 1x DP My graphics card has 3x DP, 1x HDMI, and 1x DVI-D. The monitor I'm looking to add has 1x DisplayPort 1.2, 1x D-sub, 1x HDMI 1.4. The current monitor only has 1x DVI-D and 1x VGA. Thanks!
  4. I'm confused -- on AOC's website it says 1440p? https://us.aoc.com/en-US/gaming/products/monitors/24g2sp Edit: Nvm! This is the correct link: https://my.aoc.com/product/24G2SP
  5. Thanks, good idea with the VESA monitor arm. Do you have any recommendations for VESA monitor arms? Edit: desk is backed into a left corner, and printer is on right side, and no room to move desk away from wall, so I think a VESA monitor arm would be pretty difficult..
  6. Thanks so much! How is this only $160 and 165Hz with 1ms response times? And 1440p?
  7. Hi all, I'm looking to get a monitor for someone who will be using it for general productivity/work. Desk space is pretty limited, so the monitor must be 24in or less -- preferably 21-22inches, but will work with 24in. I'm looking through this list at B&H, could someone recommend me the optimal choice here? I've filtered to below a budget of $200 as well. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/products/Computer-Monitors/ci/6559?sort=PRICE_LOW_TO_HIGH&filters=fct_a_filter_by%3A01_FREESHIP%2Cfct_a_stand-positions_2714%3Aheight%7Crotation%7Cswivel%7Ctilt%2Cfct_brand_name%3Aasus%7Cbenq%7Cbenq-zowie%7Cdell%7Chp%7Cnec%2Cfct_price%3A0..200%2Cfct_screen-size_953%3A17in%7C21.5in%7C23.8in%7C24in I'm thinking either the ASUS VA24EQSB or ASUS VA24DQSB, but don't really understand how the VA24EQSB is cheaper, even though I think it's a newer model. The EQSB also seems to have higher max brightness as well as lower power draw. https://www.displaydb.com/compare/asus-va24dqsb/asus-va24eqsb Am I missing something here?
  8. Thanks so much for the build list! Could I ask what you think about this motherboard? https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16813145420 ? It is also $200 but is Z790. Is it better to go Z790? I also forgot to mention that I have 2 drives that I'll be adding in from a previous build. A HDD and a WD Black SSD. Is the PSU enough now? Also, unfortunately the 6800XT has jumped in price by a lot, do you recommend any alternatives? Should I wait for GPUs on Black Friday? Thanks again
  9. Ok, thanks for the input. I was wondering this, as many retailers are having sales now, but I figured I'd get some advice early and I can stagger my buying anyway as I don't need all the parts at once.
  10. Hi, I would appreciate any recommendations for a PC build! Budget (including currency): 1700 USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 1440p gaming at 165hz, Apex Legends, Hunt: Showdown, Minecraft w/ Ray Tracing, code compilation in VS Code, multi-tasking with lots of chrome tabs Other details: would love to have a mix of USB-C and USB-Type A ports on front I/O, as well as headphone jack. would love to have 32GB DDR5 ram would love to have a quiet system with low temps Monitors Currently have one 1440p monitor, but in the future may plan on having two 1440p monitors, or one 4k and one 1440p. Peripherals Not right now Why are you upgrading? Current PC build is 5 years old; while fully functional as a productivity machine that I will give to someone else, it currently lags on games such as Apex Legends.
  11. Ok, thanks so much for letting me know. I'm surprised that there are not many major-name brands for these wifi/bluetooth PCIe cards; I see a lot of brands I haven't heard of for PC parts.
  12. Ok, thanks. I think front IO is a bit limited, but will consider it.
  13. Thank you everyone for the responses. Reason for adding wifi/bluetooth functionality to the pc build is to mainly support a bluetooth headset and controller for gaming. The motherboard I mentioned also does support a CNVI upgrade kit, such as this and this, I believe. "Intel CNVi Ready: Supports Intel CNVi Wi-Fi module, IEEE802.11 AC wave2" But instead of using AC wifi, could I use this AX kit? But if I can't do this, I think going PCIE would be best based on the responses here. Portability is not really a factor. I just want to make sure that there would be seamless connection with speakers, headsets, or a controller.
  14. Hi, I want to add wifi and bluetooth to a pc build. It seems to me like there are two options: 1) USB dongle 2) PCIE card What are the pro's and con's of each option? I also saw these wifi/bluetooth chips that they use for laptops; is there anyway I can use it in the m.2 slot on the motherboard? Thanks in advance; I'd also appreciate any specific product recommendations.
  15. Thanks for the suggestions! Couple of questions: What type of games and programs will scale up to 8 cores? I was thinking about Ray tracing in terms of the GPU. What is "qlc"? Lol, you seem to be a big fan of the case haha.
  16. Thanks for the suggestion... Are you talking about GPUs? Considering the coronavirus situation, wouldn't there be delays too?
  17. 18. Hi all, After viewing Taran's 2 massive video editing Premiere tutorials and his use of macros, I wanted to ask if anyone has ever automated their workflow in either Premiere Pro and Davinci Resolve (the 2 platforms I plan on using). I know there is some automation with some smaller and open source video applications, but is there any chance of automation with these two major commercial editing programs? Best, Eric
  19. Thanks, but what's the reasoning behind the GPU choice? Over the EVGA RTX 2060 KO Ultra
  20. Thanks. What brands of coolers should I be looking at? Noctua seems really expensive, is there anything better than be quiet! at the ~$50 price point? Also, should I be looking at Ram timings?
  21. Thanks! What motherboard would you recommend instead of the b450? It's sold out on Best Buy and $200 at Newegg.
