gokhyildiz reacted to LukeSavenije in [EOL] PSU Tier List rev. 14.8
PSU Tier List 4.0 rev. 14.8 (END OF LIFE)
    Last Update: 27-07-2021

    Legend :
Gray - EoL/obsolete and/or otherwise not recommended for purchase.
Green - small form-factor (gold and blue colors are disregarded due to scarcity of SFX PSUs)
Gold - best units in the tier (includes requirements for blue color in tier A)
Blue - quiet operation under moderate load (see details in the spreadsheet)
Hyphen / Dash - Series / lineups separator
Slash - Models (inside one series) separator
Parenthesis / Round brackets - Model variations (which belong to the same position)
Square brackets - Additional description (wattage range, part of SKU code, label / casing color, release year)
Numbers in red colored square brackets - footnotes, see descritptions at the end of respective tiers
Low priority subtiers - Lack of info (no reviews) or minor issues (see the corresponding tab in the spreadsheet). Not recommended for purchase over any normal priority units.
Multi-rail units - Not necessarily better than single-rail units but provide an extra layer of protection by having 12V OCP set lower than total capacity, which is especially relevant for very high capacity units (=>1kW). Pay attention to rails configuration when using with high power draw components to avoid shutdowns.

See spreadsheet for changelog, methodology, detailed description of colors, review sources, notes on grayed-out units including issues like GPU incompatibility or quality and performance issues, and other additional info.

[1] Units experiencing tripping issues with high transient power draw GPUs like AMD Vega, 6900 XT and nVidia RTX3080 / 3080 Ti / 3090.
[2] Corsair SF units with LOT codes from 194448* through 201148* have potential problems, Corsair conducts a voluntary replacement, source.
[3] Units that don't reach full rated capacity under full rated input voltage range.
[4] Antec EA Pro Gold has versions for Chinese market made by FSP on competely different, worse, group-regulated platform (tier D). Source #1, #2.
[5] Corsair HX1200 and HX1200i units with LOT codes in range between 2030* and 2041* may exhibit motherboard compatibility issues, entitled for advanced RMA, source.
[6] Early EVGA G3 revisions had issues with out-of-spec performance under overload.
[7] Older Seasonic Focus revisions (made before 2018) had transient sensitivity issues. Some new SKUs are not affected because they were released later (Seasonic Focus GM/GX/PX refreshes, Phanteks AMP, NZXT C/E etc.).
[8] Seasonic PRIME based units experience shutdowns with RTX3080/3090 (and possibly RX6900 XT) GPUs, especially ones with unlocked power limit like FE and ASUS Strix. It is recommended, if going with such units, to overprovision wattage, 1kW for RTX3080 and 1.2kW for RTX3090, or power-limit the GPU, or performing a 'dirty' fix of disconnecting a pin of 12V V-sense wire from PSU-side connector of 24-pin motherboard cable (courtesy of Jonny Guru). Units based on post-2018 revisions of Seasonic Focus platform and majority of units by other OEMs are not affected.

[1] MWE V2 units have high ripple issues on very low load also resulting in increased coil whine, fix pending.
[2] High wattage CWT GPX based units have problems with failing burn-in test under sub 90VAC input, treat as 230V only, (Jonny Guru).
[3] Units experiencing tripping issues with high transient power draw GPUs like AMD Vega and high-end nVidia Ampere.
[4] Two versions of Segotep GP-G exist, older v1 version is non-LLC resonant and they're very hard to extinguish externally, hence model tiering based on v1.

Hmm, HP in the model name makes me think it's a High Power unit, with HPW potentially being a new platform we don't know about.
Wouldn't be the first time Xigmatek uses High Power (Centauro and XFP were also High Power).
Honestly, without an internal shot, we can't determine if it's a new platform, a modified platform, or a rebrand of another unit.
Uses a 120mm double ball-bearing fan, doesn't claim OTP (disqualifies from Tier B), doesn't claim OCP (might still have it on minor rails, but still), and is DC/DC according to the specs on their page for the Shogun G, though the side sticker doesn't match the amps shown there so their marketing is a little sus, but that doesn't matter as much as the PSU build quality.

Honestly, just looking at the specs page, it's already a Tier C (or potentially lower) PSU.

The main reason i stopped reccomending ASUS boards is because their default Fan bios generally has a HARD limit at 75c. If your CPU gets to 75% all fans will ramp to 100%. The last board i used was a z170 Asus Aura. See if this is the issue with your Fan Profile, see if its hitting that and ramping up.

That kit is micron rev. e kit also know as micron e die in the ryzen dram calculator, set the speed to 3600 and the memory rank to 2 and use the fast profile, should work like a charm, especially since that is a high bin kit of rev. e

You'll need to know what die revision is on your ram sticks, I could probably tell you if you link me the kit or just give me the XMP profile

There are many sub timings for the RAM, which helps performance quite a bit. You can choose to leave it as it is, is also fine.

Every chip is different. Yours may need different voltage to be stable at a certain clock speed.

After finished building the PC for a friend. We tested it at 4.0, 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4GHz all core overclock. The Asus motherboard that we used also set 1.3v for 4.0Ghz boost as default. Which is too high for most 3600.
That CPU needs 1.32v for 4.4GHz, 1.26v for 4.3GHz, 1.21v for 4.2Ghz and 1.08v for 4.0Ghz. We ended up settle on 4.3Ghz because of the temperature issue. At 4.4GHz even with a 240mm AIO, it peaked at 80C. It's a bit hotter than we prefer. At 4.3GHz, it'll peak at around 72C. We also try 4.0GHz all core. Max temp 54C, pretty amazing. Also with a set vcore, the temperature is more stable without jumping around too much. It idles nicely at about 38C(OC to 4.3GHz).

I know using a 240mm AIO is overkill for R5 3600. But it's my friend's preference. It's his money. If it's up to me, I'd pick a nice air cooler, like the Scythe Mugen 5 for $40. Which is plenty for a R5 3600 with OC.

I won't worry of degradation with 1.3v the way we use our machines. Unless you run it at max load all the time 24 hours a day, everyday, every week.

1.3v should be fine on the 3600, but you should stay there or below that voltage, if you can manage 4.3ghz at 1.3v the I'd go for it since it's a pretty sizable OC from stock, DRAM speed and latency is a bit more important on Zen cpus though, so I'd grab dram calculator and set a good profile for your ram.

Overclocking doesn't really make sense for zen as performance gains are not  huge
If you want set the voltage to 1.35 (offset) and see where you would go from there
If I were you I would focus on over clocking the ram rather than the cpu

Either is fine. Just dont use 1.4v as that will degrade the CPU very quickly

Depends. For 3900X, probably not. For 3600(non X), the boost clock is only 4.2GHz. You can easily overclock it to 4.3GHz or even 4.4GHz. Both single and multicore with benefit from the overclocking.

If you can run it stable 4.4Ghz for 1.3v, it will be great. Try run AIDA64 for a couple of hours to make sure it's stable. 15min isn't enough. I built a PC two weeks ago for a friend with 3600. His chip needs 1.32v to be stable at 4.4Ghz. I think 1.325 is the max safe voltage for 24/7 use.

I have the dsh3 with an R5 2600. It's basic but it gets the job done. One thing to know is it only has 2 fan headers, so that leaves you with only one for a case fan. I had to buy a fan hub which added £20. If I were buying again I'd probably spend a little more for something like the MSI tomohawk, however if your budget won't allow this board will work, just don't expect anything amazing.

No difference TBH at least on my personal experience (it is still going to be dual channel even if using 4 modules)

If it's for gaming it would even be ok to go 2x8 to cut down the cost, eventually upgrade to 32GB with two more modules in the future if needed.

I have never used those specific boards but if I were to choose based on the data I can find:

The two Gigabyte boards seems to have slightly better VRM than the MSI board.
I would choose the DS3H mainly because it has two more RAM slots.
