  1. Hi. I was looking to get some extensions for my 8 pin eps cable , 24pin Cable, and maybe for the 8 pin pci e cable (2 of them actually). I read something awhile back about someone using old cables on a new psu and it basically fried their system, the wire layout was different and a few reviews for extensions say stuff like that too. I was wondering if anyone could recommend some decent extensions, preferably sleeved or if having the wrong extension could fry my system. There's really no information about this (that I can find) and specs don't say anything either. I don't know if it matters but I'm using an evga 850 g3 supernova psu and a evga z370 ftw motherboard, I also contacted their support but they didn't really help besides pointing out that they sell some L shaped pcie cable extension thing. thanks for your time.
  2. I'm not debating that doing tests are bad, I just feel a bit apprehensive to run something that hammers the cpu and or gpu for 24hrs. I just curious what is a good gauntlet for it to check stability. I need my pc for work atm, my laptop is getting repaired. I'd love to know your stress testing process. I ran prime95 for about 5 1/2 hours, did a couple cinebench r20, an 8 hour realbench, and 2 passes of memtest86, I would've done 4 if I was able to get xmp to work but it's at default 2133mhz and I did 2 passes before I did my cpu oc. It didn't crash and I never seen warning or anything, temps seemed good besides the max 69c in p95 the highest was 56c. I usually only game for about 2 hours at a time if that maybe 4 hrs total if I have more time, the rest is usually just normal workstation tasks nothing that demanding
  3. Hi. I recently built my first pc and today I was working on overclocking the cpu. Nothing crazy, more on the conservative side with 4.8ghz. I was just wondering what is a good amount of time to run prime 95 for a stability check? I know it's intensely debated by some people but I couldn't find anything quite recent, I think the most recent thing was about a 6700k and I don't know if anything changed from suggestions that far back. ive been running prime 95 for about 4 hrs now with max temp of 69c but it usually stays 66 or 67c. I was gonna run for about 6 hours total and do a realbench stress test for 8 hours when I sleep. Any suggestions or input is appreciated. also cpu is a i5 9600k
  4. What will you be doing with the computer? Will you game or is it just a workstation, etc? It's hard to recommend parts without knowing what the main purpose of it is.
  5. Ok, I think I understand. So if for some reason my #1 bios got corrupted or stopped working I would have to switch to bios 2 and start from scratch basically, put in the celeron, update bios than I could switch to my 9600k.
  6. Hi. I have an evga z370 motherboard and for some reason I forgot to do update both bios at first. I'm using an intel i5 9600k which isn't possible with original bios. I used an intel celeron g4900 to get the bios updated. I was wondering if I was to update my 2nd bios now would I need to put the celeron g4900 back in or would I be able to keep my 9600k in for it. I can't seem to find anything relevant on this. thanks for the help
  7. Ahh. Well thanks for the reply and making me feel dumb. Lol. So the bottleneck is from the internet and not the ssd.
  8. Hi. I recently built my first pc and today I was downloading a game and saw that’s it’s been taking quite awhile to download them. I was looking into the numbers for internet and disk write/read speed. My network shows a speed of 90 to 98mbps while the write speed on the disk fluctuates from 10 to 30mbps. So my question is; is it normal for a 80gb game download to take 2 or 3 hrs and why does the ssd seem to write so slow, if it is actually being slow, and what can I do about this? If my internet is supplying data at nearly 100mbps shouldn’t the ssd be able to write it just as fast, considering it’s spec of 3000mbps sequential write speed or is their something I’m missing? thanks my system is an intel i5 9600k, evga z370 ftw, 2x16gb g skill trident z 3200mhz, evga 1080 hybrid and a 1tb western digital black sn750 nvme ssd
  9. I was looking at the 2070 super but I’m def gonna hold out until Black Friday unless there’s a really good deal before. What did you have before?
  10. I was thinking around Black Friday to get something depending on the deals but I was thinking the 2070 super at least. But I should just hold out until the 3k series? I’d imagine my 1080 has quite a bit left in the tank and I’m pretty happy with the performance, especially over my laptop. I’d like a better monitor, aorus cv27f, so maybe invest in that instead
  11. Hi. I finished building my first pc about a week ago and it’s been a long time coming. I started about 2 years ago buying components and because of financial reason I couldn’t finish. I got an evga 1080 hybrid. Now with the rtx GPUs out is it worth an upgrade? Besides the ray tracing and power efficiency I really don’t know what’s different, the architecture too but in performance. So I’m just wondering is the 20 series worth upgrading from the 1080 and if so what model would be worth it? The 2080 to is way outa my budget so anything besides that. thanks
  12. Hello. I just finished my first build a few days ago and I’m looking to optimize the fan setup. I have a Corsair 780t case which provides mounts for either 3x120mm or 2x140mm on the top and front. Another 2x 120mm on the bottom and 120 or 140 at the rear. I have an evga clc 280mm rad and a Corsair h60 and the gpu also has a rad. I’m wondering what would be the best way to set this up? Idk if it matters but I have 3 of the stock 140mm Corsair fans that came with the case, 2x Corsair ml140, 2x Corsair sp120, 2 ek vardar 120ers, 2 cooler master 120mm, and a noctua nf- p14r and nf-p12. Also, cpu is intel i5 9600k and evga 1080 hybrid. My current setup has the Corsair h60 on the rear, cooler master 120s on bottom(intake), 2 ml 140s on front (intake) 2 sp120 on top (exhaust) with the gpu rad in the middle. Any help is greatly appreciated, I have no experience with this yet.
  13. Can you send a link or give me a few suggestions?
  14. Intel i5 9600k. Probably better keeping the $50 and getting something else I want. I appreciate your feedback
  15. Something like this work? https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-1200Mbps-Wireless-Network-Antenna-10-6-10-14/dp/B07FYH7326
  16. I was wondering if I should get faster ram or if it’s worth trying to get the same speed to try and use my current 8gb pair. There’s a 2x16gb trident z 3200 for 130$ and I was looking at the trident z rgb 3600 but that’s $180. Is the 3600 worth $50 more or get the other ones and maybe have a higher probability working my current ram. Both have a cas latency 16 but the 3600mhz is 16-19-19-39 while the 3200 is 16-18-18-38. sry if this is a dumb question I’m just not sure about all this.
  17. Sorry for late reply and thanks for the feedback. One more thing, would it be better to buy a cheap intel WiFi/Bluetooth card and upgrade the router? I really don’t know if mine is good or not but it seems decent. I thought it was supposed to have ac wireless
  18. Hi. I finished up my first build a few days and I’ve already noticed that most of my ram (2x8gb) is being used when I’m gaming. I already wanted to upgrade to 2x16gb but I was wondering if I bought the same brand and speed, g skill trident z 3200, if maybe it would work with the 2x8 pair? Or what’s the worst that could happen? Just not boot? I know they say not to mix ram but I was thinking of having same ram besides capacity. thanks
  19. ASUS rt n66r. I usually get between 80-120mbps download speed
  20. ASUS, I’ll have to check the model. WiFi on laptop and phone is good. Just not great on pc
  21. Hello. I finished my first build and I kinda overlooked Bluetooth and WiFi. I got a rosewill ac1900 WiFi but the signal strength is bad. I was wondering if anyone has a suggestion for a good but not too expensive card, maybe $80 to 100. Bonus if one has a few more USB ports or even dp or thunderbolt but not necessary. Forgot to mention, I was looking for something to go in pci-e slot but I’m ok if it’s external, going for performance thanks.
  22. I’m a moron. I connected to the motherboard hdmi, I thought the card only had a vga port but now it works once connected to gpu.
  23. Intel i5 9600k. Bios was updated already. Worked when I had just the cpu and ram in
  24. Evga z370 ftw mobo, 2x8gb g skill trident z, wd black 1 tb nvme ssd, evga 1080 hybrid, evga 850 g3. The standoffs came preinstalled. Guess I’ll double check the connections
  25. Hi. I just finished getting my first build into the case and it won’t boot. Gives me a q code A0, IDE initialization is started. It was working before I put it in, had windows installed and got the latest downloads. I’ve tried clear cmos and it comes back to same code. The fans run and lights work, just no display. Any suggestions? thanks
