A PC as a streaming device is incredibly inefficient and the operating system gets in the way of the actual purpose of the device, streaming content. Dedicated devices, like a Fire Stick, Roku, or Apple TV is a far better at this. They support the codecs, the DRM, and etc all while consuming as little power as possible.

You can always use Steam in home streaming if you want to use your TV to game on.

Voice remote is pretty damn nice. If you're someone who likes browsing on their tv, that'll be a lot easier on desktop, and of course it opens up more gaming options if the PC is capable. But generally it's just nice having remotes that are purpose built, and plex/jellyfin solves the media sharing problem pretty well.

the biggest one will be ease of use the fire TV stick even my Mum can use.  the closest she's got with a computer is her old Surface 3 (which is STILL putting up an awesome fight on Windows 8 i might add)

An airflow optimised case may well have better temperatures than an open test bench, let anyone some cheapo case with the side taken off.

Well, to be fair not everyone's accustomed on the 'mediocre' quality of budged cases. Heck, I reuse and refurbished an old case (rusty, and got paint chips all over the place, and I have to mod the case to fit two 120mm fans instead of the noisy (yes, they're that noisy) 90mm) and works fine af. It is really a choice of needs tbh, if you need shitload of space for storage, bigger motherboard, or simply because the GPU's too big for budget cases (which afaik, they're mostly on ATX size and wouldn't fit the bigger size of GPU nowadays), and of course, looks, well, I'm definitely get one.

I wouldn't dare to use open case as I got cats that loves to play around (well, safety hazard on anyone either). The fact that my room, I don't know why, simply so darn dusty that my front dust filter always full with dust even for only 2 weeks of use and the inside will definitely got the worst if I left it open.

Also, I hate the hassle of cleaning PC too occasionally. At least minimum once in a year would be nice.

Well, except of the water and dust resistant case that Linus reviewed years ago, there's always a chance of accidental spill that come in onto the case as simply they have holes still.

Less dust, less noise, smaller risk of accidents.

I still wear a wrist watch but almost none of my friends do. All of them just take out their smartphones to see the time.
What about you ? Do you still wear a wrist watch or do you do you use your phone to see the time ?

Apart from a running watch I use occasionally while running or walking (for exercise), I haven't used a watch in 21 years. It's been that long since I bought my first mobile phone.

I find that the skin under the back of the watch gets damaged if I wear a watch daily. I get reddish, tender patches that take many days to heal. And it only takes a day for a funky, fungal smell to develop. That happens to be a smell I'm extremely sensitive to and disgusted by. Not nice at all.

Also, I spend almost all of my time either at work or at home, and in both places I'm surrounded by computers with the time visible in the task bar, and wall clocks, and clocks on kitchen appliances. And there's a clock on the dashboard of my car as well - not that the alternative would've been using my mobile while driving!
I'm really struggling to come up with situations in my daily life where I would benefit from a watch. Getting the mobile out of the pocket takes a second or two. In cold weather, it would even be faster than digging into multiple layers of clothing to get to a watch!

No, I will never wear a watch daily again.
Exercise watches for a few hours at a time, every couple of days, that's fine though.

I have a smart watch, I mainly got it for notification buzzes since I would normally keep my phone in my handbag whether I was at work or at home and would sometimes miss texts or emails from family.

I like watches and smartwatches. Though, I haven't really used one since I started working from home.

    It's quicker, it's easier.

I also find myself far less likely to get sucked into BS Facebook/Reddit scrolling when I'm not already half-way there because I'm checking my phone.

If I'm sitting at a desk (working on a coronary) then a watch is superfluos. However, half my job now involves running my own biz and running around and I've learned to be very efficient with tasks. A watch is far less a PITA when it comes to time mgmt than a smartphone, and until we start putting radio isotope power generators in smart watches so they never need to be charged I will stick to a standard watch. I also don't like a lot of crap in my pockets, phones are heavy and I don't allow reps or business level contacts to text me. Adults and grown ups us E-mail for paper trails.

Last, conventional watches are getting really cool again, and the high end watch market is exploding There are some really cool looking watches for a couple hundred bucks out there.

i always wear a watch, nowadays i wear a galaxy 4 smartwatch. great companion in a gym. You wont really wanna pick up your phone for notifiction or to see time while running on a treadmill. heart rate censors and calories burned are great too.

I used to wear a watch but then my wrist got too big, and I have a decent internal clock that can approximate the time enough for me whenever I'm not in school where there's clocks every 10 feet. In the few cases I do need to know the exact time I can get my phone out of my sleeve to check.

i stopped using my wristwatch, phone replaced it

main reason is because phone time is always accurate, while my watch tends to drift a couple minutes a year and it's annoying
i keep good track of time so i dont have to fish it out of my pocket that often

my phone recently broke and only then i wore it for a couple days, until i got a new phone
