All new, but you can change that to get it under. I think I did well but take mine with a grain of salt. Great cpu, well reviewed board (with wifi as a plus) and case, fast memory, 2.5GB storage, GPU good enough for 1080p 144hz (which are the monitor specs for this i recommend; 24 inches because 1080p).

Theyre different solutions. 
 
NextCloud is a web browser solution, think of it like a web version of Dropbox. 
You create users, and you map folders to your users of what they can/cant access, and they can upload/download files, they can also preview/edit documents and watch/listen to media via the plugins directly in the browser. 
 
VPN is a network solution. When your VPN is connected, its literally like you're connected to your network at home...e.g its just like you're on your home wifi. So you'd access things like you would at home, such as through File Explorer, play media through VLC, edit a word document through Word, etc....
 
Personally I use NextCloud for my solution as I might just want to share the odd document and create a shareable link to friends. Or occasionally access my media content from someone elses computer or a work computer, or a network that doesnt allow outgoing VPN connections. 

Yup, it's just a listen port. You need to forward the port, so that incoming connection requests for the VPN service get directed to your VPN server. 

Yeah, theres no reason to remap through non-standard port numbers with how efficient port scanning bots are these days.

THIS. ^^^ I would strongly caution against exposing SAMBA/SMB over the internet due to security implications and inconvenience compared to using a more secure platform like NextCloud on your Raspberry Pi. There are quite a few guides out there if you search "Raspberry Pi NextCloud server" - I've linked the one that looks fairly straightforward below for you to get started.

Yeah NextCloud or OwnCloud are fairly simple solutions to setup and are fairly secure with no known major vulnerabilities. 
When I setup my NextCloud, took me about 30 minutes to install & configure. 
 
SMB should never be exposed to the internet for WAN. Especially SMB/CIFS 1.0 as it major security issues. 
 
In a typical home setup, you only have a single network...so you create your SMB share internally as you would, and ensure that you can access it fine on your home network. 
Then its just a case of installing a VPN server, and setting up a VPN client on your device you want to connect from. Theres no special SMB related configuration required.

I really just game on my PC and watch youtube.  No issues with screen tearing or anything.  Crystal clear, i run it at 240hz with a 2080ti.  All my games on ultra settings, everything looks amazing, example, the new microsoft flight sim.  Stunning picture.  Ive heard that the stand is a little wobbly but i cant comment on that too much as i have my montior mounted.
 
Honestly, if your interested in it, i would get it amazon prime, and if you don't like it, you can return it in 30 days.

I just got a Odyssey G7 on Sunday, 1000R Curve 32" and its great.  I have never had a curved screen so i was expecting it to be extremely noticable but its not at all.  Took me like 1 hour to get used to.  I sit pretty close to the Monitor (24" is a guess).  If you sit far away I could see it being an issue.
 
Don't read into the reviews you see too much, all the backlighting issues, dead pixels, Gsync issues i read about scared me, but i have seen of these at all in the past week and have been using it every night.
 
I got mine off amazon with Prime Delivery for $750 last week.

So look at it like this. You have a plain router without wifi(you will disable it). Now a lot of these hubs have a main unit which can be used as thr router/firewall/dhcp... if it didn't then these wouldn't be able to operate when plugged in to your modem.
 
Since you want your main router to handle everything like routing (nat), firewall, and passing out ip addresses (dhcp) you will want to disable those features on the mesh network or you create a network with 2 of everything.
 
So for example you have 68.8.8 8 as your external ip from your isp, then it hits your router which assigns anything on it an ip of 192.x.x.x... now since you are in double nat the hub system is assigned a 192.x.x.x ip , but then assigns a 10.x.x.x ip to anything connected to it.
 
This means wired devices cannot communicate with your wireless ones and vice versa.. it also means that anything on wifi that needs an open port will need to negotiate for it twice depending on setup.
 
Another solution if the above sounds overly complicated is to just buy a 5 or so port gigabit switch.
 
Then if your hub is like most you will plug in your modems connection (wan)then have an extra port (lan) you could plug the switch in to allow both wired and wireless connections with only the hub acting as firewall,dhcp, etc

If you start the process using child_process.spawn rather than child_process.exec, it's a lot more powerful, although also a bit less user friendly. In particular, it provides a ChildProcess object, on which you can call childProcess.stdin.write("myData");
 
For example, you could do
const process = child_process.spawn("command", ["-arg1", "-arg2"]); someEventProducer.on("userSentSomething", (input) => process.stdin.write(input)); This is equivalent to typing into the terminal if you ran the server manually.
 
If you go down this route, you probably need more error handling, etc, but hopefully this sets you in the right direction.

Could you possibly wait a few months before building your computer? New cpus and gpus will be released shortly and leaks show performance increases of anywhere between 20-50%.

If you're on stock speeds or just PBO, that's really too excessive imo. 
I actually don't really use OCCT, so I'm not sure how much current it draws and how it is for stability testing, I mostly use Linpack and Prime95 myself, though even for a manual overclock I'd imagine a couple of hours will be more than enough.

What are you planning on getting exactly? 
Also are you looking at an Intel cpu. Because 2933 is the official spec sheet before you technically overclock the imc. Though getting something above that is totally fine. As the imc will handle it. 
Xmp isn't really an overclock imo. 

Is there any particular reason you don’t want to overclock your memory? I, like most people, would really suggest it.

I don’t know if I’m shooting in the dark here, but is it possible to get 1Gb download (don’t really care too much about upload) across all devices on a network? I know that most ISPs say that they offer 1Gb service, but is that for all devices together or for each device individually? A good example is when people say “10 gig internet” like Linus, does that mean 10Gb split across all devices or to each device?
 
I’m looking to upgrade my home WiFi so I can download games faster, while also allowing my family to watch YouTube, Netflix, TV, browse the internet, etc. on their own devices. If anyone knows of a way to do this with a mesh network system from a reputable(-ish at least) brand and, for my sanity, a good router control panel, that would be great. WiFi 6 would also be a great bonus. I also don’t know if any ISP supports this kind of system even if the hardware does, though, and I’ve seen some plans where they aren’t available yet because I’m in an apartment. 
 
To be more clear, I would like a system (if possible) that includes all the things listed above, including a modem, router, mesh system, and ISP to support all the bandwidth.
