  1. yeah. to get ethernet into my room i literally just drilled a hole in the wall. but, isn't an option for everyone.
  2. wifi cards are pretty much useless, i'd grab an ethernet cable and hook it up to your router. only good if you can't really get your ethernet cable to your PC.
  3. launch a minecraft or gmod server. you'll probably make a bit of cash if they're half decent servers.
  4. good. just buy an ethernet cable and hook it up into your router. it'd probably be super easy and yield extremely better internet
  5. 6 cores are probably fine for what you're using it for. the 2 extra threads will help if you were streaming it.
  6. at the end of the day, it's not a really big difference. i'd go with the 3500, but the 3300x might do better in some scenarios. just depends on the luck you get.
  7. you need to have your PC connected by an ethernet cable, and if you want even a little performance you might want an SSD.
  8. might be the hardware. is your PC connected by an ethernet cable? it can be your hard drive, memory, or just general unluckiness. what are your specs?
  9. if you were gaming, you don't need too good of a processor. if you're actually going to use it as a workstation or for work, i'd go with more threads. gaming, i'd go 3500. workstation i'd go 3300x.
  10. i'm pretty sure an air cooler would be better in general, it's prolly not going to run too hot and water cooling is probably harder to set up. but, just preference at the end of the day
  11. Hello! Can you be more specific? (example, i7 9700K, and ryzen 7 3700X). If you are thinking about inbetween ryzen and intel, I'd go ryzen.
  12. Ground Left Left If I got to choose, it'd be on my desk. But i don't have room for that. On the new PC I'm getting I already have a desk woodcrafted that's pretty big.
  13. not sure, but at that price range you should expect to get a 2070 super, or a 2080 super. unsure if you want extra storage other then the SSD you're pulling, but it could help. i'd get a Ryzen 7 3700X for this kind of build as well.
  14. it'd probably be nicer then school computers, lol
  15. thanks for the list but i've already fine tuned a lot of my stuff and it's just this that i'm stuck on. sorry for wasting your time though
  16. i'd go with the laptop. for school, you could bring it to classes and such if corona allows it. i'm not sure but the razer might just be nicer overall than a PC in general at that price range. depends on if you need portability or not
  17. this is why you post budget in the topic, lol. but, if you have a super old laptop, it might be better in the price range to get a new one instead of buying all new parts. depends on what the budget is, though.
  18. yeah. especially in these times, you might not want to buy anything too expensive, because you might be able to save up to a grand on the current top of the line PC's when the 3000 series releases and when quarantine is over and stock starts getting higher and people stop having to be on their PC constantly for fun and work and realising they need an upgrade.
  19. get an SSD, HDD's are pretty bad in general aside from bulk storage, even then SSDs are getting better at that
  20. if you were going with 'light' gaming i'd not go this high budget. unless you wanted to get a VR headset, or really kick some gaming ass, you'd probably not want to spend this much on a PC
  21. yeah, i gotchu. this is just for now, i don't know when i'm getting it. i'm just thinking for right now, which one is better. when the 3000's get released the 2080 Ti will likely loose some value, which would be great to have it a bit cheaper
  22. for the prices, first one is 4000 CAD, second one is 1.7K CAD. I wouldn't buy either because, quarantine is making prices boost like CRAZY. if you wanted one now, you can, but with new stuff being released (nvidia 3000s,) and quarantine makes it not the best option
  23. Budget (including currency): under 4000 dollars canadian (preferably under 3800 CAD, max is 4000) Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming, trying to future proof for a good PC for a long time Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I'm trying to figure out what is best for me to do. I am thinking of doing one of two options: 2080 Ti, with 2 TB of SSD storage, and only 16 gigs of ram. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/odinlegoman/saved/#view=dpbmkL OR 2080 super, with 3 TB of SSD storage, and 32 gigs of ram. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/odinlegoman/saved/#view=YKwXbv I don't know exactly what to choose. Could you help me out? (first PC, don't know much)
