Haven't hand-build a PC since 2006 which was a Duo core E6600. Budget & Location Since the GPU market is crazy, I'll use a budget without the GPU. I live in Belgium. I was hoping to spend around 1300-1500 euro. (without gpu) Aim Mostly gaming. Silent components are very much appreciated. I also have a certain look in mind, but it's not the be all, end all. If it can't happen, that's ok. Monitors I have two. A LG 27GL850 and some budget monitor that I'll upgrade shortly too. Most likely also a GL850, or maybe the GN850, since I don't need two usb-hubs. Pretty much one year ago exactly, Linus made a video about upgrading/updating his VR-rig because of an issue with Vive Trackers not working with the USB-ports on the motherboard. The solution was an add-in card. Is this still an issue with the newer boards, or are there specific boards/brands to avoid? I did some googling earlier, and did find some posts on the vive forums and help-page that might explain it, but quite frankly, I don't understand any of it and am not even sure if it's related. The reason I'm asking is that I'm looking for a new build, and I want to go for a compact-ish build. I have a look in mind, and I found a couple of cases I like. I don't know if I'll eventually use trackers, but it would be nice to have the option, without having to rebuild in a new case. If it's no longer an issue (or if it can be avoided), I can go for mini-ITX, but if it is, I have to go for micro-ATX. It would be the Cerberus as in the video. It's the only Micro-ATX case that's compact and that I like, but the pricetag is not something I'm comfortable with... even if it's going to last me years and hopefully more than one build. (Should you know a similar sized case that is reasonably priced AND available, please do share)

I'll try that and report back in few days. It's not just the guestnetworks that disappear, it's all of them. I'm on the latest firmware. I need seperate SSID's because we often have guests over (well, not anymore because corona) and I do not want them to have access to our NAS.

This was measured in the kitchen. Due to installation in the past the modem and router are located in the office upstairs and can't be moved. But I realize now I might have made a mistake in communication. The SSID's stop working and go missing. As in "stop appearing and unable to connect again". It's not a case of losing/bad connection, the connection is pretty stable actually. My bedroom is next to the office. My IPcam is also on the 2.4Ghz network and is always on. But overnight the SSID stops working and it too loses the connection with it, unable to find it again. If I change a single setting (like channel) it almost immediately finds it again, connects to it and is happily monitoring the front door again. Asus has a easy way to create up to 6 guest ssid's. It's basically the same as creating a regular SSID with some additional basic options (access to intranet, allowed accesstime, filtering) The current settings (legacy/20Mhz) are just the settings where I stopped trying to figure it out myself and came to ask for help here. I tried all the combinations. Auto +20mhz, 40mhz, 20/40mhz.. Legacy + 40mhz, etc etc etc. Same for the 5Ghz SSID. At some point (usually overnight which is superweird) "poof goes the SSID". Wirelessmode for 2.4Ghz - Auto - N only - Legacy Wirelessmode for 5Ghz - Auto - AX only - N/AC/AX mixed - Legacy

I upgraded from an asus rt-n66u to an asus ax86u. For the first couple of months the new router worked fine, but recently I noticed it loses networks. I Have four networks, 1 regular 2.4ghz and 1 5ghz, and 2 guestnetworks, also one on their own respective bandwidths. It happens regularly I'll go to sleep, and when I wake up i'll notice either the 2.4ghz bandwith or the 5ghz is "missing". All I need to do is hop into the admin and change a single setting, I usually take the channel, and it will work again. My settings are (near) identical to my old router, which never had that problem. It is up to date, and runs on the stock firmware (so no Merlin). edit: an additional issue I keep running into, sometimes ii will see the networks but refuses to be connected with. I really could use some help figuring this out

Thank you for your answer. i'm not worried about the powerlevels, I suspect 600w will be more than sufficient for the build I have in mind. Regardig the USBports quantity, lIke I said in the video I linked Linus talked about the present onboard usb-ports being incompatible with the Vive trackers, so he had to install a pci-card with usb-ports that used a different chipset on. The question is "is this an issue only for that board/manufacturer, only AMD, or does it also happen with intel" How much louder are we talking about though?

It's been years since I bought a new pc (current i5 gen 4) and even longer since I build one myself (AMD Athlon XP 2500+) and have decided to get and build me a new one. I'm aware new GPU/CPU generations are looming around the corner, and I'll probably could wait with the final build until they arrive, but i'd like to do some planning ahead. My main goal is to build a compact(-ish) and as quiet as possible (vr) gaming pc. I know these are hard themes to combine. I really want to use the Lian-li tu150 (with or without window) with an AMD cpu and Nvidia GPU. The Lian-li uses an SFX powersupply. I've zero experience with these so i've read through some forumposts here and other places and those posts said that SFX supplies are generally louder than regular ATX supplies. These were posts from 3-4 years though, and since technology never stops I'd like to know if this is still the case. Second question, there is a chance I might want to try out VR in the future. Maybe even go for full tracking. As seen in this video Linus had trouble with the onboard USB ports, and had to get a different motherboard and install a USB-card. Is this something that was only applicable to this motherboard(manufacturer) or is it just AMD? Or is this also an issue with Intel? If it is, I could probably go for a Micro-atx case if I really have to, but most are too bulky for my taste, or don't do it for me lookswise.

Is this an issue to only this board/chipset, or is it more widespread? I am considering building a new pc witht he Lian-Li TU150 as a case, but if this is indeed an issue on all boards i'll have to reconsider my case.
