  1. I've rarely even taken into account the "scores" they use as the rating thing. I mostly go there to see the frequency response, weight and some other measurements. But cool I guess
  2. Nah they are decent because they have a pretty in-depth review of everything they review. Also, what do you mean that everything is flat out wrong?
  3. Yes, disable surround. Even CS states that you should turn off any sound virtualisation outside of the game because it has its own HRTF audio system and like many other games stereo for headphones is the way to go. It has always been because you only have two drivers in a headphone. *Cough* *cough* Razer Tiamat
  4. The coiled cable for me is a shame (250ohm variant). I hate it honestly. So fckn heavy.
  5. You're giving the 770 pros a bit of a harsh description. I would say they are less worth their price that's all.
  6. True. However, having poor amplification for some headphones or a bad implementation can lead to poor detail retrieval as well which leads to bad directional cues. In this case, I assume his laptop doesn't have the absolute best built-in sound and that's pretty much why I mentioned it. Edit: I am aware of built in sound in motherboards are good for what you get but some can be worse than others depending on quality or what model.
  7. Ah, alright. Yeah, they can be a bit uncomfortable after some hours but a 5 min break sometimes will relieve it. They clamp quite a bit tho.
  8. They are if you break them in a bit clamp wise. Audio wise they aren't uncomfortable? Nope. Tell that to my absolute newest motherboard audio that can barely power my Tygr 300R that are 30 something ohm and not that low sens properly at a loud volume
  9. Btw, this is just marketing BS and you will not get better sound positioning because that relies heavily on the headphones themselves and the soundcard. With EQ you can get better sound positional cues for footsteps gunfire etc because of those boosted frequencies. Virtual surround sound more often than not degrade sound quality and in return sound directionality. I can say from experience with testing Dolby Atmos, DTS headphone X, and my soundcards "surround" that my soundcard has by far the best "non-echoey" effects and less quality loss. It is not better but it is a different experience for movies or maybe some music but doesn't sound necessarily good for anything really.
  10. I'd say 770 pro 80ohm or 250ohm if you have a good amp/DAC chip in your laptop. I'd recommend either these or K371 from AKG. A headphone DAC/amp paired with those are gonna make them louder and more fuller sounding if you don't have a decent enough built-in audio. You could also get an external USB or 3.5mm mic later if you need it for better quality. Then you could pair a mic as well as the headphones with the desired amp that supports a mic as well. Edit: You might get some interference as well with the laptops audio because they usually have it.
  11. I would not recommend the 6XX for gaming or EDM because of its vocal forward signature with a smaller soundstage compared to other headphones. They are good headphones don't get me wrong but they aren't that "fun". What kind of signature would you like? A more vocal forward signature with an intimate soundstage with good mids or something more open more detailed and or bassy? This is all preference btw.
  12. What type of music do you listen to? Do you play games?
  13. Better but depends on which mobo. But yes the headset only works as its own DAC when used with USB
  14. Any DAC/amp from Fiio, Topping, Soundblaster, iFi, or Schiit. There are of course more but those are reputable. Sound Blaster has software with it as well.
  15. That onboard is pretty meh and will not power most headphones at acceptable volumes and it won't drive them to its fullest potential.
  16. Sound card as in, any external or internal DAC/amp not specifically internal which I assume you thought I meant.
  17. Clean(er) audio. It depends on how good your onboard soundcard is in your motherboard, getting an external soundcard will alleviate that. Which mobo do you have? Also driving headphones that have a low sensitivity and headphones with higher ohms generally benefit more with an amp with more power which can drive all the potential out of the headphones.
  18. They sell separate as well but yeah that USB mic is pretty good. Yeah, I mixed it up as well. Thought, it was the Fiio DAC/amp soundcard without even looking at which model you stated. But any DAC/amp soundcard around the $100 mark would be great from brands like Fiio, Topping, Sound Blaster, or ifi
  19. That's a pretty good combo I guess. But I don't know how those headphones are. I recommend the Tygr 300R for FPS games and other use cases as well. I play EFT and I love these headphones for sound cues and directional audio. I would say a smaller DAC/amp like the ft30 would be good or something from Sound Blaster like the G6 or something in that pricerange.

Got me a Sony OLED 42" TV as a monitor today an…

    OLED is just something else...
  21. They are better if they offer more amplification and cleaner sound.
  22. Alright. Well, the Vmoda Boom Pro only works with headphones with detachable cables. Also, the quality of it is pretty bad with the cable, control box, and overall plastics from what I've heard. I'd say, Tygr 300R with a Modmic or Fidelio X2HR or even the SHP 9600 with Vmoda Boom Pro if you can find it.
  23. They are comfy, have great sound and they are built well. I've had a couple of headphones and the Tygrs are my favorite ones. Edit: Does your budget stretch to around $250 for the bundle? If not then it is pretty hard to get that good of a setup for the money
