  1. Edit: forgot to add - from my experience when things change at a company, you measure change at various cadences, I figured 90 days was a good time, but I won’t remember a month from now. —— I had the question, went to the LTT yt to see when Linus posted the shtf video and it said two months. It comes across as deflection/distraction or just flat out being a troll by debating the intent or legitimacy of a simple and genuine question. Whether it was random and organic or I did set something on the calendar (which is not true) - but why does it matter? We critique our favorite TV shows, music artists, movies, food - and guess what, we will also critique the YouTube “stars”. The only difference here is the YouTube folks are fairly accessible. Why wouldn’t I take an opportunity to ask a question, knowing the risk it may go unanswered?
  2. Brave (and inaccurate) assumption. I was curious, that’s all. Nothing more, nothing less.
  3. I was going to wait until the 90 day mark but I’d probably forget. It has been approximately 2 months since all the things happened. I’m sure from a work perspective, it was stressful. I can say - from a viewer end, I notice less content. The current content rate is good, and the quality “feels” better. This is subjective, of course. I think the community would benefit from hearing from staff. More…unscripted…how are these changes going from your viewpoint? How has it improved your work-life?
  4. I legit missed it, 300+ pages, I haven't gotten through all the content. I see it, I believe it, it's factual.
  5. Where's the proof it was given? Did you see the agreement between the parties? LMG is a corporate entity, there was paperwork / an agreement tied to this.
  6. I disagree that LMG is "falling" - companies make mistakes, LMG/LTT isn't immune from mistakes considering their size. MKBHD makes mistakes all the time, they haven't fallen. We like drama. We are at how many pages in this thread alone?
  7. Hardware Unboxed launched a podcast on the heels of LTT/GN conflict and accusations. Clearly they are trying to steal from the competition of both LTT/GN. Some of you are claiming / stating utterly ridiculous things as fact. Again, you're not going to get an internet loyalty badge from Linus for defending him.
  8. In business, all publicity is good publicity. The lack of quality information and potential misleading to consumers due to lack of quality should be called out. LMG runs circles around GN in terms of subs, views, sponsors. Sure, GN may pick up crumbs from his de-monetized hit piece on LTT. I didn’t say he won’t gain. GN brought (documented) errors to light and challenged LTT to do better - which is pretty consistent / on brand for GN. You can fan-boy LTT all you want, defend them all you want (which is weird), they have some business issues to address, correct and overcome.
  9. The people that are throwing shade at Madison's allegations with zero knowledge or involvement with her alleged experience are part of the problem. The allegations are serious. It's not your job to play internet lawyer. It's also not your job to defend LTT in this situation. Blind loyalty for a situation like this is toxic. You're not going to get an internet badge for sticking up for a company that allegedly treated a human-being less than human. This thread is disappointing. Our cohesive message should be: We hope the allegations are not true. If the allegations are true, they should be taken seriously. If the allegations are true, involved parties must be held accountable.
  10. The business saying is: all publicity is good publicity. By and large, the voices here could be considered the vocal minority. It's likely that LTT / LMG as a whole will not be significantly impacted by what happened over the past 72 hours when we look long-term. There is a short-term revenue impact, but most things that may change are likely internal. We will get more visibility into certain aspects of what makes up videos, but otherwise I'm not seeing a long-term negative impact. The company will press on.
  11. I'd like to think the WAN show would be paused. Keep in mind, the new CEO that has been largely silent or non-existent on screen came out during a time of crisis. We (the audience / consumer) don't know him, a sense of "trust" hasn't been established with him. His appearance gave LTT a very "corporate tone", and it's possible that he (CEO) is pulling more strings in efforts to save face with staff, sponsors, etc... Unless Linus gives some sort of hard promise that he won't respond off-script, in a negative way - the way that got the community to raise pitchforks, it would be prudent for them to pause the show until the harsh reactions die down. Keep in mind, ALL of this, is still flowing pretty strong considering the internet has a low attention span.
  12. 1. Quality > Quantity, and in this case, too many channels is diluting content quality. Don’t become the Applebee’s of tech franchises. That may not translate well to Canadians, glad to explain. 2. Don’t lose the light-heartedness and beaming passion and excitement of Linus in the fun, “full-send” videos. Not all videos require a perfect script. 3. Optics matter, and since LMG is a corporation, it’s time to behave more like one including ethics. The optics behind supporting (or not supporting) brands due to personal investments appears to be a massive conflict of interest. Linus needs to be cautious in this space.
  13. That’s an extreme stance. GN can make a video for anything he desires, and must be willing to accept any side effects, positive or negative. Many of us are quick to call out “emotions”, and while it’s subjective, our emotions aren’t 100% controllable, and trying to dismiss them is inhuman. We have emotions, it’s how we live. That said, it’s obvious that GN is passionate about objective reporting in the tech space and we can say he’s consistent. He has uploaded many videos about the inefficiencies of tech companies claiming to do good but they are misleading the customer. I like one of the comments in Steve’s video, consider this a peer review. When one doctor reviews a cancer study of another, it’s not “competition” or trying to harm a base, it’s ensuring bias of success isn’t clouding the reality.
  14. Gotcha, yeah I’m with you now. Here’s to hoping that both content creators will improve as a result of competition.
  15. There’s a potential to overlap with specific hardware. LTT has a ways to go before I’d consider them as a resource I use to buy a new PC, as an example. GN content caters towards certain hardware with extremely detailed stats - by way of a detailed testing infrastructure. To me (and everyone is different as to why they watch LTT), I find LTT to be like the grocery store, focused with a little bit of everything. GN on the other hand is the butcher - yes it’s still food, BUT, the expertise is that much more in a very specific space.
  16. I don’t agree with comments about GN / LTT channels being competitive. The only element they could be considered as competitors is the huge hardware releases, where near ALL tech reviewers are making the “mega videos”. Otherwise, I do not see a straight 1:1 comparison in content between GN and LTT.
  17. I didn’t comb through all ~266 pages of posts. Some practical and gentle reminders for all of us: - In this context, we are all consumers or we are the product. Our viewership and engagements contribute to feeding the “machine” that LMG / LTT has scaled to. Remember to protect your own interest whether you are the product or consumer. - We have no responsibility, nor should we actively defend GN or LMG / LTT due to the above. Extreme-ist fans, or those that subscribe to blind, and really, meaningless loyalty, doesn’t help the community at all. - If any company desires to actually grow, they will do what is right by their consumers, even when we don’t notice the change. Continuous improvement is vital, especially to a company like LMG / LTT where economies of scale plays a factor in a business. What do I mean? I $1m company has to operate very differently than a $250m company. - Finally, don’t let company errors drive wedges in the community. You didn’t cause the error, you have no responsibility to defend the company. We can all critique, but do so constructively, with intent, and with purpose.

    Do you really?

I don't mind signatures, sometime I look at the spec signatures for inspiration or just to see what folks do.

    Do you really?

Many folks take a lot of time on their signatures, do you really read the signatures?
  20. Ok, I'm stuck. I have a proxmox box (7.3-3), and on proxmox I have a ZFS pool (mirrored) setup. I also have a samba container ready to go. What I cannot figure out... I want to be able to: Backup (using rsync or something) from Windows 10 machines to proxmox box -> ZFS Pool.
  21. As a follow-up, memtest failed. I did purchase a new PSU because I have a feeling that my SeaSonic Focus Gold has an issue. I've seen a few other threads reference failures of sorts at high load. Once the new PSU is in, I'll run memtest again (after a minor BIOS update), see where things stand.
  22. I was doing some flight simulation today, and had a bunch of windows open so I’m speculating high load on the PC. The PC flat out restarted, no BSOD, Windows event viewer said critical kernel power error, generic. My gut says my SeaSonic Focus 750w isn’t cutting it with a 5900x/3080 combo, but running MemTest - it’s on the final pass of all the tests and I have ~150 errors and counting. Is it safe at this point to do a check on the BIOS, see if there’s an upgrade, run the MemTest again? Or should I just assume I have some bad RAM and order some new stuff…and pay for a larger PSU…I’m not sure how to test that.
  23. I turned off audible slack notifications in the interim, but I haven’t tested with other audio sources. I’ll comb through zoom settings again.
  24. On my work machine (Dell Latitude), I use Slack, Zoom and Google Meet. I changed the setting in Sounds to “Do Nothing” if I get a notification. - When I get a Slack notification, Zoom volume drops, BUT if I get a Slack notification and I’m in Google Meet, it’s fine. I can’t find a single setting that would be causing this in Windows, Slack or Zoom and it’s going to drive me insane. Thoughts on how to fix this?
