  1. I went with X570 Steel Legends and it works great. Great IOMMU groups with ACS in BIOS! Great VM performance. It is almost like you won't notice it is running in a VM.
  2. I was having trouble passing through USB devices in my current Gigabyte B450M DS3H + Ryzen 2200G + 8 GB RAM. Libvirt would be very sensitive to any USB changes and it would not start the VM sometimes. I might passthrough the USB devices if it works fine in my new setup. I am more familiar with libvirt and virt-manager in Linux plus with CPU pinning with all my cores and giving the guest most of my RAM e.g. 22 GB out of 24GB, and passing through a physical drive, the performance difference is hardly noticeable. Also we can hide the VM from the Windows host almost completely. I might want to utilize a multi-monitor setup in Linux in and I have a moral bias against using Windows when it is unnecessary.
  3. I would have gone with ASRock B550 Steel Legend but the X570 Steel Legends was cheaper when I made the purchase. Should I cancel my order and get a B550? I mainly use Linux for my day to day work. The only time I will ever use Winbloats is when running COD Warzone and other multi-player games. I cannot live without Vim, fish, and a tiling window manager.
  4. I will only passthrough a USB controller along with my GPU. I know there is an option for AER to split IOMMU groups in X570.
  5. I do not have the money for a second GPU rn. However, I have done it successfully in the past. The host will be Arco Linux or Fedora and the guest will be Windows 10.
  6. In single GPU passthrough, you have only 1 GPU total which you unbind from the system and unload the GPU drivers before starting the VM via QEMU hooks and once the VM exits, you rebind the GPU and load the graphics driver again.
  7. Only 1 GPU total because Single GPU Passthrough is different from the traditional GPU passthrough. I will have a RX 570 and Ryzen 7 3700X with 24 GB of 3200 MHz RAM.
  8. I am doing single GPU passthrough so I'll only have 1 GPU(https://gitlab.com/decisivedove/guide-to-single-gpu-passthrough/-/blob/master/README.md). In that case is the B550 Steel Legend better? I have successfully passthroughed a RX 570 to my Gigabyte B450M DS3H altough it was not smooth and required ACS patch.
  9. Hi, I am looking for a mobo for virtualization with good IOMMU groups, development, and gaming. The MOBO will be paired with Ryzen 7 3700X. I have heard great things about ASRock for virtualization and IOMMU grouping so I decided to go with the ASRock X570 Steel Legends for ~$160 because it was on sale. However, my question is are the VRMs better than B550 Steel Legend or other boards in a similar price range? Thank you very much for your time.
  10. The fully paranoid will probably not use Tor browser. Instead he will have 5 layers of VMs using a different VPN + Tor Network each. That makes 20 nodes that carry their network traffic. Also the fully paranoid's router also uses Tor so 23 relay nodes. The fully paranoid will not run any sort of proprietary firmware and use the linux-libre kernel and use a FSF approved distro. The fully paranoid will also have a RISC-V processor to avoid AMD PSP and Intel ME. The fully paranoid individual also has a very strong wifi antenna which uses a public wifi from 10 miles away. Then that is connected to his own router which uses Tor. Also this boomer refuses to run any proprietary software. Cries in latency while playing online in Super Tux Kart. The web browser this individual uses in Lynx. Also this individual does not trust the repo and compiles everything from source after reading the code 10 times which makes him more vulnerable because he is still running Linux 3.1 without any new security patches.
  11. He later states in the video that if you are tech savy, you can use Firefox with the ghacks-users.js profile. The only reason to mention brave was that it had great privacy settings out of the box for those users who don't want to do the extra step. We have to block ads as well as cross-site trackers which Brave does out of the box. Also Brave can use Tor in a private window.
  12. A quick way to find out is to lower distance scaling and then try to replicate the issue.
  13. Hmm... They should have included Google Chrome. The most private browser ever.
  14. Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter are some of the best things you can do to enhance your online privacy.
  15. The LTT Official Discord is very weird. The rules mention: 5. No advertising of any kind. • This includes "follow me @ Example", server invites, and affiliate links. However after posting an educational video regarding online privacy: to initiate discussion, I get silenced by the bot with no explanation except that I was advertising. The rules must be more clear to prevent ambiguity. It was not an affiliate link, server invite, or advertising of any product. Last week I posted: and did not get silenced. The goals of me posting my videos are always to initiate discussion and never to advertise any product. If you plan on silencing people for advertising, please be more explicit in your rules and in your bot silences. It would be advertising if it was my content or if I was profiting out of the things I post to initiate discussion. The videos posted were all of smaller YouTubers who posed no threat or competition to Linus Media Group. Thus the word "advertising of any kind" does not apply here. You may say that I am advertising "Free Software" but in that case, what entity am I really advertising? Saying things I like Corsair products is no less advertising and people don't get silenced for it. I understand that it is private property and that I have to play by your rules and do not get to exercise free speech but please consider being more explicit in rules and silences. We want to create a friendly environment for all of us who are in the platform. I did not know what category this would belong so I posted it in #off-topic.
