  1. That makes sense, HDDs are pretty cheap nowadays anyways. =)
  2. Holy crap that's amazing! I really like how the system fan header on the mobo is actually PWM and not just a 4-pin pretending to be PWM. I don't think she'll need 16GB of RAM though, but I suppose it can't hurt. The only problem is availability of these parts in The Netherlands, we can order from Amazon.de but it only accepts credit cards which we unfortunately don't have. So I hope we can get these parts here and preferably around the same price (German taxes might be different than Dutch taxes, not completely sure). Anyways, that's a huge help! Thanks! =)
  3. The cheapest I've found it in The Netherlands is €65. I think that around €150 for the GPU is reasonable based on other 2nd hand prices I've found.
  4. Hey there! I'm helping a friend build a mid-range/budget gaming system. We're located in The Netherlands and the budget is around €600 though I can go up to €700 if the extra costs make sense. The system will be her main system and she'll use it for every day stuff like browsing the web and the like, some gaming and some light digital art work in Photoshop and similar programs. On the gaming side of things she likes MMOs like Guild Wars 2, RPGs like Diablo 3 and I'd say she likes action adventure stuff like Tomb Raider. Below is a pc part picker list of the parts that I've picked. The only thing missing is a GPU, for that I'll be selling her my MSI GTX780Ti Gaming since I want to upgrade to a GTX1080 and the 780Ti is more than enough for what she wants. I set the country to Germany because it's the closest thing to us. The only thing I'm concerned about is the PSU but any feedback would be appreciated. =) Parts List
  5. Congratulations! I guess it's only appropriate to share how I found the channel. I found the channel maybe 2 or 3 years ago when I started getting interested in hardware and I guess I stuck around for the humor and informative videos.
  6. Hey everybody! I started overclocking my 4770K and I think I might have hit the limit of what I can drag out of my chip. Currently it's at 4.3Ghz @ 1.177 volts. The hottest it got in Intel Extreme Tuning Utility was 69c, based on that I'd say that I can go further. But when testing with Aida64's FPU test I got a max of 93c. So I don't really know what to do from here, do I keep going and just use XTU to test for stability or do I just stop here? Also, I feel like these temps aren't quite normal. I have a Corsair H100i and my fans seem to ramp up just fine. It would be great if anybody has some input on this. Do you think I should try reseating the cooler? Thanks for any input you guys can give me.
  7. Thank you all for your comments! I've decided to stick with these parts, though CoolBeans listed some awesome stuff as well. I have to admit though, the main reason I went for the MSI board is because of the dragons on it. I probably won't see much of them but the idea of having them is awesome enough for me. Also, dragons are awesome as shiz! As for the monitor, I've decided to go with the Asus PA248Q after watching Linus' $2000 build guide. I'll make sure to make a build log of some sort when I'm building.
  8. So I'm about ready to buy the components for my first build, just waiting for insurance to give me my money. This build will be a gaming PC mainly, but I also like to do some video/photo editing as well as everything else people do with a PC. Also, I'm planning to add a second 780 Ti as well as one or two extra monitors in the future. While I'm pretty much ready, I'm quite unsure if there are components out there that would fit better. I don't really have a set budget but I'd like to stay under €2000 (2777 USD) excluding peripherals. I'd also like to mention that I quite like color coordination and hold aesthetics in high regard, so keep that in mind when recommending parts. The second thing I want to ask is if anybody has recommendations for a good monitor. I've been torn between the BenQ 2420T (2420TE in the US) and the Asus PA248Q. I generally prefer good color accuracy over fast screens. I've heard a lot about the Asus being a pretty poor gaming monitor but I've also heard that it'll do fine as a gaming monitor. I'd really appreciate the help with this. I'm also planning on hooking up my Xbox 360 to the monitor, not sure if that's significant but I thought I'd just throw that out there. I don't often play fast paced games like Battlefield or something, I mainly play adventure games like the Assassin's Creed series, Skyrim, Far Cry (though I guess that could be considered somewhat fast paced). Case: Corsair Obsidian 450D Motherboard: MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming CPU: Intel i7-4770K CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro H100i RAM: Corsair vengeance Pro 16GB 1600 MHz GPU: MSI GTX780 Ti Gaming Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 250 GB & WD Black 1 TB PSU: Corsair AX860 I apologize if it's a lot of information, but I prefer to be as thorough as possible with questions like these. Thanks a lot in advance!
  9. Shameless post to get free phone..... In all seriousness, I think my favorite feature must be the front facing speakers. I think it'll be a hell of a lot better than the speaker my S2 has.
