  1. I prefer something mobile, but honestly I could adapt my workflow if a laptop leaves too much performance on the table at this price point.
  2. But is there a significant tradeoff in opting for a macbook pro over a kitted out iMac or basic iMac pro?
  3. Yes. I have to limit my upgrade to all macOS products.
  4. So I have a Macbook Pro from 2015 that has been a reliable laptop for a number of years, but memory and performance have begun to get a bit slow. I need an upgrade. I need to keep everything Apple, since I need video and project files to play nice with the mac ecosystem that they use at my workplace. My max budget is $5000 USD. What is the best bang for my buck in terms of getting a new setup that can handle use of the Adobe Creative Suite (mainly Illustrator, Indesign, Photoshop, Audition, Premier, and Aftereffects). I'm open to keeping my current macbook pro to use for portability reasons. I know that they are introducing Apple Silicone soon, but if I had to upgrade today, what would be your recommendation(s) for possible device(s) setups that I should upgrade to?
  5. I don't really have any peripherals for a desktop aside from a decent mouse. I also don't have a any desk real estate for that big of a setup in my living space. I know that a gaming laptop has tradeoffs versus gaming on a desktop, but I'm pretty OK with those. Most of my note-taking at university at this point is project based, where I'd be editing video, audio, etc. So I don't need to worry about how it functions in classrooms during lectures. That being said, I'd prefer something more portable than brick-ish. So for me that either means a thin and light gaming rig or something with an egpu. Are there any recommendations that anyone has for those sort of machines?
  6. The only Apple product I've ever bought was a 1st gen iPod shuffle. That being said, I'm not a huge fan of iOS at all when I've used it. I'd really like to stay in the Windows ecosystem if possible. Plus I know that I'd have a harder time gaming on a Mac, which is kind of a deal breaker for me.
  7. I'm still a student and need a laptop for my classes at university. So I figure I'd like to try to make the most the one computer I'm working on instead of dividing up my work flow between two machines.
  8. Looking to buy a new laptop in the $1500-2000 ish price range. I want something that can game and also handle 1080p video editing. What are some suggestions?
  9. I don't think much has changed except for introducing new guns, abilities, and maps that have been added. Oh, they do now have a zombies mode. So that's in addition to the ranked and unranked matches and the battle royal mode. I find the gameplay loop pretty compelling.
  10. I've had a lot of fun playing Call of Duty Mobile on Android. It's rife with micropayments and premium currency offers, but paying doesn't get you a distinct advantage over playing the game for free. There is a lot of customization available for altering controls and sensitivity. It even has options for different frame rates and options for low, medium, and high graphics of you want to optimize your phone's battery.
  11. So I am looking for a laptop in the $1500-2000 USD price range. I want something that will perform decently as a gaming rig but will also allow me to run programs like Adobe Premier without issue when working on shorter (>20 min.) projects filmed in 1080p. Not being super in-the - know about hardware differences, I'm not sure how different configs will affect this balance or if it's something I even need to worry about at this price point. Nonessential preferences: I'm not a fan of products that scream "Gamer!" in their design. I'm definitely more interested in a portable product with a smaller form factor. I'd like a display with good color accuracy, though I don't need 4k. I have the luxury of waiting a few months to buy this in case new products are coming out that may affect prices. I love the look of the Maingear Element from one of the more recent LTT vids, but feel like I should inquire with people more knowledgeable than myself. So with all of that in mind, which laptops should I take a look at?
