As it turns out, i did receive yet another lemon of a graphics card from Asus. I Tried a different GPU on my system that worked perfectly, confirming that all other components in my PC are running correctly. To confirm this i also tested the faulty GPU on a friends system and the same issue was observed.

I have now gone in for my second RMA, hoping for the best.

One of my GPU's did that just before it died. It does look like a GPU issue. Maybe they mixed up the cards and sent you another faulty one.

Have you tried another card to test the slot?

it's most likely a GPU issue, and likely they did not replace your unit, check the serial number if you have a receipt of the original purchase, it should have a S/N, and cross check with your current card to see if they changed it

Looks like you got another lemon of a graphics card in place of the one they replaced.

expect performance to be somewhere between a regular 1070 and a 1060 depending on the game due to the overhead requirements of an egpu enclosure.

If you want 144FPS expect to turn the setting down.

If memory serves me right when eGPUs were a thing, there is a performance hit so high framerates on AAA titles may not be possible

Nah it will lose a bit of performance, PCIe 3.0 x4 is not enough
