Why? I have 6 launchers and they all work great. About to hit 80 hours in Subnautica because of Epic and once Below Zero hits $10 again, I'm snagging it.

Going by the explanations of the term from the creator of it, Gary Gygax, an RPG is a game with limitless possibilities, where the story which manifests is non-prescribed but is a natural byproduct of choices and actions made by the player interacting with the game master, world rules, and randomization mechanics. So, an RPG is a game where player choices and actions have an essential role to play in creating and shaping the story that manifests.

Gary Gygax said that linear and scripted stories are not RPGs - which means that Uncharted and Tomb Raider don't quality. They're Action-Adventure games.

Video game RPGs aim to simulate the effect of player choices and actions interacting with a game master, the game's world and rules, and randomization mechanics.

But the term RPG has become very abused in video game publishing and lots of games which aren't RPGs are labelled by their publishers as being RPGs. I'm guessing that a part of it is ignorance as to what the term is intended to refer to, while another part of it is simply exploiting the allure of the term for sales.

Tomb Raider is the direct opposite of role-playing. It's role-assumption. In a true RPG, the player creates the character, and therefore creates the content. Tomb Raider has never been about that at all.

Well than technically any game is an RPG. I perceive RPGs as a game where you can ‘create’ your own character by assigning them skills and characteristics similar to tabletop games - for example Baldur’s Gate or Disco Elysium. There’s also an additional layer to it that separates, for example, Wizardry from Skyrim. Those small differences make Wizardry, in my opinion, a true RPG and Skyrim an action game with light RPG influences.

Does that mean when it loops it never keeps a steady clock speed?
According to a Reddit post the cpu should get about 8900 points in Cinebench R23 at normal operation. Your score of 2580 is very far below that.

I'd still suggest a complete reinstall of Windows. But not a reinstall from the HP image you created. Instead, use Windows Media Creation tool to create a bootable USB and boot from USB. Then, install Cinebench R23 again and try running it again. If it still doesn't properly work, I'd go for an RMA.

Running a game will put load on the cpu, and using a very low power plan, it will reduce clocks accordingly.
Question, how long have you had this laptop? Is it fairly new? If it is, you can always wipe all "bloatware" and start with a clean Windows install. That way you'll always have a clean machine to test with and will usually fix all your issues.

This is most likely due to low clocks. You effectively divide your cpu power by 10. That's why you should check with the high performance power plan, as it will run your cpu with minimum 100% and maximum 100% (also verify this in the advanced power plan settings).

It actually does make sense. Under low load, your cpu will use less power and can boost higher. When under heavy load, the cpu will automatically throttle and reduce voltages. My work laptop uses an i7 8665U, which under low load can turbo to over 4.4 GHz while using less than 10W. Under full load it will clock down to base at 2.0-2.2GHz while consuming 15W. Full load power draw is very different compared to idle turbo.

Osiris and Guardian are Diablo style isometric puzzle platformers with twin stick shooting.

The rest of Tomb Raider games are nothing like that, except for puzzle and platforming.

I mean, the size of your character in Osiris and Guardian are the size of ants. The gifs I posted above are cut scenes, maybe they threw you off.

    Not these Tomb Raider games.

Guardian of Light and Temple of Osiris are different style games than other Tomb Raider games.
Tomb Raider from 2013 is similar to Uncharted though and it's $2.24 right now on Steam. The Tomb Raider deals just started today. All the older Tomb Raider games are less than a dollar right now(I recommend Underworld) and also Rise of the Tomb Raider is just $5.99. Shadow of the Tomb Raider Definitive Edition is just $14.80 right now as well. It hits as low as $12-$13 on sites like GMG and Fanatical if you want to save a few bucks there.

The recent trilogy most definitely are, but looking at the Steam pages these look similar to maybe Uncharted 1 in terms of presentation and budget?>

ColdPressCoconutOil reacted to Dillonr21 in What laptops come with the 115w variant of the RTX2060?
i was able to mod mine sometime last year before this thread was even opened took me 3 days of scouring the internet researching which model would work and lots of bios flashes till i finally found one that worked and is pretty stable for the 1f15 bios with a 115w cap but it worked and the max temp in the bios is set to 87C so it will lower your clocks so it will not go over that temperature and i have an asus tuf a15 fa506iv thing is though if you are using this bios the power doesn't come from no where it takes power that would go to the cpu so if the game is both cpu and gpu dependent it will run slower in some cases because since the cpu is getting less power it cannot achieve as high clock speeds as it would with the normal power draw of the gpu because this laptop wasn't designed for much more power draw
but in most cases in the games i play they are more gpu bound so i do not mind it all depends on your type of play style or usage scenario. with this vbios flash in most games i only get around 3.6ghz on all 8 cores which is still decent but i used to get around 4-4.2hz turbo on all cores and my cinebench r15 i used to get around 1750-1805 but now i get 1500-1600.

I'm not. I'm saying they MAY have Thunderbolt. USB4 does have Thunderbolt, so it remains to be seen if the new laptops will have that or not.

Usb4 comes with thunderbolt 3 and from the info we've gotten through the grapevine it seems most laptops are gearing up to have usb4 in them including amd laptops. I also never said anything about amd 5000 series laptops tho. That is on you for adding that in there.

Nope, need Thunderbolt. I'm not aware of any Ryzen 4000 - series laptop with Thunderbolt, so your buddy has to either wait for 5000 - series or go with Intel.

Simply put your friend is out of luck if they want an amd laptop. There are none with thunderbolt 3 right now. The soonest you'll get something like it is with usb4 which basically means the next generation of laptops. Other than that there are no docks out there that would do what you want without using a usb gpu which means at best office applications and that is it.
