Upper year CS major here. I'd say start with whatever you feel comfortable with. Some will say you have to start with Big Java: Early Objects and read every word, others will say you must start with C/C++ or python if they're more lax. Personally, I think all you really need is a project to keep you motivated to learn. Whether it be a website for yourself to display your resume and achievements, a simple game that you create, or just an everyday utility tool that you have found a use case for.

Stay motivated! And use a project you are interested in to facilitate your learning.

After the first restart, it should boot from the drive that Windows was installed to. If that doesn't happen, you can just yank out the flash drive before it posts, or go into the BIOS and change the boot order to the target drive. That's always worked for me.

Open Hardware Monitor is very wrong. Lots of similar issue show on the github too .

Try out something else like HWMonitor instead to see per core clock speeds.

i'd get a x570 board, so that you can upgrade to 4000 series.

Depends on ur needs, you may been waiting up to 5-6 months for rtx 3000.... hopefully we'll get a better idea of the time frame on May 14th when nVidia has there keynote.

x470 boards will likely note be supported either. your best bet as of now is a x570 or wait "a month" for the b550.

Cheaper case but in terms of airflow it is superior to the H510, and it still has a TG panel.
Same goes for the air cooler, paying more money for pretty well aesthetics only, the R5 3600 runs pretty cool.
Nothing wrong with those choices, just won't yield any performance return for the money spent.

Good God do not pay that much for that motherboard. Way more than it's worth, you can get X570 boards for pretty much the same price.
For a little more you can get this:

You can also get a Crucial P1 1TB for substantially less than that. SSD is a rip off.
The cooler is trash. There are many, many better options out there.

    Welcome to the forum!

I would change a lot in this build.

    Motherboard with WiFi.
    Better value NVME drive.
I personally cannot recommend the 2070S, for $850cad.... I bought by 1080Ti new for less than that, and with Nvidis releasing new cards this year I would be gutted spending $850 on a 2070S. The Rx 5700XT is nearly identical in gaming performance for a LOT less.
Better airflow case = better thermals = better performance.
    Much better quality PSU.

The 2070 super is the perfect card for 1440p 144hz gaming. I would say upgrade your ram to 3600mhz, upgrade the pay to an 80plus gold unit, swapping the motherboard to the MSI one with built in WiFi. Also you can save money by going with the gigabyte wind force with three fans. I do recommend 3 fans for the 2070 supers or at least 2.5 slot cards.

I would recommend swapping this out for a DeepCool Gammaxx 400 LED which is $13.01 cheaper while giving better cooling performance.

    Hi,

I am looking to build a gaming PC. Looking for best buck to performance and don't have much interest in RGB (what ever keeps the cost low)

    1. Budget & Location
My budget is $2000 CAD for the PC with monitor and peripherals included in the budget.
    Location: Canada

    2. Aim
This PC is purely for gaming.

List of games I play or plan to play:
    1) E-sports titles (league, CSGO, overwatch, Valorant)
    2) Cities Skyline
    3) Racing/driving games (Forza, euro truck sim, F1)
    4) plan to play future triple A titles (med to high settings 1080p)

    3. Monitors
I would love to have a 144hz 1080p display monitor but have no idea what is a good monitor vs a bad one. I have tried to look into it (TN vs IPS vs VA) or (LED vs LCD) but it is super confusing to me. Please help me find a budget 144 Hz monitor with low latency and freesync.
I have never had a high refresh rate monitor or even a good looking display. So I don't personally know if I will notice differences between a good vs great display or low vs high response time.
    4. Peripherals
currently have Logitech G502 SE and am happy with it.
I will be in need of a keyboard. would appreciate any recommendation (best bang for you buck)

    5. Why are you upgrading?
My laptop is in its final stages (love it to bits)
    specs:
    I5-3337U
    Nvidia GT 740M
    14in 60Hz display

I am in a dire need for an upgrade.

    Lastly,
I have gone over PC Partpicker and there is soooo many options that it is more confusing and helpful. I was hoping for a AMD based system. Ryzen 7 3700x or 3800x. Not sure if Ryzen 9 3900x would be better value or if it is overkill.
As for the GPU, I was thinking of Radeon RX 5700XT. It does not really matter if the GPU is AMD or Nvidia.
Motherboards are confusing to me, I am not sure what exact features they have and if those features would improve performance.

I realize that this is a long texted post, please bear with me and let me know if more information in required.

    thanks,
    Hulkify
