Could you show screenshot? If you haven't changed filetype, or don't have file extensions showing (its not on by default, but every hobbyist should have it on), its likely that you have just wrong program associated with files. If the filetype has just changed by accident (filename has extra dot for example), you can just add .mp4 at the end and it should start associate correctly.

Videos can't just turn to text. Most likely, the files are corrupted and are no longer recognized as video, and what you're describing is it opening in notepad or something and just showing the raw bytes.

If the files are corrupted, there's probably not much you can do. You can try opening them manually from within a video player like VLC. It can sometimes read some of the data and play the file, but it will likely have gaps or just stop playing at some point, etc.

It's possible that the files are not corrupted and you've just somehow lost the file association/accidentally associated it with a text editor like notepad. You can open any binary file in notepad, for example, and you'll see the raw bytes represented, but it's obviously not really useful to do so. Try right clicking the file and going to "Open With..." And choose a video player you have installed. There should be an option to "always use this to open these types of files". Checking that will fix the file association.

yes you can use something called

    https://noip.com

just register a domain here and you can renew it every certain time period for free, better than not having it forever or even paying to say the least.

you can also use any other domain attached to your solution if you are planning to host professionally (professionally eg. goru.mcserver.net) . Most or some hosting services will give you a domain you will select to use, noip is just a free solution meant for personal stuff more than just professional.

I'd try a soft, damp towel first and see how well that works. Moving to something like a mild dish soap, water, and soft towel if option 1 doesn't work.

You can specify what each port does, or atleast should be able to.

Open up Realtek's Software and check what each port is assigned to do. Then re-assign what each port does to get 7.1 output.

The best way to get multichannel audio is to use HDMI through your GPU.
That is also the only way to get things like dolby atmos and other modern codecs.

Bloudy_Parrot reacted to Oshino Shinobu in ""adaptive sync/ free sync""
It's an adaptive refresh rate technology. It helps smooth gameplay and prevent tearing in a certain FPS range by matching the monitor to the GPU. Typically, the range is from around 30 to the monitor's maximum refresh rate.

FreeSync is AMD's implementation, which is based on Adaptive Sync, which is a VESA standard initially built into the DisplayPort standard.

Nvidia has now at least enabled support for Free/Adaptive Sync, though how well it work really depends. They have a list of GSync compatible monitors which have been tested to meet certain minimum requirements. Just because a monitor isn't on the list doesn't mean it doesn't work though.

Bloudy_Parrot reacted to DailyProcrastinator in Does adaptive sync work with invedia gpus?
Adaptive Sync is the technology that allows a monitor to match the FPS output in Hz, up until the monitors limit. For example if you output 80FPS on a 144Hz adaptive sync monitor, it would match that at 80Hz, if you spike to 130FPS the refresh rate will also be 130Hz, if you hit 160 FPS the limit would be 144Hz. This technology eliminates screen tearing, micro stuttering etc. There are two 'types' of adaptive sync technologies, AMD FreeSync and Nvidia G-Sync.

As you can imagine, FreeSync is for AMD GPUs, and G-Sync is for Nvidia GPUs. So the real answer is both yes and no. Traditionally if you used an Nvidia GPU and AMD FreeSync panel, you would not have the benefit of adaptive sync. That said now many FreeSync Panel are listed as 'G-Sync Compatible' and even some that are not listed as compatible have reportedly worked with G-Sync enabled, but this is not a guarantee, others have not been able to do so.

What monitor are you looking at?

    https://www.amd.com/en/technologies/free-sync
It syncs the fps of your game and the Hz (refresh rate) of your monitor, so you won't experience tearing (when the top and bottom half of your monitor have a different frame visible on them).

AMD Freesync relies on the open adaptive sync standard, Nvidia videocards can nowadays also make use of it, but sometimes with a lesser degree of success.
Here is a list of monitors from nvidia and how well they work: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/g-sync-monitors/specs/
    G-Sync compatible = Freesync

Bloudy_Parrot reacted to jaslion in ""adaptive sync/ free sync""
Exactly that adaptive refresh rate. Just like nvidia gsync. Your monitor matches your gpu's output framerate (within a certain range) to avoid tearing and have a smoother gaming experience at lower fps.

+1 for twist ties. I save all the ones I get, and bought a roll I could cut to length when I ran out.

I've been migrating to velcro ties for longer/bigger cables. Zip ties are a last resort for when I want something to stay somewhere awkward long term.
