Bottlenecked? Sure. Don't freak out tho. It's inevitable. Just dont worry about it you'll have a more enjoyable time than the Quadro 600 currently in there (I have a Quadro 1000 so can confirm these cards are pain). If you want you can add the term low-profile to the search so you find cards that'll fit your computer but the gigabyte mini-itx card is the only card that can fit the system rn. Jut take measurements and look up the specs of the different cards. I'd avoid MSI's ventus cards they are loud and don't have fan stop. So, it's constantly loud even if you don't do anything.

Go for the 1650 or the 1050Ti. Those two GPUs are available in low-profile variants that can fit in your system and don't require lots of power at all.

If you're using both and your time is valuable to you during rendering. I'd say sacrifice the extra fps to get better productivity as you'll game well above 100fps and you won't have a bad time with the ryzen chips.

This review can help you decide which GPU to pair with your 3300X and assuming that the 1070ti is 2070 levels of performance you can get a pretty good idea of how GPU scaling is with the 3300X

    1. Board is too weak for any Ryzen 9

    2. Ryzen 9 for solely gaming is a complete waste of money

    3. If you dont use a high refresh rate monitor, then even a 2700x is sufficient. These games dont need the highest of frame rates.

There are other things to spend money on (mobo, RAM, GPU) before the CPU.

The 4 pin PWM header on the motherboard can act as a 3 pin DC-DC header for a 3 pin fan header. This setting can be accessed in the BIOS and you do not need to purchase a PWM fan, unless you want more precise control of the fan speed (spinning lower than 50% speed for example)

I am running both, been fine, running a corsair H100i because I didn't really want RGB.

System with PBO runs at 60c under Cinebench R20, runs about 65c after 12 hours of folding.

That board is more than enough for the 3900X, no issues at all. The chipset fan shouldn't be particularly loud, but if you are concerned about noise, I would consider buying an aftermarket cooler, as that will make a big difference in volume. The stock fan will be pretty loud under load. Something like the Scythe Fuma 2 or NH-D15 will be significantly quieter.

The chipset fan is not loud at all, I have the same board.

    I don't believe the 3900x comes with a stock cooler, so you'd need an aftermarket cooler. I'd recommend a 240mm AIO minimum, or a DRP4 or NDH14/15

For motherboards, This Asus one is great https://www.asus.com/uk/Commercial-Servers-Workstations/Pro-WS-X570-ACE/ But I think it's pretty overkill, you can still go for it if you have the money, I don't recommend the UD model from Gigabyte, it's one of the cheaper ones and they cut down some corners on it I/O wise. I would recommend the X570 ACE from MSI and the Prestige Creation they are good boards and it all come downs to you. I won't go with the X570-A-Pro because it's also entry-level boards. The define 7 is a great case but be aware that if you choose the Prestige creation is a little too big and won't fit so that probably eliminates it. Also this list can help you: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/C8QNFG
Note that I didn't include a case in the parts list but you can swap out the 3950x for the 3900x and still get the define R7 or the Lian-Li PC-O11 Dynamic See this one too:

I think the Xeon W run far more hotter and that's statement is rather not correct. Plus the price difference is HUGE and for the same price of an 8 core xeon W you can get a ryzen 9 so i don't advise you buy that tower because motherboard won't let you upgrade to that. Like the price of a good Xeon W processor is your budget lol and they have higher TDPs which means more power consumption and ultimately more heat generated. Ryzen CPUs are't that hungry and most of them run cooler i9-9900K and perform far better for productibity workloads just lookup comparisons. AM4 will also receive a 4th generation soon but only on high-end X570 mobos. So consider that. Also the Xeon® W-3245 is so expensive that you can get a full system with the 3950x for the price of that single chip.

Also, Ryzen has one socket for 4 generatons and it is the AM4 socket. You could buy a 1st gen ryzen with high end X570 mobo and then upgrade for 2nd and 3rd and 4th.

Thanks for your response - looks like a decent laptop and will definitely look into it more - browsing about doesn't seem like a lot of places sell them - got some digging ahead of me xd.
IPS is fine with me - most of my main monitors are IPS - should of stated above and will do a edit rn, but storage isn't a problem as I will be swapping them out for prob a bigger ssd along with a fresh install of windows to get rid of all the crap companies sometimes put in the laptop.

I can't see how they can do better than a 2080ti which has double the render config of a p5000. Quadros are just overpriced because of branding for professionals but I can perfectly imagine a professional using GeForce RTX cards.

For your workloads and generally you won't even benefit from dual cpu systems. My dad bougth one thinking he would get double the performance but in most of his workloads (v-ray, lumion and other 3d stuff). He doesn't benefit from it and it's not optimal at all considering you need so much RAM in order to get the two CPUs working.
Again, dell workstations are great but are also limited in expandability (not much aside from ram and gpu but no cpu upgrades). So, you should consider buying something yourself. For virtualization, I would consider going with something that has high core counts (for exemple a ryzen 9 3900x) and pair that with a 2080 or something similar. Get an X570 mobo from a good vbrand (MSI, AORUS, Asus) and 32gb of high speed RAM plus a beefy PSU (650W~750W).
Again, Dell is a pretty good brand and I own a precision M4600 myself (though it's not the same anymore) and I run linux on it because windows just became too much for the hard drive (5.4k RPM WD drive). I won't advise you to buy prebuilt because you're getting less performance but for more money.

I did a little looking around and wonder how they figure this? Is there some kind of difference between the teraflop calculation done on the F@H website vs the top 500 list?  Because according to what I've found F@H is faster than all 500 super computers combined.

Granted this is a year old for this information but I'm thinking we're far past the top 7

Maybe I need to find up to date information

*edit: forgot there is a difference between Tflops and x86 Tflops

Nevermind, there is an article about this already
