Yeah I suppose so I could do that for significantly less however with the UK import tax it would be more like £300-350. Whilst using website like Aliexpress I could build one for around £115.

Yeah thanks that response is very helpful. I was reading that it had a TDP of 115W. Which sounds bonkers.

Probably a web server so that I can host my own website to showcase my qualifications like a digit CV. However at the moment I have a pentium g4560 just laying around and 8gb of ram so that could work. I was just wondering if it is worth it to buy older hardware such as xeon chips as they can be found so cheap on ebay.

Since with most servers high clock speeds per core aren't really required it more how many cores and threads the chip has and amount of cache. Whilst also keeping it under a modest wattage. I got the idea recently when watching an Iceberg tech video where he accquired an 8C/16T Xeon E5 2670 for £8. However the motherboards cost from £40 to £120. But you can get fairly cheap DDR3 kits on Ebay. Or would it be more worth it to buy a newer generation Xeon (like 4-5 years newer than 2012) as the motherboards might be more common so therefore cheaper? As in regards for the rest of the build the other parts could be found for fairly low cost.

At the moment with the progressions in ddr5 it is definitely worth it. Maybe not when it first came out but now definitely.

Instead of the ryzen 5 7600 you could use a i5 13600K https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/bgrYGL Also possibly changing out your ssd and psu as well Also the radeon 6800 and variants have come down in price massively

Plan out my budget gaming desktop!
KGGaming replied to bigwackluis's topic in New Builds and Planning
But it does the cpu uses the LGA 1700 socket type and that is what the motherboard as well. Its just that the B660 motherboards are more budget than the z690s. -

There is no point in having an APU when he has a dedicated GPU. Unless he is updating the firmware on his motherboard to support 5000 series. -
I installed my new graphic drivers update on gefore experience. And I am very perplexed as to why this is happening? System is in my signature. Image:

Upgrading my GTX 1080, go for 3070 Ti or 6700XT ?
KGGaming replied to Andrej997's topic in Graphics Cards
But warranty is more important since they have a relatively similar performance at 1080p and only marginally worse at 1440p. Later on in like 1 year when something goes wrong it would be better to have that warranty if a repair or replacement needs to happen. Than being out of a GPU. -
You could try using gpu-z which is software which allows to verify identity of card

KGGaming replied to KGGaming's topic in Graphics Cards
Do you think with the news and upcoming release of 4000 series they'll continue or just stop? -

You could always just get a converter of usb-b to usb-c. Also in terms of the ram the higher speed the ram is the more performance you will get out of it, so it is a no brainer to get faster ram.

For the motherboard you just need to update the bios. Download onto usb then plug into motherboard. Also on amazon the sn770 2TB is on sale from $270 to $190. You can get a kit of 32gb of two sticks of 16GB for $102.99, which as a speed of 3600 and in the future you could always increase the ram amount by adding another two sticks in. https://www.amazon.com/G-SKILL-Ripjaws-PC4-28800-288-Pin-F4-3600C18D-32GVK/dp/B081374T3G/ref=sr_1_4?crid=5QOL7OZPZBKW&keywords=32gb+ddr4&nav_sdd=aps&qid=1657703214&refinements=p_n_feature_two_browse-bin%3A16955285011&rnid=16955283011&s=pc&sprefix=32gb+&sr=1-4 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09QV5KJHV/ref=twister_B09RYVXKHP?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Also would recommend getting some more case fans, with some for intake and others for outtake

So in regards to heavy workload, I take computer science which means that I will be using a VS code to run 10s of thousands of lines of code on a virtual web server to test the development. What is the i7 1260p like in comparison to the i5 1230u?

And it is worh the price? The use of the laptop will be for programming under heavy workloads most notably mobile website development and general office work.
