Gotcha! Will try that out, how did you format the usb and get the os on there? (I know with mac theres a specific way to do it)

Sorry forgot to add, it has a active web connection! I can open the web page help and it works fine.

Hey guys I have a 2011 Macbook air that I wanted to give to a friend to just use word, print and do some basic things... it has previously had the hard drive wiped by someone else and I opened it up the other day. I clicked reinstall lion from the troubleshooting boot menu. But it says it cant find additional components to install lion. Is there any way around this? Or a way to use a Usb or something else to get the computer going again? (yes I have no idea how macs work and never will)
