  1. I got another mechanical keyboard the other week. I've been using a Razer Blackwidow X Chroma TE (a mouthful, i know) and being that I've only used clicky keyboards like it, I wanted to try something linear. Local stores like microcenter have a good variety of keyboards on display, and I always could never get myself to like cherry reds. They always had a very scratchy, plastic-y feel to them that really took away from the feel of it. Looking on forums, I learned about Gateron switches, and they looked just like what I was after, but hardly any keyboards had them in reds or blacks. Finally came across the James Donkey 619 for $40, so i jumped on it. TKL, gateron reds, doubleshot ABS caps, amber lighting, removable cable, metal top plate, etc. The memes were right, they are smooth and buttery. It's not replacing my Blackwidow X, but it's a very nice alternative to switch to every so often. Also, hinting from my username, I do very much like the amber lighting, it's not neon or anything like that, it's nice and warm. Now, a question for the thread because I don't feel this warrants its own thread. Anyone know where to get enclosures/housings for a keyboard like this? I've seen DIY keyboards with the same layout, and so it's not the only one out there. I'm not a fan of the whole "floating key" look, so I want to put this thing into a frame and mod the hell out of it. The Razer's too expensive for me to actually mod and not kick myself for.
  2. Cherry blacks or greens are what you're looking for. Blacks for a heavy linear switch, greens for heavier tactile switchs
  3. I tried the g303 in a shop, feels like most other stanard mice in terms of ergonomics, haven't tried the g9x, looks decent, but it doesn't have that ledge on the side and it doesn't seem to exist in most places anymore. And the sensor in the Spawn is the Avago ADNS-3090, I dunno how that compares, but it's been regarded as just alright, but not great. I don't play games like CS (competitively at least) so a perfect sensor isn't that big of a concern, so long as it's about on par with my current mouse. Seeing that mouse, it seems like any other mice in terms of ergonomics, asides from the thumb rest. And your claw grip is pretty relaxed looking compared to mine. But compared to that mouse, like the g303, it doesn't seem to have anything to cater to a claw grip more than any other mouse.
  4. So, I've had a CM Storm Spawn for years, and since I've got a claw grip, it's perfect. Since, every other mouse has felt too thin, cramped, and uncomfortable. Sadly for my Spawn, the buttons are feeling a bit mushy. I've had to repair the middle mouse button already, and I'm considering just replacing the switches, but I want to use this as an excuse to look at mice that may be an upgrade. Unfortunately, the Spawn, Xornet, and Xornet II have been discontinued and the remaining Xornets that are for sale are pretty inconsistent in terms of stock and are typically way overpriced. Are there any mice that are comparable to the CM Storm Spawn in terms of ergonomics for claw grip users? I don't care about having the most perfectly tuned mouse for gaming and I'll take good ergonomics over extreme precision mouse tracking and things alike. To me, things like Zowie and Steelseries mice don't feel right when using a claw grip due to their symmetrical and bubbled shapes compared to the "paw" shape (as the rocket jump ninja describes it) of the spawn/xornet mice. For reference, here's the shape I'm talking about; As you can see, it has a ledge for your finger, is wider than a typical mouse, and I'd say it's length is comparable to a laptop travel mouse.
  5. Whaddup guys, I've got some questions. I've got a Blackwidow X chroma TE and it's pretty nice, considering getting some vortex doubleshot pbt caps for it just for the backlighting. Anything I should know about them? Any other pbt doubleshot backlit key caps that I should consider under $50? Also, any gateron red keyboard anyone can recommend for under/around $50? I want something quiet for typing at night since I live with roommates who don't like the loud clacking at night. I'm not a fan of cherry reds, they feel way too plastic-y/grainy for my taste. Monoprice makes one that seems pretty nice, but that iso/ansi hybrid layout companies keep using kills it for me. And there's a Qisan keyboard on Amazon, but with a price of around $70, it seems pretty pricey for knockoff switches that can be found on cheaper boards.
  6. Do they have any on ear headphones? All I'm finding are in-ears.
  7. I know well of skullcandy, I have a pair of their earbuds and have tried many of their headphones, the main reason why I'm considering them is that the bluetooth variants are considered to be marginally better, and I can get them locally, making it easier to try out or exchange.
  8. I'll look into them, but I prefer non-in-ear style headphones, sorry, i should've specified that in the OP :V Doing that now.
  9. I need some help looking for Bluetooth headphones for around $50 that would be used on the go. My current phone has a history of faulty headphone jacks and I'd rather not risk it and the less cables, the better. So far, from research, I've found the Creative Sound Blaster Jam, Skullcandy Uproar, and Photive BTH3. Each of these having their pros and cons making me not very decisive. As far as audio quality goes, anything on par or better than earpods is alright with me, especially for travel, on the go headphones. Also, additionally, I'd prefer something on/over ear, as I'm not a fan of having things in my ears. though i did use earbuds for years Have anyone here tried any of these or have any cheaper bluetooth headphones that they'd recommend?
  10. Judging by your profile picture, I have the sneaking suspicion you may be a lenovo man. How would a Thinkpad Yoga S1 with a core i7 4500U with 8gb of RAM do? You can get good ones on ebay for about $400. You know if there's any issues with the thinkpad yoga S1 to be aware of/ why not to get?
  11. Woops, I copied the wrong links :v (this one too) I meant to copy the link for the 128gb version. The major issue I seem to be having is graphics acceleration in PS with the 2520m, because that, along with tinkering with integrated graphics settings, seem to be what's choking the system the most. Also, when having a resource monitor open, the cpu sits at around half, maybe a little bit more most of the time when not applying settings. And yea, about ram, 4gb is definitely not enough, I had to upgrade my x220t from 4 to 6, then to 8, when using things like PS, rhino, zbrush, inventor, etc.
  12. Hobby and school, I think it was obvious as the it states "for school". And I'm not opposed to buying used or refurbished, or just generally older devices, hence the budget. And, again, older and refurbished devices can get had for easily within the budget, I just want to know what else there is. I KNOW for a fact that there isn't just a surface pro 3 and that's it, nothing else has ever been made that falls within that price bracket, as I've seen quite a few and have listed a few already. And a 3rd and 4th gen i3 can handle photoshop alright. I've been able to use photoshop on my brother's toshiba with an older i3 and it runs decently enough, i can't remember which i3 it is, but it's 3rd gen or newer. Photoshop was doable on a i5 2520m when not having to lower performance, say, if plugged in to its charger. Just when in a normal, non-power saver mode, my x220 tablet could only get about 2 hours of battery life with light use. Editing and rendering a 3'x5' 300dpi sign wasn't that bad on them, but he older, 2nd gen i5 is just too power inefficient for me to practically use it as an on-the-go device. The SP3 is out of the question due to n-trig and a history of having faulty wifi. A quick google search shows that the line jitter issue (as well as many others) still persists on the SP3 And drawing lines slow is kinda necessary for inking, detail in CAD work, careful freehand editing, etc.
  13. I can tell you more than likely didn't read the OP I specifically requested a NOT N-trig device, as for drawing, they have issues that wacom devices don't, (line jitter, pressure curve odd-ness, etc) I've tried one out in-store and even with windows 10 and latest drivers, all of those issues are still there. "I'm not a fan of graphics tablets...", I've use stand alone tablet for photoshop on my desktop for a long while, but the coordination with it and the display being detached is something that, after 5+ years, I still haven't entirely gotten used to, it's fine for edits in PS, but when it comes to drawing, I can't do that. And when it comes to price, as stated in my post, things like the SP2 with a i5 4200U can run it fine (better than a 2520m on low power mode) and still be within budget. I just want to know what devices to consider that I probably haven't seen yet, as when you look up these things, you'll only find a lot of iPad pro, Surface, and wacom devices costing upwards of $800, with the occasional Intel Atom budget device thrown in.
