  1. Hello! I have a new rig freshly being built and on Thursday the last piece comes, the fabled OS key. I have a new M.2, I have all the new fun stuff to get the PC up and running. my currently rig has everything on it installed on a 2tb Seagate HDD. When I put up my new rig and load up windows, I’d love to be able to move my HDD from my current PC with all of my “definitely licensed” nintendo “totally not virtual consoles”, as well as my other installs like WoW (sorry I’m really a trash PC gamer), and my many other things (photos from family stuff, work things, all that stuff). It currently has my OS and all my drivers as well. basically I want to know what’s going to happen when I put my HDD with windows 10 and all my other drivers and personal things into a rig where an M.2 will have windows and a few drivers. Will I lose my stuff? Will I have to find a way to get my emulators again? thanks for all feedback that will be provided! This forum page has really helped me a lot, y’all are super nice!
  2. Thank you for all of this info, I’ll be taking into consideration all of the above. As for now, I’ll be saving all of this info to my phone for later references. I think I might just get the 2080 super in the near future after saving up a bit, and riding out until the new boards and CPUs are out and easily available to purchase. Thank you again!
  3. I only have the case and the ram since the ram was on mega sale on amazon, and the case was a random spontaneous buy to get me into motion on actually starting my upgrade. as for the CPU and MOBO, I was actually going to get the Aorus z390 master this week when I get paid. I don’t see a need to have the super top of the like MOBO for my needs, but I’d like to inquire more info on the Ryzen situation. What do you prefer for the similar price range of the 9900k?
  4. We figured out the issue, he didn’t plug a power wire in properly. I had a friend go to his house and physically look at it. It’s working now!
  5. Budget (including currency): $2800 Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: any variation of games on steam to Microsoft PC game pass Other details: So my current PC is about 7 years old. Inside is an Asus Z97, GTX 960, intel i7 4700K, 16GB corsair vengeance, rosewill photon 1050 80Plus gold, and 1TB HDD by Seagate. the new build is: Lian Li 011D XL case Aorus Z390 Master Aorus 2080 Super intel i9 9900K Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 32GB DDR4 3200 power supply from original build is being used HDD is coming over as well. I am aware that I need to wipe the HDD when moving from my current PC to my new CPU and MOBO so windows 10 doesn’t blue screen, but I have no clue how to go about doing this. My main question is, how to I move my hard drive and windows 10 from my current build to the new GPU/CPU/MOBO/RAM without corrupting it and needing to buy it again? I’m definitely new to the tech industry and custom PC building, and moving to a new PC is foreign territory for me. Thanks!
  6. I told him to remove and reseat the card, unplug and re-plug in everything from the 6+2 plug on the card itself to the PSU. He’s wiggled the HDMI, and used it to connect his Nintendo Switch to the monitor to see if both the HDMI cable and monitor were not faulty. The HDMI being used for the PC worked fine with the Switch dock when plugged into the monitor. The only thing that’s concerning is the GPU fans running, but it not having any indication of it sending a signal. I’m not certain if there are any LED indicators on the GPU like some cards have, but everywhere I look seems to say there isn’t. It’s truly stumping since when he plugs in the GPU it even clicks into place with the audible snap like it should.
  7. The GPU was fully hooked up with the 6+2 pin PCIe connector after the photo that’s attached was taken, and the display was plugged into the GPU via HDMI. The GPU fans spun up and remained on during the power cycle, but the display never received signal.
  8. Hello, my friend is building his first PC across the country from me and he’s running into an issue with his GPU. Everything is plugged in properly to his knowledge based on a FaceTime with me, but when he powers up his PC, he gets the normal boot audio tone, but no picture on his monitor. His motherboard and everything is running fine, but his GPU isn’t putting out picture. His GPU fans are running, but of course, no picture. His build is: MOBO: ASUS ROG Strix B450-F Gaming Motherboard (ATX) AMD Ryzen 2AM4 DDR4 DP HDMI M.2 USB 3.1 Gen2 B450 CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core, 12-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor with Wraith Stealth Cooler GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 1660 SC Ultra Gaming, 06G-P4-1067-KR, 6GB GDDR5, Dual Fan RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz C15 Desktop Memory Kit PSU: EVGA - 850W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 Plus Gold Modular Power Supply - Black I’m going to leave out the SSD and HDD unless it’s for some reason needed. I’m not super tech savvy, but I built my own PC about 6 years ago and the only issue I ran into was I forgot my spacers on my motherboard when seating the GPU, so the GPU didn’t plug all the way in. It gave me the same exact issues my buddy is having, but mine was very easy to remedy. Any tips would be great! attached image is a picture he sent me where his CPU fan was on wrong, but it’s the only picture he sent where you can see the GPU in the board (prior to running all of his wires to the PSU).
