  1. Upgrade it with something that is the same speed as factory unless your bios lets you enable xmp. If you cant enable xmp, you wont be able to get the full speed unless its jedec rated for the speed you are buying. Don't bother buying anything with tighter timings that it has on the soldered ram because you wont be able to utilize it. They system will default to the slowest ram. I found this out the hard way on my 2021 Zephyrus G15. It came with 8gb 3200hmz CL22 soldered, and I put in a stick of 16gb 3200 CL18 and they system is still running at CL22.
  2. I downloaded zentimings and it actually shows it running at the right speed if i select the 16gb stick. The soldered on 8gb is running at cl22 (which is normal). I guess CPUZ and HWinfo64 are pulling the timing info from the soldered ram not the added stick.
  3. 8gb is soldered to the motherboard. 24gb should be fine, and actually performs better than the stock 16gb in certain tasks in the research I've done. The first 16gb will still run un dual channel and the remaining 8gb will be in single channel when its needed.
  4. Yes, both are being plugged into the same socket on the TV. I have also tried the other sockets, and the problem persists.
  5. I recently got a usb-c to hdmi cable that is capable of 4k60hz so that I could use it on my laptop when gaming on my TV at 1080p120hz. My laptop has to pass video through the igpu if you don't use one of the type c ports, and this reduces your max fps. Hence buying this cable... It does indeed get 1080p at 120hz with 10bpc color depth, but the image is over scanned quite badly. Nothing I have found can fix this except for manually setting the screen size in NVidia control panel with the laptop screen disabled. There's no over scan using a cheap generic HDMI cable, so why do I get it with the nicer usb-c to hdmi cable?
  6. I just got this ram https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09337QS3R/ref=twister_B0BJ2KPT5L?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Its not showing the correct timings when I look in cpuz. This was supposed to be jedec rated and shouldn't require any overclocking or xmp to get the advertised speeds. My laptop (21 Zephyrus G15) doesn't allow me to change the settings in the bios like I would be able to on a desktop. Does anyone know how I can get this to work at the rated timings? I have attached screenshots from cpuz. You can see the part number with the correct timings. It should be running at cl18, and its at cl22. Speed is correct at 3200mhz though. I bought this because its dual rank and cl18, and should have been some of the fastest ddr4 you can get in your laptop. Now I'm feeling cheated.
  7. Hopefully this is the right section for this, if not let me know. I just picked up an Asus Zephyrus G15. I've been getting everything updated, and all my usual software installed today. I installed Afterburner so that I can use the OSD and also undervolt the gpu a little bit for lower temps. This model has a Ryzen 5900HS with an igpu and also an RTX 3070. Afterburner is only showing the igpu, and I cannot figure out how to make it display the 3070 so that I can dial in my undervolt. Does anyone know how to fix this?
  8. I'm looking at getting a tuf or an fe depending on what i see in stock first. The tuf is a good card, runs cool, and is also msrp which is as much as I am willing to spend. But honestly, any 3080 is better than none at all. Get what you can get your hands on.
  9. So I figured out it is in fact the PSU fan... Weird. I wouldn't think it would be working that hard with my current GPU. It's louder than the rest of the fans in my system combined, and especially annoying when it ramps up and down ever second or two. So far I have only tested this while playing cyberpunk 2077, and it only happens in certain areas. I have noticed if I am looking straight ahead, the fan is off, but If I look up into the sky while in NC, it ramps up.
  10. 5500xt should be fine for a 75hz monitor. The ripjaws are 3600mhz vs the 3200mhz you have listed, and are also cheaper.
  11. More vram will be nice going forward, but the 5600 xt is overall a decent bit faster than the 5500 xt. Also, I would look for a different ram kit. You should be able to get a faster kit for less money. https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-16gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232880?&quicklink=true or this if you must have rgb https://www.newegg.com/ballistix-16gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820164213 they also have black and white, but they are currently out of stock on newegg at least
  12. So I uninstalled Afterburner and installed Precision X1 and have the same results. Erratic fan behavior. I have also tried uninstalling both and letting the GPU run stock and it also does the same thing, but it gets much hotter since the fans are running at an overall lower rpm.
  13. Thank I'll check it with precision-x and report back. That's a bummer if it is the motherboard.... is he using a zen 3 cpu with a newer bios as well? Im currently using the F31o bios from a couple weeks ago.
  14. Yeah its normal. It will draw higher voltages at lower loads while at stock or using pbo. It will drop a lot under load. Try running cinebench and you will probably see around 1.2v
